How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewIt was affordable and the staff on duty was friendly.
Initially I was booked into room 2.2. The bathroom has no ventilation. The ceiling and walls were covered in mould with an unsettling smell which you can’t ignore. To me this intensity of mould is a health hazard. The bedsheets wasn’t clean. In the centre of the sheet there was still a spot of blood from what could have been a mosquito bite from the previous person. The sheet had an array of other dirt marks on it too. I requested to leave and get a refund by messaging the host but didn’t get a reply. A bit later I got hold of the staff member on duty (a friendly guy who apologised). He offered me a different room, nr 2.5. The new room’s bed sheet also wasn’t clean, so he replaced with a fresh sheet (though it also had stains on.) He apologised again. The water in the basin took ages to drain. The wifi network mentioned on the login card didn’t show up when scanning from my phone. Overall I had better experiences for the same/less money.

Nobody around in the mornings - the room smelled of sweat - it was disgusting. Also the building looked very run down. Felt more like a basic hostel than a hotel.

Verified reviewLOCATION! Adhi Jaya has perhaps the best views over the terraces of any of the accommodation in Jatiluwih. The Adhi Jaya has been a regular for some years, and I stop for a night on EVERY trip to Bali. The room is spotless, aircon efficient, has coffee/tea making facilities, bed and pillows comfortable, and wifi fast and reliable. Rooms 4 & 5 are now the best for views, with a new restaurant blocking views from others. AJ is only a short walk from the viewing point for early morning pics of the sunrise over Mounts Agung and Batur, and hose views are spectacular. Right across the road from the viewing point is a lady serving a traditional Balinese breakfast and coffee/tea, the cost of which is almost nothing.
The access has become difficult with the development of a restaurant property in front of AJ. It blocks he views from some of the rooms, and will no doubt increase noise levels. Parking is now about 50 meters distant, and a narrow walkway along the irrigation canal is uninviting. There is currently no sign showing where the entry is, and it badly needs one. I was lucky that a staff member was on the verandah, and I got his attention. He came down to meet me.

Roosters going at it all day and night. Literally right next to my room.. sure it's normal in Asia but i don't care. You NEVER get use to it. Slept only till 4am both nights then the two roosters went at it. I wear earplugs no problem but it had no effect. The owners should really do something about it. Wish I hadn't booked two nights

Verified reviewLove the location. But even that was impacted by new building in front. The rooms are large and adequate - clean (mostly) and comfortable in most.
A new building in front blocked the entire view (for which you stay at that location). The appeal is the view over the rice paddies - you now look at the back of a roof. Had to walk across a building site to access the rooms. The bathroom has lots of mould - dangerous.

Verified reviewThe location is very convenient, just a few footsteps from the start of the Jatiluwih Unesco walking loops, and close to a few restaurants. The staff is super friendly. The room is comfortable and the views are great. I'd recommend paying a little extra to get one of the "suites", which means you'll be a little higher and have better views.
I forgot to tell the staff but I would recommend the homestay to add an extra curtain behind the room doors to limit the daylight as it gets very bright at dawn.

Verified reviewAdhi Jaya has perhaps the BEST views of the rice terraces in Jatiluwih, unfortunately spoiled by power lines, but that's not the fault of AJ. The room is comfortable, spotlessly clean, good bed and pillows, and a functional bathroom, and generally quiet.. Wifi was reliable and good, and tea and coffee making facilities are available. I've been a regular at AJ for several years, every two months.
The access is less than good, steep, irregular and mossy steps, and with development of the land in front, right on the road, it's probably going to get worse. Motorcycle parking is now about 40 metres distant, due to the development.

Verified reviewCosy and clean room. Beautiful view from the terrace. Very friendly and helpful staff! Great restaurants within 1 minute walking distance.
Not a complaint but a recommendation for future visitors: try to get a room on the second floor in the newer building, as we did. In front of the older building there is a new construction going on and the view to the rice terrace is a little limited. It's not the fault of the hotel but I think it's good to know.

I've been a regular at Adhi Jaya for a few years, one night ever 2 months, and I stay there just for the view, possibly the best view of the rice terrace of all the accommodation. The room was spotless, water 2X water provided, bed and pillow comfortable, aircon effective, and wifi fast and reliable. Breakfast is not offered, but there are a number of warungs close by.
