How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewA beautiful retreat just outside the chaos of Ubud. The property is a stunning private villa with its own pool and a delicious breakfast included. You can even enjoy breakfast by the pool for an extra 10,000 rupiah, which is a lovely touch. The only drawback is the roosters that start crowing quite early in the morning.

Verified reviewReview for Ubud Accommodation A lovely, simple room with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The location is perfect—close to everything in Ubud. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, making us feel very welcome. Great value and a peaceful base for exploring the area.
It can be a little out way to centre. I a bit noisy from the animals but ear plugs provided. Slept well!

Verified reviewThe villa was a nice private space tucked away in Ubud, with a lovely small private pool — perfect for a refreshing dip after a busy day exploring. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially Made, who was always quick to assist and arranged a scooter for us whenever we needed.
Cleanliness could definitely be improved. When we checked in, the room had insects and spider webs, which was disappointing. Thankfully, after we raised the issue, the room was cleaned more thoroughly and the rest of our stay was comfortable. Overall, it’s a decent value for money if you’re not too picky, but there’s room for improvement.

Verified reviewThe view was great The staff super friendly Breakfast was very yummy
It wasn’t very private, I could see the local neighbours through the fence The dogs next door would continuously bark anytime I was chilling outside, which was aggravating. The wifi constantly stopped working through the days. It’s obvious not Bali owned. The contact person wasn’t in Ubud and would take long times to reply when I needed help with the faulty wifi or empty drinking water . It was a foreign property manager. I’d much rather support local business. The most roosters I’ve ever heard in my life staring at 3am The pool was green when I first arrived and they had to empty it, hand clean it and refill, which took hours when I first arrived and I wanted privacy to rest The pool when green again a few days later, so they don’t use chlorine The owners had aggressive dogs that would come at me when I was trying to come and go One dog was on a 1 meter leash 24 hours a day which was sad. I thought about cutting it free but it was also very aggressive The staff would come in unannounced when I was naked and would not leave in the awkward situation The bed wasn’t comfortable, I felt like I would sink into the middle and my partner had no choose but to roll on top of me during the night If you have mobility issues, the step into the bathroom and kitchen is abnormally large and would be dangerously for some.

Verified reviewThe private pool was lovely.
There were large holes in the roof (as pictured) and walls, which allowed a large geko entry and it was on the ceiling, daily dropping poop onto the table and floor. The facilities are very poor, the kitchen facilities are very basic for the cost. The Kettle was insanely slow and took an age to boil. Each day, I had to ask for toilet paper as a new roll was not provided. There was dust and hair at the side of the bedside locker. There was a dog 2 metres away from my head that barked incessantly each night from 10pm onwards and woke me up at approximately 6am each morning also, barking at other dogs. The walls are all wooden so the noise is insanely loud, the walls offer no protection from the barking or the roosters going off each morning. There were numerous dogs running around at the entrance which was intimidating entering the property, and in particular a large black dog out the front of this property that followed me and jumped at me on two occasions. I felt scared. The bed dipped down on the left hand side. The 6 nights I slept there, between the bed and noise, I didn't sleep well one night even with earplugs. It was hell for $65 AUD a night.

Verified reviewSo clean! The staff were so helpful, kind, and accommodating. They clean daily and respond quickly to thier whatsapp messages. They even minded our bags before the villa was available so we could explore. Great location, stunning view and divine pool. Hired a scooter with helmets and a rain coat directly from the host. So happy with our stay.
Be aware you will need to buy your own water, they provide around 2 litres a day. There is a fridge you can store your water in

Verified reviewReally beautiful little spot close to the centre of Ubud and really handy if you’re travelling North to Batur at some point. Really nice little cabin with a great forest view. Good Eat Pray Love spot for solo or couples.
It was pretty much everything I expected. The only odd part is that it a little tricky to find as it’s behind other shops and houses but the address is available on Google Maps, Grab and GoJek
