How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewBest hotel I stayed in during my 12 days in Honduras. Kind host, nice-sized room, beautiful views from the balcony, and a great location only a few minutes from the center of town.

Verified reviewThis is a gem of a small hotel. Blanka is friendly and accommodating, breakfast is excellent (and changes daily), and the view from the breakfast patio is beautiful. If you can get one of the two balcony rooms, you can enjoy the view all the time! The garden area is also nice and provides shade on hot afternoons. It's a short walk from the hotel to the center. That said, Copan Ruinas's cobblestone streets are steep, so be prepared to walk up and down a lot. If the hills get to you, you can always catch at tuk-tuk for 20 lempiras. The hotel wi-fi is reliable and drinking water is always available. My bathroom was clean and well lighted, there was plenty of space to hang clothes, and the a/c worked well.
The only thing I missed in my room was a desk and chair.

Verified reviewI was concerned that this hotel may be a little far from the center of town and too far away to walk to the Copan Ruins. It turns out that the location is perfect. It is a couple of blocks from the center, but that is a good thing. The center of town is absolute chaos in the evenings with tuk-tuk's and motorbikes screaming up and down the streets. La Escalinata is located just far enough away that it is nice and peaceful at night, but close enough to the center that you can walk to the restaurants in just a few minutes. I also easily walked to the Copan ruins from the hotel in about 20 minutes. On the way back, it is uphill, but you can hire a tuk-tuk to take you back for just $1-$2 if you prefer. The air conditioning worked well and there was ample hot water for the shower. I'm not sure why, but I slept like a rock at this place! It was very quiet at night and the bed was comfortable. I was located at the back of the building and the view of the hills, jungle, and sunset in the evenings from my little attached balcony was beautiful! Finally, the kind lady who runs the hotel is a wealth of information about the area and even had good recommendations for places to visit elsewhere in Honduras. I enjoyed talking with her very much.
Overall, I was quite satisfied with my stay. If I was forced to suggest an improvement it would be to add a small table or additional shelving to the room to make it a little easier to unpack your things.

Buildings seemed to amplify sounds. Ear plugs help.

Verified reviewBlanca, the owner of the hotel took care of her guests. She gave recommendations how we can get to and from places we want to go and visit. Breakfast was included in our stay. We did not have the same meal during our stay. We had delicious homemade and filling breakfast daily. The room was big and spacious enough for 4 people. The location of the hotel is convenient that everything in city proper is within 5-minute walking distance.

Verified reviewBreakfast was nice, and I'm glad it was a different menu the two mornings we spent there. Although the location was a little far from downtown, it was still within walking distance, which was nice. I also loved the balcony from the room.
The beds were not super comfortable, but otherwise we had no complaint that could actually be fixed by the hotel. For example, power went out city-wide the last night, which meant no A/C and no wifi. Luckily, power came on before bed, so we were able to sleep under cooler conditions, but there isn't anything the hotel could have done to prevent that. I would suggest, however, getting a back-up battery for the wifi router. My daughter would have appreciated having that to do while the electricity was out. The only other thing is that I wish the hotel was closer to downtown, but there is no way to remedy that.

The hill you have to trudge to walk to the hotel. Balcony is very small in the room, but the view is very nice.

Verified reviewAmazing! wonderful hotel atop hill with multi levels overlooking hilly tropical forest view with cicadas singsonging away from our private balcony. With best beds I’ve slept in for a long while woke refreshed to strong hot shower and delicious breakfasts (and strong great Honduran coffee) on the hotel patio. I did yoga in the morning in another garden area! Fast wifi. Really liked host - kind and made it look easy getting us booked to La Cieba - which was nearly impossible according to all the blogs.

Verified reviewThe room had a great view from the small balcony. The breakfast was varied each day, the staff were available but obtrusive. Few minutes walk from the main square but nice and quiet (as is most of Copán Ruinas at night). Comfortable large beds. Fan and a/C to chose from.
The room felt a bit small because you couldn't see the balcony door from the beds.
