How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewGreat location just outside of Ubud with excellent cafes within walking distance. I booked for a week and ended up staying for 2 months! Clean, comfortable rooms with great air-conditioning and bathrooms. The wifi is excellent by Bali standards and I had no problems doing video calls etc from my room. There's also a separate office available for guest use which is an added bonus. I also loved that drinking water was supplied and the balcony off the room had beautiful rice paddy views. There's a mini mart across the road which was very convenient. I've already booked to return next year!
Nothing! It was great! The only thing I was disappointed with was the laundry service as they consistently overcharged me, despite my clothes being exactly the same each week! This was at an offsite laundry though and so had nothing to do with the guesthouse...

Nothing will come again.

Verified reviewThe friendly staff, the size of the room with 2 double beds (we are a family with 2 children, 4 and 1 year old), the cleanliness (it was very clean, the room and also the restaurant area, everywhere clean), in general the archtiecure of the house, everything being upside down, the nice view from the balcony on the rice fields, room was quiet, the food was very tasty, the nice paintings (painted by the owner) in the eating area, the well equipped kitchen, which could be used. In general we had the feeling there everything was made with good quality. The cheeky monkey restaurant nearby with a nice play ground,, the kids loved it. FYI: You can buy food and cook on your own, there is also a fridge.
FYI: Unfortunately there was no sidewalk, like in most areas around Ubud, so you need to walk on the street. But of course that can't be influenced by the guesthouse. For us it worked out good, although felt strange at the beginning.

Verified reviewGood beds, loved the 4 pillows and the nice sheets ✔️ Good wifi ✔️ Good airco ✔️ I loved that there was a fridge available in the room ✔️ Very good shower ✔️ For my preference of places, it was a good location. Very green area. ✔️ Lot of privacy ✔️ Good scooter parking ✔️ Felt safe ✔️
Improvement possible: The homestay is located at a road. If you are a light sleeper (like me) you will hear noises from the neigbors and dogs sometimes till 1.30 am and at 6/7 am. Because it that I didn't got the best sleep over there. One of the rooms had some bugs going on. But when I asked I could move into another room. The other room had a few in the bathroom as well - for solution see next sentence. The hosts don't clean daily, you see this more often in Bali. I think it would really help and adds a lot at the quality of the place if they would clean daily. They did cleaned the room very well(!) when I specifically asked for it. Overall I would rate the place with a 7,7. Could have been a 9 if I slept better and with daily cleaning. 🙏🏼

Verified reviewExceptional staff, quiet, clean, very welcoming
The guesthouse is very new, making it clean and fresh. However for people with chemical sensitivity like me, it may not be the best fit, as some of the new materials still give off a subtle scent (something I think must people would not be bothered by).

Verified reviewThe his is the best place I have stayed at Bali. The facilities are so clean and spacious, with lots of sunlight in the room. I love that there are kitchens in the comment spaces to cook. The owners go above and beyond to make sure you are comfortable. The location is just outside of town away from the hustling bustle, surrounded by nature and still close to everything. I actually extended for another month after they’re staying for a week initially.

Verified reviewComfortable bed Includes a fridge which was nice Staff upon arrival were lovely, carried our bags upstairs and said morning ect
Location was quite far out - 15 min drive to main centre area At night all windows are open so hallway and stairs get absolutely covered in these bugs/moth things Soo many other bugs in the room over the floor Has a pool and offers breakfast but none of this was mentioned/offered upon arrival Bathroom smelled a bit weird

Verified reviewWhat a quirky place. Building is designed to look “upside down” the staff were lovely and welcoming, they even gave us a tour of the whole place and showed us other rooms. Beds were firm but very comfy. The shower has the best water pressure I’ve ever had in Bali. The room was sparkling clean. Small warung onsite and a mini market across the street. It was closer to a 15 minute drive from Ubud in a car. If you plan on going to Ubud you really need a scooter. The pool/ hot tub is really a outside covered cold water jetted shallow soaking pool.
Everything was great.

Verified reviewI would 100% recommend Hepi Yuk Guest House to anyone travelling to Ubud. We had already spent a month in Bali, by the time we booked in to Hepi Yuk, and to say that it was flawless is an understatement! The hotel room was ultra quiet (definitely the best nights sleep we both had during our time in Bali), the bed was really comfortable, the air con was super powerful and it was all really clean (there were no ants whatsoever!). The staff were all lovely and friendly, and they would always go above and beyond to help us out. The breakfast was delicious, we had the pancakes every morning and they were so thick and fluffy, with loads of flavour - I would look forward to breakfast before I went to sleep at night! We loved our stay so much at Hepi Yuk, that we returned again later on in our trip.
The bathroom smelt, but this is the case everywhere in Bali. However, the doors to the bathroom at Hepi Yuk are solid enough you don't notice it in the hotel bedroom and the aircon is so powerful that it is effective at removing the smell. Also, I always found in Bali, that after using the facilities, the water would flush through the pipes and the smell would eventually go.

Verified reviewI booked the wrong room, but the staff was very helpful and offered us to change the room. It is very clean, modern, comfortable big bed. Nice balcony with a great view (nature) and a lot of privacy. The room was cleaned regularly and we were offered fresh towels. We felt very comfortable so we extended the stay. Near to the night market, everything reachable. We visited a different waterfall everyday (short ride with scooter). Laundry service available. Scooter rent available.
