How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe setting of the property is beautiful. The pool is in the middle of lush greenery and a traditional house. The location was good near the royal palace and water temple, lots of restaurants and shopping streets nearby. They have 5 retriever/lab dogs, so I would only stay if you are happy to have them around. We loved them! The room is basic but good value for money and has everything you need.

Verified reviewNice little accommodation which is set away from the main road, so it’s lovely and quiet! But walking distance to everything. Very friendly owner (Dana I think he is called), who welcomes you with a smile and is very helpful - really nice vibes from him. The pool is nice too. As a dog lover, it was cute having a few dogs roam the property - they are about 5 of them I think, all absolutely friendly and harmless :) they get excited if you give them attention, otherwise they leave you alone
Unfortunately the room was quite dusty, under the bed wasn’t clean/had cobwebs and the top of the wardrobe needed a clean. Even though it’s a budget accommodation, this area needs improving. Good stay otherwise for the price!

Verified reviewWe had a fantastic family stay at Manuaba Inn. Our host was so friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. He gave us lots of tips of place's to visit and information about local culture. The pool was beautiful and cool and a lovely location amongst nature. It was a really quiet location set back from the road but very convenient to lots of eateries and shops. The rooms were very reasonably priced.
We had two rooms, one of the rooms smelled slightly damp, but was very clean. I think it was because of the location amongst the trees. They have 6 beautiful golden retriever dogs that get a little excited around visitors, so if you are frightened of dogs it may not be the place for you.

Verified reviewWe loved the traditional Balinese household and setting. Very special experience. And of course we loved having 5 Labrador puppies and their happy mother dog. Our host was very helpful and welcoming. Thankyou for having us stay. My daughter and I enjoyed the beauty of the property very much

Verified reviewGood location 5 mins from the Main Street. Room was like the pictures, each room was spaced from the others so there was a bit of privacy. Pool was good, medium sized but never too busy as there are only about 8 rooms. Our room had a kitchen and fridge so we could cook ourselves. The owner is very nice and always available to help out. In the end we ended up staying a few days longer. The owners have 6 golden retrievers, they aren’t aggressive they just get a bit overexcited sometimes, especially if you have food and are coming back in. They might leave some muddy prints on your floor but the staff do mop everyday. It wasn’t a problem for us but just something to note.
There’s an extra 10% tax to pay on arrival, you get informed this when booking but would have been useful if this was included in the original price

Verified reviewYou would not believe this little oasis was in the middle of Ubud. Just a 5 minute walk from the hustle and bustle of the town with many restaurants, shops etc. I booked a bungalow with a kitchenette, lovely big terrace overlooking a jungle and views towards the pool. The room was spacious with an extra large double bed. Air conditioning was good. Hot and cold shower. Good WiFi. The beautiful pool was surrounded by nature, it was so peaceful. The breakfast was absolutely delicious - banana pancakes "yummy". The staff were so lovely and friendly, couldn't do enough for you and the 5 puppies belonging to the owner were adorable. This place was amazing at a really affordable price.
Nothing to dislike.

Verified reviewThe room was very spacious and had a patio for us to use privately. We loved the dogs too :)
Was not the property’s fault at all however if you have builders near you, music will most likely be loud and wake you up

Nothing really sticks out. The only thing that I would advise would be to update the rooms a little bit

Verified reviewStaff was very nice, location was great, pool was amazing.
Breakfast was simple and without many options, like fruit juices for drink. Bathroom did not provide any kind of soap and a full body mirror would be interesting.

Verified reviewThe bungalows were really cute and the swimming pool beautiful.
Sometimes the doggies would poo around the garden and one night we came back and they jump on our bags in a playful way but a bit intense. Overall they were really good dogs.

Verified reviewWe booked the little apartment with kitchen etc, which was more exclusive than the others. We had privacy and it was absolutely peaceful. The owner/manager was very helpful and always easy to reach. The area is so quiet, though it’s only a few minutes walk tobte main road with all the shops and restaurants. Can definitely recommend the apartment with outside kitchen!!!!

Verified reviewNothing. There was nothing to like about it.
There used to be no staff at the premises. The location was far from the main road. There were no street lights nor the hotel had adequate lights. No dustbins, soaps, shampoos, water bottles in the room. It was all dark everywhere. Even at 06 PM, it was completely dark outside the hotel and at the premises. You couldn't feel safer not in the streets nor in the hotel rooms. Felt like a horror house. There were 5-6 dogs at the property, who used to bark when you wanted to come inside and if you shouted for help, no one used to come for help. Me and my wife literally cried when dogs rounded us. It was so dark or silent that we felt terrified at night. Couldn't sleep. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone if someone prioritizes their safety. Safety comes first when in foreign country, if that's not met, nothing can satisfy you. Also request Booking.com to have clear details in reference to how safe the property is. The manager there when asked to give water bottles and provide, soap or shampoo, he literally said that they didn't provide and we have to buy these things. Though we have no problem in buying but at least beforehand information would be appreciated. It was so dark outside and in the hotel, that we couldn't muster the courage to go out and buy. Not recommending to anyone.
Hello. On behalf of Manuaba Inn, we apologize for the inconvenience you experienced at our guesthouse. We would like to respond regarding the issue you raised. Firstly, we are not surprised about this since you are Indian and are very well known for bad behavior. We also let you check the room first before checking in, and you said it was okay. We offered free cancellation if the room was not suitable for you. You stayed for a while in the room, so you should have been aware of the condition. We are just a small guesthouse with affordable prices. Expecting room amenities like the ones you mentioned is beyond our capacity. Secondly, you booked a guesthouse. If you were concerned about your safety, you should have booked a 5-star hotel, not low-budget accommodation. You also mentioned that our guesthouse is far from the main street. It is only a 5-minute walk from the guesthouse, yet you said it is far. Thirdly, we are a small guesthouse that does not offer 24-hour service. If you would like to have 24-hour service, you should book a 5-star hotel or resort, as mentioned above, not an affordable guesthouse. Fourthly, we have many guests staying at our guesthouse, and the dog behaves nicely. Regards, Manuaba Inn
