How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe property was beautiful. We slept listening to the rivers music, in a big and comfortable bed. The pool was refreshing, even more at night and Walter helped us in every query. I would definitely go back and I recommend it to everyone else coming to La Ceiba for a different experience :D

Verified reviewGorgeous location in the Cangrejal Valley with a stunning view of El Bejuco waterfall across the valley. The room was private, clean and so comfortable. I enjoyed hiking on the property and in the national park a short walk up the road. Whitewater rafting through the massive boulders of the Cangrejal with parakeets flying above was a thrilling highlight. The rafting staff was professional and informative. I felt well taken care of at the hotel by Walter and Maribel.

Verified reviewThe location was perfect with beautiful views across to the waterfall and national park. The room was large with ceiling fans which were perfectly adequate to keep cool at night without aircon. The beds large and very comfortable and the room very clean. The pool was a lovely addition and the kitchen had most things we needed. Coffee and water was provided for free. The biggest bonus is Walter, the manager. He went over and beyond to help us have a fantastic stay from collecting us from the ferry, organising trips with English speakers and dropping us at the bus station when we left. Nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommend.
This is not a didn't like but the only thing that wasn't so easy was that the kitchen was shut so there was no food available. This was a bit of a surprise but Walter took us to a supermarket to buy food for the 5 days we were there. It was difficult to know what to buy as we didn't know what was there. There was no supplies in the kitchen at all and we could have done with some extra bits like oil and condiments. Again not a big problem but just would have been good to know before hand.

Verified reviewThe owner Pepe is great - we didn't meet him but we were in touch over WhatsApp - easy to book tours with him before hand, and answer any questions once there and he even checked in on us to make sure everything was going well. He also had his employee Walter bring us some Honduras chocolate and upgraded us to a bigger room after one night (without us asking). Walter was our onsite contact and was fantastic - he picked us up from the bus, brought us to Wal Mart for groceries (the restaurant wasn't open during our stay (except for breakfast) - not an issue b/c he makes that very clear before arrival so we were prepared and had dinner a few minute walk away at Jungle Lodge each night). He also brought us a flashlight when the power went out in the area. Great pool and common areas. The guide that Walter organized to take us on the tours we did was great as well. Bring plenty of cash - we thought we could use credit cards for the tours, but in the end, they wanted cash...it turned out fine though because the employee who drove us to the ferry after our stay made a stop at an ATM. Wi-fi worked well in common areas, and in the larger room we were in.
Not really bad, but just a heads up - if you are booking the cheapest, small room and you are more than one person, it is VERY small. We usually don't mind small, but we would not have wanted to stay in this room for more than one night and were grateful that we were upgraded to a larger room for the rest of our stay. The larger room was huge and very comfortable.

Verified reviewThis property is absolutely beautiful! You must stay in the main house that looks out towards the river. The home has access to the river.
The free breakfast that was advertised was not offered. However, we did have a full kitchen.

Verified reviewGorgeous location, amazing views of the National Park, mountains and waterfall. Lovely pool area and big communal space. We were upgraded to a larger room for free which was very generous! Walter was great and helped to organise hiking trips and white water rafting, both of which were fantastic!!
On weekdays it is completely self-catered. We were told this and went to the supermarket on the way to the hotel with Walter, but we were still expecting a bit more to be provided, like coffee, than there was. But not a problem, just worth being aware!

Verified reviewAmazing place to stay right in the jungle. The property and pool were beautiful and surrounded by wildlife. Walter was a fantastic host with great communication and even let us borrow his binoculars so we could see the Toucans. The hotel has access to the river where you can go rafting, plus there is a lovely walking trail starting inside the hotel grounds. One of the best places we’ve stayed.
Kitchen is closed on weekdays (but open for guest use, which was great for us) so bring your own food to cook or go to one of the local restaurants

Verified reviewThe hotel has a nice pool with a great view of the “jungle” and you can see the waterfall. From the restaurant and balcony you can enjoy the same view. The staff and owner were very friendly and checked on me and made sure if I needed something. I was upgraded to a larger room (with a shower with good water pressure), which was nice, because I was the only guest. You can use the kitchen and fridge and there is a water tank. The hotel can arrange activities like rafting or hiking if you like.
Because of the beautiful view, the hotel is situated higher up so you need to walk a bit uphill and some steps, which was ok for me, but good to know. While I was there, the restaurant wasn’t open, so I had my meals in the next lodge, which was very close and nice to see, since they are located next to the river. There are other options to have your meals, but are further away. Since the restaurant was closed it would have been nice to be able to have free coffee or tea to make yourself.

Verified reviewWalter was amazing and helped us whenever we needed it. He picked us up from La Ceiba for 400L, booked rafting, answered our questions and was very kind and friendly. Pepe was a great host and welcoming us into his hotel. The location is beautiful, stunning mountain views, lovely pool, kitchen to use, beer to buy, comfy beds, good wifi, warm showers, amazing rafting tour. Stay for as long as possible!
The fridge in the kitchen didn't work and we had to keep moving our things in and out of the freezer to keep them cold. Some of the kitchen equipment was old, dirty and rusty and could do with replacing (e.g. pans and spatulas).
