Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Our stay at Arsa Wayan was a privilige and a joy. Mr Wayan and his extended family (and pets) opened their doors and their hearts to welcome us. Arsa Wayan is situated in the small village of Bakas within the region of Klung Kung. The family compound is surrounded by rice paddies with walkways making exploring the area very easy regardless of age. We were always accompanied by the matriarch dog Chilo who made sure we never got lost. The rooms were very comfortable with king sized beds, lovely cotton bedding, aircon and ensuites. The local cuisine we had at Arsa Wayan was the best we'd eaten on multiple trips to Bali. Highly recommend the cooking class to truly appreciate the work that goes into preparing the local dishes and how to best extract flavours. You don't want to eat anywhere else once you taste the food they offer. Mr Wayan and his family were very attentive whilst being very respectful of our space and family time. Mr Wayan, an important leader in his community was very generous and articulate in sharing information about Balinese culture - the extent of which was more than we had learned through our research and previous trips. He was an excellent tour guide and great company. He offered to drive our granddaughter to the Airport at 5:30 in the morning with a freshly cooked breakfast in a container for her to eat on the trip. His family became our family within 24 hours and grew from there. There is an adventure company/restaurant a close walk away if you want to kayak or a swim in the infinity pool with stunning view over the area. There is also a swing over the gorge - with all safety precautions and flowing costume. It was great fun. If you are looking for a true Balinese experience, Arsa Wayan is unbeatable. And even if you're not - it is a must experience. Our stay at Arsa Wayan was a true privilege and honour.

NetherlandsThe smell in the room was a bit stuffy.
Tranquil and relaxed atmosphere. Beautiful garden. Friendly and hospital family. Clean room, nice crisp sheets. Good breakfast and dinner. The rice fields are just around the corner of the guesthouse. Walking to the nearest restaurant is about ten minutes. The dog of the guesthouse might bring you to the restaurant! It also has big swimming pools were we had a nice swim. There is no refrigerator in the room, but we could put something in the family’s refrigerator.

Czech RepublicThe spirit of traditional bali house and houses and trees and flowers. Explanation of everything concerning bali culture and life. Super meals, especiallly dinner. You feel like a member of their family. You are in the remote village in the center of bali farmers life, if you want, you have the opportunity to live in bali without tourists. Paintings of one young family member Mako, who is also barong dancer.

AustraliaHard to fault this homestay.
Arriving at this homestay will make your jaw drop it is so beautiful. The Wayan family go out of their way to ensure you enjoy the homestay and village life. The breakfast is sensational and dinners are delicious. The family loaned us sarongs and invited us to partake in a ceremony at the temple. A top homestay. Also recommend a 15 minute walk or 3 min ride to LakLak Penganon for the best, cheapest lunch and coffee you will have in Indonesia.

NetherlandsI never give a 10, now I do so! Excellent stay. Beautiful (very typical) Bali’s guesthouse. Great hosts and delicious food. Take advantage of the extended host's knowledge of Bali's culture and nature, and hire him also as a driver and personal guide. You will see the most beautiful places in East Bali! And I have learned and seen a lot about the Bali culture We’ll come back for sure.

The most loving, caring and including family. Thank you for sharing history and giving so much back to your own community. This was for us the real Bali. Food was amazing and so was our stay. It's so beautiful to just walk around; rice fields, nature, jungle. There are also lots of activities to do as rafting, hiking, elephants, waterfalls etc,, . For people that are craving the real Bali in a place that is still is virgin.

The family who is running this guest house is amazing. Their home is beautiful and they are incredibly accommodating. The room was spacious and breakfast was really good. They even accommodated our vegan diet. They will take you on tours of the area depending on your interests from museums to white water rafting, and they are incredibly knowledgeable about the region and what there is to do. It was really a treat to get to tay in such a beautiful balinese home, with a beautiful courtyard.

Setting was family compound with porches on one side. Local artist's beautiful woodwokingi was incorporated into compound. The food was really home cooked, plentiful and beautifully presented. The host gave us a walking tour of the surrounding area, which was a series of rice fields and community structures and activities. He also gave us a tour of Klungkung, including the Royal Palace where he told us about the history of the city.

ItalyThe bed was quite stiff but not unbearable. Maybe a bigger table or drawer in the room could help to organize belongings / clothes.
We wanted a place off the beaten track that felt like the real Bali and we found it. It was amazing: the house was incredible, outstanding vegetation and a small temple. The room was modest but extremely clean and nice. Bathroom was was also nice and very well cleaned. Be aware that - being close to a nice vegetation - you will hear birds, dogs, insects, it's part of the game. Ari was an impressive host. He told us the story of his house, many traditions of his island, many places we could visit and every time we came back - even if a bit late - he would always welcome us and have a chat with us. We highly recommend it if you want to experience a real stay and relax.
