How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewMatthew was friendly and helpful and provided a vegan breakfast on request. The donkeys were cute! It was quiet
The bed while comfortable, was very high. There was no chair in the room.

Verified reviewExcellent breakfast. Feeding the donkeys. Billiard in a lounge. Friendly personal.
Rooms made in a little bit ancient style (like the B&B 60 years ago). Shared toilets and showers.

Verified reviewComfortable bed and facilities clean.
Shared bathroom and toilet with other guests. Bathroom needs update, as do old towels. Cramped breakfast room.
Hi Teresa, very nice to meet ye I actually thought you were from the UK 😂 I don’t control the text, booking.com do, all I know is we have shared bathroom down on that room but a lot of people don’t read that so it’s not just you. The dining room might get busy when we’re full but for the most part I think it works, just small enough that you can talk to other couples and swap notes or sit at the other table if you don’t want to 😁. All the best

Verified reviewThe location was near the town of Cashel which was fine. The room and beds were clean.
Our check-in was disastrous as no one there to meet us & the lock box wasn't explained. The proprietor came briefly and then left & we in fact let two other clients into the house. The house was musty and hadn't been renovated since the 1970's. The breakfast table was a clutter of things, and the breakfast itself was terrible. We wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
Catherine I wouldn’t recommend you two to another B&B either. Haha. What you’re conveniently leaving out is that you arrived at 4 when check-in is at 5, you rang the doorbell and I answered straight away through the app, I pointed ye towards the lockbox and gave you the code, how it took you and your husband nearly 10 minutes to open it I still can’t understand, when I was talking to ye you said you have a lockbox too but ye’re one is slightly different, I had to smile at that. I directed ye towards a restaurant down town and when ye came back up and had the key this time ye still couldn’t open the door even though no one else had any problems. You got the same breakfast as the guy at the other table and he ate it all and of course you never noticed our new carpets or light fittings and other things. You and your husband were at a wedding the night before and were probably a little under the weather and were needlessly narky

Verified reviewWe wanted to experience staying on a B&B. The breakfast was amazing.
Bathroom is outside the room, it is an old house that could use a little maintenance, the bed was okay for one night but not too comfortable. When we arrived at 8 30 pm on a friday we were told not to make any noise because everyone was already asleep. Bear in mind that sunset is past 10 pm. So we felt like strangers overstaying our welcome.
Hi Natalia, thank you for staying with us., it was lovely to meet both of you and we had a nice chat the next morning. I remember letting you in but can’t remember saying about keeping noise levels down, you stayed with us Saturday night not Friday night so maybe you’re getting places mixed up, if it was half 8 on a Saturday I definitely wouldn’t have said it. Regarding the room, it was room with shared bathroom you booked but I will double check the bed. Thank you for the custom and enjoy the rest of your trip.

Verified reviewMatthew is a very friendly and helpful host. The room was clean and had a new carpet in it.
We had the room with two single beds. Unfortunately the mattresses were not in the best condition and the bathroom was very small and not perfectly clean.

Verified reviewexceptional time and care taken by Matthew to ensure we were well equipped to make the most of our time here. He provided excellent information both verbally and via links to our phone to help with our researching family history. Both Matthew and his mother Mary were caring and friendly creating a family atmosphere. We extended our stay beyond our initial plans because of the warmth and care extended to us. Highly recommended

Verified reviewWe liked the fact that it had a pool table, which most others don't have. Great addition. Location close to the town also great. Liked the way there was a room off the property as it's more private. Mathew and family were more than welcoming lovely people.
Not to be rude but the kitchen could do with some new cutlery eg, knifes, forks, glasses ect and upgraded showers 🙂 other than that everything was perfect
