How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Beds are so uncomfortable and there are escalators which should be informed beforehand
Dear Tamy, Thanks choosing us as your home in HK. You booked one bed but asked for an extra single bed for free. Our photos and info are correct. Sorry you were unhappy, but we have to be fair to everyone. Waveflo Hostel

Verified reviewAll female and not too far from the station.
Hard to find. Only one bathroom and it was pretty dirty the whole time - floor was super wet, trash cans were full, and no soap by the sink. I’m used to sleeping on the floor so I was fine, but the mattress was so hard, so I think people would struggle with that. The owner was nice through messages, but there is no one on property.

Verified reviewLarge and stable wooden bunk beds. Small lockers for use free of charge. Located close to the MTR station Slept well (with earplugs of course) despite quite noisy surroundings
Common area ok clean; only one toilet/bathroom combination for the whole room of 10 (I believe) bunks

Verified reviewIt’s very strategic as it’s near to the metro station. And walking distance to Temple street. Cheap for a short stay.
I think there are some people staying there in long term, as the toilet already have limited space to hang our clothes, someone just put their clothes there all time. And someone else even left their wet panty hang there

Verified reviewGreat location, only a minute walk to the nearest metro station and Circle K. Quiet street, no load noises at night.
Mattress was very hard and uncomfortable, had trouble sleeping. Sometimes gets quite hot at night and A/C is very loud. Cleaner doesn’t come every day so it sometimes gets a little messy and bin was overflowing.

Verified reviewThe only thing good about the property was the excellent location. If it weren't for that fact I would have left this hostel and found a different place to stay for my time in Hong Kong.
This "hostel" is just a small 1 room apartment with 5 bunk beds crammed into it and one tiny bathroom. There are people living there (which is a thing in all of Hong Kong hostels) but there was nobody to enforce where there belongings were kept and even just two people had belongings spread out everywhere. The "Kitchenette" had no communal utensils or dish ware and was always full of dishes from the girls who lived there, and the fridge had barely any space inside and also contained food that had gone bad. The cleaners tried their best to keep the place tidy, but they only came once a day and with 10 people sharing one room and bathroom, the garbage filled up very quick and the toilet paper was always running out. Not to mention the beds, they were spacious enough that I could keep my backpack up on my bunk the whole time and still have room to sleep (there was no room anywhere else in the hostel to put it!!!!) but the wood creaked of you moved around at all and it could be quite noisy. And the mattress..... if you could even call it that. I thought the other reviews were exaggerating but it was without a doubt the most uncomfortable thing I have ever lied on and I have stayed in literally hundreds of hotels and hostels. I went out to ikea and bought a cheap duvet just to act as more cushion to sleep on. And because this is not a real hostel there was no towels or options to rent them, so I had to buy one of those too (thank god for the ikea nearby!) Lastly, I hope people read this review and take what I have said into account. I absolutely do not recommend staying here, especially because it was not even one of the cheaper hostel options in Hong Kong. But the location was good, so stay nearby if you can. Just not here!!!

Verified reviewIt's good for 1 or 2 nights. Close to the metro station. It's overall clean, specially the beds which is really important for me. It's cramped though, seems like some people are living there permanently so some random things are laying here and there, I wasn't sure if I could use them - for example I found the hair dryer was in the kitchen space on the chair so I didn't know if it was for everyone to use. There is just one bathroom (with toilet) for all guests so I think this is the biggest minus. Also, maybe it's booking.com fault but it says there is a living room with TV and game room and towels avaiable but this is not true. It's one space with all beds and the kitchen area at the end with a small balcony (nice one!). So I think based on that details provided by booking.com I was just expecting something else. The location is good and there are a lot of food options around! Overall good for this price but cramped so I wouldn't stay longer than 1-2 nights.

Verified reviewWe booked for 2 nights for 2 adults but we were given one double bed for two adults. According to the host it is a 1.2m bed that can fit two adults under 70kg which is extremely inconvenient not to mention there was no lift so we have to carry our luggages to the 2nd floor. These information should have been clarified from the beginning

Verified reviewThere is air conditioning so that's good for very humid HK. Check in is pretty straight forward. At least this one the address is what they say it is. Some stays in HK have separate floor or building for check in reception and rooms. The toilet and shower is decent and spacious for HK standards - at least they are separate.
THEY HAVE THE HARDEST BED YOU WILL EVER HAVE IN YOUR HOSTEL LIFE. The mattress is (no kidding) only a couple of centimeters thick. It feels no different from sleeping on the floor. Also, this is half hostel for budget travelers and the other half is a small apartment for long term young girls. If you are okay with sharing a room with girls who pretty much have established their lives there (like all their clothes hanging everywhere and all their tiny personal appliances in the kitchen), then I guess this is for you.

Verified reviewIt is not a hostel, it is a room with ten beds in and one bathroom. The beds are very hard but manageable. The kitchen is tiny and there was open food left out overnight. The bathroom is small and untidy.
