Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandThe room wasn't clean, the bathroom wasn't clean with a horribly dirty toilet, everything had a funky musk to it. The carpet flooring looked like it had several burn marks in it. Both shower doors came off the shower when I tried to close them and no hot water for two days. There was no electric kettle despite advertising one. No contact with staff,no responses to complaints. The pub is extremely loud so no sleep was possible and the fire alarms went off at about 2am. No one stay here please. Trust me.
The location was fab. Very central and a short walk from everywhere interesting.

IrelandLittle shabby . A little bit of paint and a more inviting reception area would make a difference.
Pay low price for a room in the city centre.

United KingdomFirstly let me point out that Kilkenny is not a budget Hotel City. The price I paid for four nights £254 was well below the going rate bearing in mind it was over the Christmas period and a last minuet booking. THE PRO'S The location is without a doubt the best in the City, loads of Bars, Restaurants, Supermarkets, Take aways less then a 60 second walk The Wi-fi is excellent. THE OK'S The Hotel in not staffed and the check in is via an app which I found very difficult to understand, thankfully other guests sorted it for me, and once active it's a very good system. But you must have a smart phone The bedding was spotless and comfortable. The Building is very old and could do with a facelift There is no lift and I was on the top floor, bear this in mind if you have mobility issues. The room was fairly clean but could be a lot better Due to its location it can be noisy as would any central Hotel THE CONS The Toilet and Toilet seat were awful needs replacing. There was a kettle but no cups,Tea, Coffee,Sugar,Milk The TV did not work The shower worked well but the fittings worn out and unpredictable The room was very very cold and the heating only came on for a few hours late at night The photos on Booking .com make the room look far better then it is SUMMARY Location............................10/10 Cleanliness..........................4/10 Facilities..............................0/10 Comfort...............................5/10 ADVISE If you want 5 star then pay 5 star prices elsewhere If you want Travel Lodge Standards this Hotel is not for you. If you want somewhere just to rest your head this will be ok FOOTNOTE Not trying to teach the owner how to suck eggs,,BUT!! For a small outlay to Install a new toilet and seat Replace the TV Supply Tea/Coffee facilities A lick of paint A new Housemaid And put the heating on With a location like this Hotel has you would recover the outlay in 2 weeks And would transform it into a basic room

IrelandA guest MUST have a mobile phone and be familiar with operating "apps" to enter the building. There was not warning related to that issue when booking the stay - I didn't notice it anyway. AI am not familiar with these things - I would have no chance to stay in the booked place if a person who booked a room there didn't help me with that. Moreover - the person had the same room I booked - a "double" booking had happened! He was there first. Contacting the owner over a phone was badly organized - as he didn't respond - just a message was provided that he would contact us later. Later, after some 1 hour of panic and frantic search for an accommodation the owner contacted me informing that an error had happened and that I had another room there..... I will not recommend that place to anyone....
