How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewClean and Well-Located Budget Stay – Best for Short Visits I stayed here as a solo traveller for one night. The room was clean, and the location is excellent – ideal for accessing nearby attractions or transport links. The price is also very reasonable, offering good value for a short stay. While the room is small, it includes all the basic amenities such as toiletries, slippers, a TV, and air conditioning. It’s a practical option if you're just looking for a place to rest overnight. A few things to note: the reception is unmanned. To check in, you’ll need to use the phone provided to the right of the main entrance to call the operator, who will then give you access codes for both the building and your room. There are a lot of negative reviews, and while this place won’t suit everyone, especially for longer stays, it serves its purpose well for a quick, budget-friendly stopover. If I were staying for more than one night, I’d likely choose a different hotel for added comfort.
Important Arrival Tips for Finding the Hostel Finding the hostel can be confusing, as the directions are not very clear. You’ll need to enter Chungking Mansions to reach the property. At the entrance, you may encounter a group of South East Asian men offering various services – this can feel intimidating, but it’s best to ignore them and proceed directly to the elevators. Once inside, walk past the currency exchange counters. You’ll see two elevators on the left-hand side – one serves even-numbered floors and the other odd-numbered floors, so make sure to queue for the correct one based on your room number. Be prepared for a wait, as these elevators serve over 20 different hostels and stop at most floors. To save time, consider joining the faster-moving queue and take the lift to a floor just above or below your destination, then walk one flight of stairs to your actual floor. These tips should help you avoid confusion and reach your room more efficiently.

Verified review1. I like the fact that I didn't have to deal with a long check-in. The password was sent to me and I entered the hotel facility. 2. Very nice location which close to all landmarks around beautiful Hong Kong. 3.Double decker bus A21 takes you from the International airport straight to the hotel for $3-4 in 50 mins. 4. Room is small but very comfortable for a 1-2 night stay. 5. Many options to travel around the city: taxi, buses, subway, ferry.
1. Navigation was hard. I barely found a hotel and nobody knew how to get to the Time Hostel. On guy almost directed me to another neighborhood but thankfully I didn't listen to him. Whoever reading: once you enter crowded building with bunch of sales people, go straight and make a first left to the elevator and go to 16 floor. You will see a man controlling elevator. 2. Management needs to update the Hotel name on the first floor because nothing was indicating "Time Hostel" 3. Bunch of shady people at the entrance are trying to hook you up with some stuff.

Verified reviewConvenient to walk around, easy access to public transportation and subway stations. Not far to walk to Symphony of lights, Harbour Promenade, Avenue of Stars, Victoria Harbour.
The facility is located at 16th floor. Sometimes need to wait for long time for elevator. The loading capacity of the lift is limited, sometimes need to wait for few rounds to be served.

Verified reviewLocation is great, no noise and easy to access. Entrance by code so I could easily enter late when I checked in after midnight.
Overall the place seemed clean, but I noticed the bathroom was not 100% (soap residue and a used tissue...). The mattress is very very hard. For me it was alright, but it might be too uncomfortable for some. On the last night I received a new entrance code and it didn't work, so it was a bit stressful but I called the staff using the reception phone and they figured it out for me quickly! 👍 Overall I could still stay there again for a few nights, it was good value for a private room.

Verified reviewWe liked that the accommodation is very well located! with independent entrance and exit from reception
We didn't like that the room and bathroom were smaller than expected, and that there was no specific place to shower. Only on top of the toilet, which made it difficult to use dry. The elevator issue was also a negative point. Overall, we would go back because of the location.

Verified reviewLocation is amazing - staff were kind and stayed up late to let us in due to plane being delayed.
the lift takes a very long time to arrive - sometimes a 20 minute wait for others to use it first
