Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomIt could do with either a full-length mirror or even a decent sized one somewhere in the apartment. There was one above the sink in the bathroom but could only use it for brushing hair / removing makeup etc.
Great view from the balcony and the bed was super comfortable.

United KingdomNothing, we really cant fault anything.
The hosts were very polite and accommodating. Communication was very easy through messaging in Booking.com. We hired two apartments and the one we had on the first floor was the best of the two as we had a balcony that looked over the bay and we had a separate lounge/bedroom. Our teenage boys shared an apartment next to the pool which was perfect for their needs. All rooms had aircon and a safe. Although small the pool serves its purpose very well and cools you down at the end of hot day. The pool, pool area, outside seating and all the off the outside grounds are kept very well. The location is perfect for walking 10mins down the road to the shops and restaurants or you can walk the 180 steps down to the beach and beach path. coming back at night walked along the main street of restaurants and then along the road up the gradual hill. Bus route into Dubrovnik is a 10min walk down the road and the No6 bus runs until almost midnight. This was the perfect stay and we would certainly stay here again 10/10

IrelandThe management of the villa were not the best. On the first night of the stay I received a message requesting payment for the stay.. €50 more than the price of the stay when I had already paid in full! This confusion did taint the experience as it was stressful. The lady who took care of the apartment was lovely at the beginning of the stay but was not very friendly at the end, merely wanted us gone!
The location was great, short walk into Lapad. This walk involves many steps so anyone older or with mobility issues would need a taxi! The pool was lovely and the view from the room was breathtaking! Large living area and balcony. Kitchen area is very well equipped with everything you could need.

United KingdomThe pool wasn't in use - this was not declared when we booked the property. When we asked she told us that the weather was too bad to fill the pool (it was sunny and dry the whole time??)
Easy to collect the keys, had to pay an extra 10 euro as we arrive at 10pm

United KingdomShower cubicle slightly on the small side, maybe 2 more pillows too.
Brilliant stay at Villa Katrina! The location is fantastic and the views are incredible. Around a 50 minute stroll to the Old Town (about €6-7 in an uber) and about €28 in an uber from the airport. Apartment itself was great, all the amenities you would need and a supermarket a 5 minute walk away for any essentials. Bed was comfy, my only marginal complaint was that the shower cubicle is really small, but again that’s just a personal gripe. Would hands down recommend to anyone to stay there, purely for the views across Lapad Beach. Thank you!

Germany2 negatives that detracted a little. Firstly we arrived on Saturday and the pool was empty. It was not useabe after cleaning and filling, until Wednesday. Building work in the adjacent building started before 0730, hammer drilling isn't the nicest alarm clock.
Easy arrivals process and the property arranged the airport pickup. Very clean and bright apartment with a well equipped kitchen. The view from the balcony over Lapad was very pretty. As a late checkout was not possible, the property looked after our luggage until we left for the airport at 2pm.

United KingdomThe apartment had amazing views over Lapad beach, which is one of the main reasons we chose it when looking at places to stay in Dubrovnik, close to the old town, but did not want to pay the level of expense of hotels in the surrounding area. The apartment was really clean, had the basics needed for the kitchen to cover breakfast or cooking pasta, the shower was powerful (a big plus), the bed was nice and comfy, with TV and Wifi . In terms of wider contact, the Host was always quick to respond in terms of messages and sent us a link about the Villa and the area before our arrival. We had messaged the Host about the check-in time due to our flight being later than planned in the evening, but the Host was able to accommodate us by having a person meet/greet us there to hand over the keys. (We provided a small tip as a thank you). Location-wise wise the apartment to get to the promenade was a short walk (down via 188 steps - given the location to be expected) or you could take a short, much flatter walk taking a slightly longer 5/walk to the end of the road and back round. The promenade takes you all around Lapad beach, and there are lots of restaurants and shops for a range of tastes, with plenty of places to sit as well and watch the world go by. The beach is cobbled, but plenty of space to sit out and go for a swim to cool down. The bus stop to the Old Town is 250m from the apartment at the end of the road, you can get tickets from the kiosk or purchase a Dubronvik pass online before you come (it only activates when you first use it). The number 6 runs every 15 minutes from 6 am to midnight so it was never long to wait. The ride was a short 10 minutes ride, it would be walkable in about 45-60 minutes for those wanting to stretch their legs.

United KingdomThe TV had little in terms of English channels, but to be expected, and not really needed on holiday but maybe on rainy days. WiFi was sometimes a little patchy. We would have liked an extra few pillows on the bed for our preference but used the throw cushions from the sofa. A word of caution if booking the superior apartments at the top of the building, there are 2 flights of steep steps to consider if you are able to climb them/carry your bags.
We loved the beautiful balcony and its view over the bay. It really never got old to wake up to the view of Lapad bay every day, watching the water, seeing the islands and the trees of the National park opposite. The hob and cooking facilities came in really helpful when we needed to cook (due to the high costs of the restaurants). The bathroom was small but very functional and nice shower. The plunge pool was so nice to use during the high heat. Most of all the lovely team that changed our towels every 2 days and a wonderful cleaning service halfway through stay. The girls were so kind and friendly and a pleasure to see around, they’d always help with any questions and helped arrange our taxi back to the airport. If not getting a bus, I’d thoroughly recommend asking the property to help with taxis, as airport taxis cost double! The welcome pack before staying was also very helpful, and our host kindly helped out when we had noisy neighbours. A beautiful stay at Villa Katarina, in a luxury area for a very cost effective price. We felt incredibly lucky to be enjoying the same views and sunsets as those in the premium hotels below. We were able to walk down to the famous cave bar for a sundown drink right on the water. We adored Lapad’s scenery and the bay, with local supermarkets and restaurants in walking distance. Unfortunately we were surprised at the very high cost of dining, perhaps to be expected in a tourist area but we were not prepared for this. Dishes such as bolognese or past cost up to €27-30 so be prepared for this in your budget. We found an excellent fast food restaurant (Tuttobene) with many healthy options that was cheaper which we could bring back to the balcony. Several supermarkets are nearby which helped us with breakfast/lunch options.
