Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IsraelBeds: two separate beds that moved by itself aside too easyly. Bath: one kind of some soap, no shampoo or body lotion. Some constant mystery noise of wind in the room.
Location (Old city), cleanliness, staff is very helpful and well trained, nice green garden outside, food in the caffe is tasty, coffee is very good, there is some authentic Austrian food, rooftop with great view on Old city, the building itself is interesting.

IsraelI would highly recommend the hotel to independent travelers since it is a no frills experience. The beds are comfortable but only barely so. In my room, the beds were separate and not appropriate for a couple. This being Winter, the rooms were chilly and I needed the space heater that was available. There is no tea set with hot water heater that would have been a welcome benefit. The location is good, but if you are coming with suitcases, it is not convenient. The closest light rail is more than a ten minute uphill climb. Also, the Damascus Gate is the main entry to the Old City for the Muslim community and there are some security concerns during tense periods. Lastly, this is not a hotel for people who are used to the creature comforts of hotels like the Hilton or Sheraton, but rather a more bare bones affair for people who have a sense of history.
The Austrian Hospice is a beautiful 19th century building that has recently gone through some reservations and has a great deal of character. The rooms are large and with a very high ceiling. The location is conveniently by station number three of the Via Dolorosa and the property is an oasis of peace in an otherwise crowded and hectic place. The staff are all pleasant young people who are spending a year of service in Israel and the coffee shop has the best sachertorte and apple strudel this side of Vienna. The breakfast buffet is small by Israeli standards, but more than sufficient. The view from the roof of the hotel is spectacular and not to be missed.

IsraelThe location of the hotel is nothing less then amazing. In the middle of Jerusalem's old city, on the Via Delarosa. The room was big but very vintage (which I really liked). There was no air-condition, however there was a ventilator and a radiator. I'm not sure I would rent a room in mid summer, but opening the windows and turning on the ventilator was sufficient. Also there was no TV in the room, which was fine by me, but I think you should be aware of this. There is no parking at the hotel, in fact there is no parking at the hotel, in fact, if you rent a car in Jerusalem (which I don't think you should...) you'll simply have to park it outside the old city, and it will probably be expensive. There is a mosque right next to the hotel, and I was awakened by the muezzin when he called for prayers at about 5:00 AM. However, I got back to sleep after a few minutes. The view from the windows was amazing, and breakfast was tasty. The staff were friendly and the room was clean.

United KingdomNothing! That being said - if you have a lot of luggage, call ahead and ask if reception can organise to have you picked up from one of the gates. Cars cannot enter into the Old Town. It’s not far to walk but cumbersome if you have a lot to carry or aren’t happy to walk a lot.
Best location for a stay in Jerusalem! You are in the middle of everything. Building and grounds are expansive and a little oasis of calm amongst the hustle and bustle of the Old Town. Amazing views from the rooftop. Don’t forget to try some Austrian pastries in the cafe! The rooms in the old building are more picturesque than the annex but all good value. We had one of the old building rooms with a balcony - stunning!

United StatesBathroom lighting could be improved, but that's it!
This is my go-to home away from home. The people are outstanding, the location is unbeatable, and the AC is refreshing. Highly recommend! It was the first time I've stayed in the main building and I loved it. I was right next to the salon and had a magnificent piano concert when a former volunteer practiced. It was incredible. Also, the main driver, Fadi, is an absolute gem to work with and know. I left my phone and wallet in his car, and I knew it was safe with him. As expected, everything came back intact. You can't put a price on integrity.

United StatesThe AC didn't work the first night. That was tough. The bed isn't the greatest and the cleaning could be a bit more thorough, especially in the corners and the shower.
I love this place, especially the location. The breakfast is usually pretty good, and the staff are amazing.
