How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

We ordered cot for baby which we never got, room was dirty with hair on bed sheets and dead insects near window and hand towel was dirty as well contacted customer service saying I was disappointed with state of room and that my baby has no cot nothing happened and they said management is going to contact me which never happened... Verified reviewThe location was great. View from the room was very pleasant. It's in an old building with character. Ease of access when getting into the building. Daily room service. Bed turndown. Overall room was a good size.
Smell from toilet or shower. Air conditioning didn't work for a day. But did get fixed. Tv channels worked randomly. Had about 4 or 5 consistently the rest were temperamental. Bed quilt was too small for the cover. Pillows were massive but mattress was comfortable. 2 key cards would have been nice.

Overall, a disappointing stay. The room had a persistent moldy smell from the moment we arrived. It clearly hadn’t been cleaned properly — hairs on the bed, yellow stains on the mattress, and dust on nearly every surface like it hadn’t been touched in ages. The bathroom was no better, with visible stains in the shower and sink. Worse, the indoor AC unit — installed right above the room door — was constantly dripping water. So much so that you’d catch at least one drop trying to walk in or out. The carpet underneath was soaked (see picture), and honestly, an indoor unit shouldn’t be leaking like that in the first place. We also paid extra for a “city view,” which turned out to be mostly the roof of the neighboring building. The window wasn’t even really accessible unless you squeezed into the corner between the bed and the nightstand. Room service was nonexistent. We hung the sign before 10am (around 9:30), but no one ever came — not even to make the bed. Speaking of the bed, the sheet didn’t fit the mattress and slipped off constantly with any movement. To conclude we were happy to leave as early as possible after the two booked nights.

Verified reviewWonderful location, just off the Danube and near Buda Castle, and great value for money. When I arrived, the room had not been cleaned since the departure of the last guest, but the service was excellent: the hotel staff were super responsive, agreeing to have it cleaned the next morning. They did their best to ensure I enjoyed my stay and were very friendly. I would certainly stay here again!

Verified reviewExcellent room in the Buda side of Budapest, very close to Buda Castle. Easy access to public transport. Nice shower, air conditioning available, comfy bed. Quiet room also. The communication via WhatsApp was excellent, the staff was very kind, they called me a few days before my stay to check if everything was alright and even booked the taxi for me from the airport.

Verified reviewIt's really close to the center and can checkin earlier, so only need to get the keypad.
It smelled like rotten meat there. The AC or the open window didn't help at all for it. It was smelly whole stay there. Seems like it's mold, because there was some in bathroom. Sheets were too small for the bed. Cleaning included,,none came to clean while we stayed there.

Verified reviewFantastic location. Right between two castles and the parliament. You have everything in walking distance that you can have a good rest between two stops. Apartment was in good condition, supplying everything you need during the trip.
things to be noted: there is an elevator, but you still need to carry your luggage on your own for the first and the last floor; the lock on the gateway is not functioning well sometimes. If you found you cannot press it, use WhatsApp to connect with the staff immediately

Verified reviewThe apartment is located near the centre, making it very comfortable to go to the entertainment. It is located in a private house. The room is not big, but there is a toilet, a shower, and a small refrigerator. There is no noise. It is self-service as no staff inside the apartments. There is a shop about 400 m from the apartment to the left side. The owner provides wth tea, coffee. The communication is well organised, but you can have WhatsApp.
