How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewGreat location in a peaceful village & within walking distance to Ubud town centre along a walking & motorbike-only path outside the Monkey Forest fence. Lovely local vibe, lots of cafes, restaurants & businesses (spas, clothes, decor) close by the hotel which is located up a quote lane way. Comfortable small hotel (6 rooms), large room, good storage, large bathroom, pleasant outlook, nice pool & gardens, very clean. Friendly, helpful staff. Able to use the reception fridge if required. Could request extra towels etc. Very enjoyable 5-night stay.
The pool was given a superchlorination after our first few days there and smelled too chemical to use, with chlorine granules evident throughout the pool, Before that the pool was perfect. I understand cleaning is required however there was no signage or information provided about the chlorine level & any risk. A small fridge would be nice.
Thank you so much for such a positive feedback! We will make sure everything’s better next time you are here. Warm regards, Buda Amitaba

Verified reviewLocation, friendly, helpful staff, quiet, close to the city centre but away behind the monkey forest with a shortcut track through. Great food close by.
Chlorine pellets visible in the pool weren’t dissolved.
Thank you so much for staying at our place. We really appreciate your review Kind regards, Buda Amitaba

Verified reviewIt is a small building with 6 rooms, very quiet and beautiful - everything was really perfect. Our room was big and next to the pool. The staff was always super helpful, they cleaned the room upon request and it was the cleanest room I've ever stained in. The position was also great, it is in a quiet area but at the same time very close to many nice restaurants and cafes. I would definitely come here again and I really recommend this place for your stay in Ubud!
Dear Martina, thank you so much for your kind words! We are glad to hear you enjoyed your stay at our place. We look forward to seeing you again at Buda Amitaba

Verified reviewaway from the crowded streets of Ubud. Very nice staff.
Unfortunately there was a lot of light coming into my room from the outdoor lamps. The curtains were too thin to block it, and I ended up having to use the eye mask provided by the airline. Not a very comfortable situation, but impossible to sleep otherwise.

Verified reviewThe staff are super nice. The location is amazing. Great neighborhood, lots to do, the hotel is about 2 minutes walk from the main street. So, really close, but you don't hear the noise from the road. The pool is nice sized. I stayed on the 2nd and 3rt floor. Both have amazing view. I would definitely come back.
In one of the rooms the bed was too soft to my taste. But that's very individually.
Thank you so much for such a detailed review. We're glad you had such a great stay with us and we hope to see you again. Much love, Buda Amitaba

Verified reviewReally well maintained property with lovely little touches everywhere. It’s in such a quiet area, but has everything you would need within a few minutes walk. The owner Ayu, and Julian who keeps the place looking very clean and tidy were helpful without being intrusive. I loved staying here.
No water refills.
Thank you so much Mrs Tania for your kind words! We are grateful for the review and were glad to you stay at our place. We are excited to host you soon. Much love, Buda Amitaba

This would have got 10/10 if the bed was comfy! Was slightly to hard and the neighborhood rooster and dog liked to wake us early haha but otherwise Great!

Verified reviewThe place looks nice and the location is good.
The rooms downstairs are too humid to stay in. Sure, more places in Bali struggle with this, but at Buda Amitaba it was another level. I know from previous experience that at such a level it affects your health (throath) as well as your clothes and bags will smell afterwards. This only seems to concern the rooms at ground floor. I had read about it in other reviews and therefore asked for a room where it would not be damp. The property indicated they could not guarantee it. That was not very encouraging and since I had to work on a project with a deadline I didn't want to take the risk and ask them to cancel my reservation (soon after booking). They replied that booking.com would not allow it, but the screenshot clearly indicated that they had to get in touch with booking.com. I told them, but I never received another reply. So, I took my chances and checked in the next day, but the room was too humid, like in some of the reviews. I was offered the option of paying for an upgrade to a family room, but that didn't feel right, since it concerned the lack of a basic feature. Hence, I didn't accept the room, left and contacted booking.com. The property ignored all communication from customer service until this day, so booking.com resolved it accordingly. Bottom line: The place looks nice and I'm sure the rooms upstairs are pleasant to stay in. But there is a total lack of responsibility e.g. for bringing in a dehumidifier after receiving feedback from guests and childishly ignoring a dispute with a client who tried to cancel prior to staying while still taking money. This is very different from anything I've experienced in Bali, where dozens of hosts all have been kind and honest.

Verified reviewI love Buda Amitaba's location. It's in the Nyuh Kuning area, close to great cafes and restaurants. The neighborhood is walkable and super nice. The room that I rented was very spacious and clean, a great value for money.
I wish the rooms had bigger kettles and more drinking water. The three small bottles they provide is very little for drinking.

Verified reviewVery rustic property feels culturally rich. It’s very clean. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. No breakfast included (it’s mentioned during booking) but there were a few places around (we faced difficulty one day mostly because we went during a public holiday and places were shut)
I was surprised that there was no tv or iron in the room. Swimming pool is not pretty swimmable but good and clean for chilling.
