How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewReally nice house, very clean and comfortable. Bed was comfortable and the AC in the room was a blessing given how hot it was! Our host, Benji, was straight up great. Gave us a little tour round town, pointed out places to go and some to avoid, and other tips for our travels. Would come again
The kitchen could do with a few more bits and pieces, some bowls, a bottle opener, things to stir your cooking with, stuff like that

Verified reviewIf you are looking for something affordable this is probably the best option. The shared room was clean and there were only two beds so it is not packed.
The owner messaged me at 9:40 asking when we planned to leave because they needed to clean the room, which is a bit early in my opinion.

Verified reviewWe were really surprised in a positive way - instead of a big dorm room we got a double room with one bunk bed. We had access to the kitchen and a bathroom. So we basically had a whole alertness to ourselves. Seems like the house is divided into 4 apartments and if it’s not fully booked, you’re alone in one of the apartments. Kitchen was equipped with basic cutlery, but no salt/oil etc. 2 big fridges for use Very clean and good shower (not hot, but warm)
The location is quite far away from the center and the beach There’s basically nothing around But you find some little restaurants down the main road The owner isn’t the friendliest person, only speaks Spanish and tries to offer his services for tours, taxi etc but is kind of pushy and rude about it

Verified reviewThe staff was good, the property was clean
It’s located at a dangerous area, the entrance is not paved , no lightning , a very lonely place, I dint felt safe, if you don’t have a car you probably will be assaulted walking to or from the facility , locals told me that they are gansters in the area that “protect” also description on the website is not the actual description of the facility. It said that my room has a balcony and it has not, you definitely must have a car or taxi to get to this location.
Saludos Frans, thank you for writing this review and expressing your feelings this way, we really respect your opinion...Let me start with letting you know that the city of Tela and our neighborhood is safe,.. We are locals, we grow up here and we know how people are , also we are a big family in the neighborhood and of course we live in peace..People has been coming from all Around the world to stay with us, after coming back from the restaurant especially night time, they love to see children playing soccer on the road and local people having conversations with them and how secure they feel, they said how lovely and respectful locals are...Believe me your opinion matters to Us, but not just because you are afraid and feel insecure people will come over and harm you..We know that you come from Sampedro sula, and it is kind of dangerous there, but not here in Tela my friend...Gracias enjoy your traveling and never stop .. Namaste 🙏

Verified reviewThis hostel has opened up just recently. It's very clean, roomy and has comfortable beds. The hosts are really lovely people and super helpful. They helped us to book a tour to Punta Sal national park which was amazing. Around the hostel there are many little shops where you can buy food and drinks. The hostel is located 20 minutes walk from beautiful Playa Bonito Beach. City Centre is about 5-10 minutes more. They showed us the local restaurant Maya Vista that is located on the hill and provides stunning view and serves really good food. There are more restaurants in city centre, one we can really recommend is Verdi restaurant in front of Bruschis pizza. There is also a good local restaurant La Carneada nearby the hostel . We used the Christina bus company that was very safe, comfortable and fast , Direct buses. Tela is a nice town with long, wide beaches almost without people and tourists. We felt there very safe. Definitely worth visiting.
