How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewI stayed at Manggis Sari for one month and enjoyed my time here. The staff perfectly balance attentiveness with privacy. It's a great location! Close enough to the main streets of Ubud while being in a quiet and peaceful garden.

Verified reviewPeaceful and quiet. Good value for money. Owner is friendly and responsive to feedback. Rooms are clean and there is filtered water dispenser and a simple kitchen we can use.
Rooms are clean but look old and in need of maintenance. The first room had slow water flowrate, but owner was generous and allowed me to use the tap in another room.

Verified reviewThe place is really nice, you can go by walk to the Ubud palace and you'll get there in less than 30 minutes, it's near to ATM's and the staff is super nice
You'll have to find a scooter rental by your own

Verified reviewStaff and also place with garden was very nice.
Cleanliness was not good. The trash can was not empty, there were stains on the patio table from previous visitors, and on the floor as well.

Verified reviewManggis Sari guesthouse location is perfect for Ubud if you want to hang out in Ubud you don't need the rent a bike or use a Grab. In 2 minutes walking distance there are a lot of local restaurants and 1 24-hour open market and 1 fancy supermarket. I stayed in the 1st floor, room and the bathroom is pretty big and gets a lot of sunlight and fresh air. The garden and common area are pretty nice and quiet, especially in the daytime. There is no traffic sound or city sound. People are very friendly and helpful always.
The potential of this place is so much but needs a little bit of work. They need to empty and clean the pool and change the covers of the bean bags. Clean and organise the kitchen area. My 2 friends stay in the room on the ground floor and they have mould on the ceiling. They could paint whole rooms to be better. Most importantly they need to change the towels and sheets. Especially the towels were terrible, with lots of stains and some holes. I kept those away and used my own towel

Verified reviewI love the outdoor space with the lovely shared seating area and Kitchenette facing the pool and garden space. also the caretaker is a very nice and helpful person. I’m very grateful to him
The rooms are in dire need of renovation and deep cleaning. There’s mold on the ceiling, tiles worn out, dirt between corners. The pool also needs cleaning!

Verified reviewAll basic facilities present.
Can get scary at night, we were the only group staying during our stay and there was no staff/other guests. Need more lights, particularly at the entrance. The water in the shower was very slow. The swimming pool is not in working condition.

Verified reviewLocation is super good as there's a big supermarket just in front of the villa, a 24 hours open restaurant and dozens of ATMs and convenience stores. Close to the monkey forest and walking distance from many places in Ubud. Only thing it is located on a crowded street intersection that makes it hard to walk and move around, but Bali is quite crowded overall in the touristic spots. The swimming pool and the garden are neat, and an awesome place where you can relax after the heat and stress of the streets. It's calm and there's an outdoor place where you can relax, eat or work. Kitchen is shared an outdoor but we didn't use it much and it's also a challenge keeping that kind of kitchen very clean. Host makes you feel welcome and is very attentive. Recommended stay if you are visiting Ubud for the first time and need to visit places around
Swimming pool was good the during the first week but then it started to get green. I told them but maybe I wasn't too clear or they were just cool about it. I didn't bother much because we were not there all the time but it would be nice consider working on that usually so it stays cool. The room was good but not as brand new as in the photos. Might need new paint and improve the state of the floor

Verified reviewThe guesthouse is very beautiful, there is a lot of vegetation and a pool. Perfect place to relax. There is a common kitchen that can be use; free coffee or tea at all time.
I am very sorry to say that because the guesthouse itself it’s beautiful and also the plants are well taken care of. But the room was dirty on arrival, the floor looked like it was not even broomed or mopped, very dirty bed sheets. The pool also could have been much cleaner.
