How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The pictures are not real. It’s not comfortable to sleep. The air conditioner is very noisy. The shower heater is not working. The toilet seat is broken. The room is very small for 3 people. We thought there are 3 beds based on the description that’s why I booked the room but there is one double bed (looks like single) and a futon on the floor that can occupy the whole space. There are 3 pillows and only 2 blankets. The TV is not working. No channels. The wallpaper is ripped! The bathroom door is not opening and closing properly.
Hi Kathy, we are not sure what do you mean by “chaotic” but certainly this is not a very accurate, mutual and proper word to describe. During the summer holidays, there are many different travelers from all over the world visiting hk, as you may know, it’s peak season here and therefore hotels and hostel price are all raised. We provide a better choices for budget travelers so that they can stay in prime location at reasonable price. ALL hostels are located in old buildings, yet in prime location, therefore we can provide a reasonable affordable price for staying. Most likely you have never stayed in hostels in HK, we would suggest you could choose hotels instead if you could afford at least 2 times of price more, there might meet your expectation. Last but not least, what you said is not relevant as we have never heard from you during your 6-day stays, i believe if it’s really like what you said, you would have come to talk to us already or at least ask for changing room.

Hi, not sure what standard did you use to evaluate us, but certainly we know that you have never come to hk and use your own standard of living to value us. For those who did not do a lot of research before coming to HK, you could be quite disappointed we can assure. For most of the people from different places, HK is relatively an expensive tourist spots. Although HK is a world-known international , financial city, but still there are quite a lot of historical buildings mixed in different district which many tourists may not know. Just because it’s an expensive place to travel, many travelers may choose cheaper accommodation like hostels(like us), however the value of hostel may equal to the value of hotels in your own country and therefore you may have a wrong expectation. HK is also famous by its small size, not only us, also hotels size are relatively much smaller than other places, but at higher price. Hostels like us could only located in historical building, but in prime location to provide budget accommodation for travelers. If you want hotel standard, you could choose those at 3-4 times price more for the same district. Nevertheless, our hostels price is already very reasonable compared to other hostels in same area. Hope next time you could do more research before choosing one that suits your standard.

hello, thank you for your booking for a single room with us. Our single rooms are all without window indeed (which you have already known when you book), Other room types are not guarantee with windows. Some of you may not be familiar with the settings of HK hostels, we are in fact have a number of rooms divided from a flat/ apartment, therefore each room facing different direction and some may not have windows and is subject to room availability. The building itself is historical and in 1960s local style, it’s one of the interesting and cultural experience as i believe that travelers not only like to see the modern face of HK. Many movies with famous artists have came here to film before too.

The building itself is very run down and a bit tricky to find. The room, although small was fine for what we needed it for, two beds and a wet room (which had definitely seen better days). The main issue was with the cleanliness. There was stains on the bedding (quilt cover and bottom sheet) as well as the towels. There’s certain things you can let slide with budget accommodation such as room size, the upkeep of the room itself, but clean bedding/towels is the bare minimum that should be provided. If you’re happy to overlook cleanliness for this price then this will suit you just fine.

Please understand that as a budget hostel, it’s not fair to compare us to hotels, especially given our low prices. Our guests choose us for our affordability, and we have our own costs and budgets to manage as well. While our rooms may not be very large and are located on different floors, and we don’t have 24-hour front desk service, we offer a variety of room types to cater to different needs. Guests have the option to upgrade their rooms if they are not fully satisfied. Additionally, we have a professional receptionist and a lounge area to assist guests, which is often not available in hotels. We are committed to addressing our guests' needs and continually strive to improve our facilities. We are currently redecorating some rooms to better meet your expectations. Verified reviewThis place is absolutely fine for those who wants a budget accommodation. I was confused by some of the negative comments under the hostel and tbh was kinda worried. But what I got was definitely better than I expected. The room is nice with windows (although I have been told that some of the rooms are without windows). My bedsheets and floor are clean, restroom was fine, although the hot water was not looting enough due to the cold weather. But these are fine for a budget place cuz you know you are not here to find a luxurious experience. The staff are nice. They responded me in WhatsApp and Booking.com. They even sent me reminders for checkin which was very guest friendly.

Everything. It is messy to find the reception and they don't indicate it. The building is old, but also dirty. The room had a used towel, no cleaned and A USED COVID TEST ON THE FLOOR. We left the day after the first night, having booked 4 nights with them. If you travel in the budget and just go there to sleep without caring about clean state, I guess it's good enough. Otherwise, avoid it. We mentioned the covid test when they asked why we were leaving earlier and they say "oh, no. Well, I'm afraid I can't do anything else but just proceed with your check out'. So don't expect more than just a toilet to s*it and a bed to sleep.
We sincerely apologize that your check-in experience did not meet your expectations. Due to the high rental costs in Hong Kong, our rooms are relatively small. However, our hotel is favored by backpackers and budget-conscious travelers because of our excellent location in the city center, convenient transportation, and great value. We understand that guests seeking experiences similar to those in South Asia may find our offerings different. Nonetheless, we pride ourselves on providing reasonable prices, cleanliness, convenience, and a friendly service attitude. Verified reviewThis is a lie! All photos look good and the rooms look clean. In reality it was not like that at all! I booked for my family of 4 for seven nights (Jan 3th to 9th,.2025) and one of our friend booked hers. We decided to add one night on Jan 2th. The hostel replied us that they had rooms. When we went there checked in, a guy led us to our rooms and we were all shocked! We walked through a corridor like a store room, dark and packed with stuff and luggages, and a dirty water machine without water but dirty mould!! We entered the room seeing dead spiders and a cockroach on the floor The bathroom was without toilet paper. It's obvious that they just wanted to do business and trying to get us two rooms. Ridiculous! My credited card was charged for one day extra when I asked for one more night. My friend's credit card didn't get through online so she had to pay HK$350 cash when checking in. After we saw the room conditions, we said we wanted to change rooms or refund. The owner said he didn't receive money but booking.com got the money. So we asked for the HK$350 cash refund but at first he didn't want. He kept saying that we had checked in so everything was set and non refundable! I told him that he wasn't honest! First, all photos were craftily made to look nice, second, he should have told us no rooms on Jan 2th so we wouldn't pay for two dirty rooms which were not acceptable. My children felt sick about the hostel! My booking was non refundable. I paid Canadian $ 770 but I didn't stay for 5 mins! It was my family trip with a good friend from Japan! This hostel ruined our trip and disgraced Hong Kong.

There is not much information at the entrance of the building since it is located in a multipurpose and multi-entry building, the people surrounding the area are not very skilled with another language besides Chinese and are not very willing to help.
