How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.

Verified reviewWe really liked the property. The access is not through another property but is independent of the house where the hosts live, and the facilities were really clean and modern with all necessary kitchen appliances, enough tableware and the beds were very comfortable. All in all a top stay! Key is easy to access as the key box is right next to the door and the area in front of the property had comfortable garden furniture to enjoy a quite evening and rest your feet after a hard day of "touristing".

The water was smelled strongly of sulfur but, of course, nothing can be done about that. Perhaps give guests warning they might like to buy some bottled water.

Verified reviewThe location is literally central as could be, you can walk to everything husavik has. Theres a little cafe across the road that opens Friday to Monday and is great! On the other days there’s cafes a few mins walk away and restaurants and wood fired pizza 5-10 mins away nothing is too far to walk. The apartment is large modern and has every single thing you could need.

Verified reviewThe location was perfect, with everything in a few minutes' walk, except for the grocery store, which was a little further. There was a shortage of dish detergent, but the owner promptly replaced it. We liked that there was a washer with detergent, a drying rack, a couch, a comfy chair, and two decks to choose from. We've never stayed in a place with such a large collection of china! The wifi was high-speed.
There was no spatula to make sandwiches in the fry pan. It would have been helpful to have at least a few spices on hand for guests.

Verified reviewLocation, location, location! Designated parking space. Did I mention LOCATION! And my wife was with me, so that was wonderful too! It was also very clean and my wife was happy to see a coffee maker.
It could have been warmer in the apartment when we got there, but we're dumb Americans who don't know anything because were so far behind the rest of the world and we're only taught farenhiet.

Verified reviewLovely little apartment, just a few minutes walk from the harbour where the whale watching tours depart from. Nice kitchen, comfy couch, great beds. Everything looked brand new. We really enjoyed our stay, we felt cosy comfortable. There's also a nice little private garden (which we didn't use, but looked nice!).
As other guests have mentioned, there are no blinds or shutters - so a lot of light comes in in the morning. It also doesn't feel very private. There isn't a door to divide bedroom and bathroom, just a curtain - so make sure you stay only with people you're very comfortable with.

Verified reviewThe apartment was very well done. It looks like a converted garage on the outside but inside it is a quaint, compact apartment. While there are no doors on the bathroom or bedroom there are dividing curtains for privacy. The little garden area outside was very private and comfortable for a morning cup of tea/coffee. The location cannot be beat and price was very also great. We own several vacation homes and were extremely impressed with how the apartment was stocked and the ease of check in.
Very little! The minor things I shared with the owner and I am sure they will address. One concern for folks sensitive to light is the amount of light that does shine in through the front window/door both day and night. You may want to have a night mask if the light bothers you.
