Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesHard to find. Only one bathroom and it was pretty dirty the whole time - floor was super wet, trash cans were full, and no soap by the sink. I’m used to sleeping on the floor so I was fine, but the mattress was so hard, so I think people would struggle with that. The owner was nice through messages, but there is no one on property.
All female and not too far from the station.

GermanyCommon area ok clean; only one toilet/bathroom combination for the whole room of 10 (I believe) bunks
Large and stable wooden bunk beds. Small lockers for use free of charge. Located close to the MTR station Slept well (with earplugs of course) despite quite noisy surroundings

MalaysiaI think there are some people staying there in long term, as the toilet already have limited space to hang our clothes, someone just put their clothes there all time. And someone else even left their wet panty hang there
It’s very strategic as it’s near to the metro station. And walking distance to Temple street. Cheap for a short stay.

United KingdomMattress was very hard and uncomfortable, had trouble sleeping. Sometimes gets quite hot at night and A/C is very loud. Cleaner doesn’t come every day so it sometimes gets a little messy and bin was overflowing.
Great location, only a minute walk to the nearest metro station and Circle K. Quiet street, no load noises at night.

PolandIt's good for 1 or 2 nights. Close to the metro station. It's overall clean, specially the beds which is really important for me. It's cramped though, seems like some people are living there permanently so some random things are laying here and there, I wasn't sure if I could use them - for example I found the hair dryer was in the kitchen space on the chair so I didn't know if it was for everyone to use. There is just one bathroom (with toilet) for all guests so I think this is the biggest minus. Also, maybe it's booking.com fault but it says there is a living room with TV and game room and towels avaiable but this is not true. It's one space with all beds and the kitchen area at the end with a small balcony (nice one!). So I think based on that details provided by booking.com I was just expecting something else. The location is good and there are a lot of food options around! Overall good for this price but cramped so I wouldn't stay longer than 1-2 nights.

PhilippinesWe booked for 2 nights for 2 adults but we were given one double bed for two adults. According to the host it is a 1.2m bed that can fit two adults under 70kg which is extremely inconvenient not to mention there was no lift so we have to carry our luggages to the 2nd floor. These information should have been clarified from the beginning

AustraliaIt’s an odd vibe, defs not a social hostel as half the guests were living there. It’s just one room with the beds, tiny tiny kitchen and bathroom. Beds are not very comfy. Thin and hard but as I said it’s cheap compared to other places and it does the job fine.
It’s cheap accomodation in Hong Kong , near a subway and shops, defs more of a residential area but there are some close night markets. Female only which is nice. Capsule style beds with a curtain. Felt safe as a solo female traveller. GREAT wifi also

SwitzerlandWe booked a „doublebed“ for two people. Sadly, the bed isn‘t really made for two people unless you are a couple and really tiny. The matress is also quite hard. The floor, especially in the bathroom, was very dirty and full of hair.
It is located very central and the metro station is nearby. We could deposit our luggage on the day of departure and the check-in/-out is very easy and possible at any time. The room has a small balcony and kitchen.

SerbiaCleanliness could have been better, as there was stains on the bedsheets I had, and the curtain on the bottom bunk would pick up dust from the floor which would then end up on the bed.
It was in a great location, and you get what you paid for. There is natural light and enough space for a hostel. It was pretty much exactly what I expected it to be like.

MalaysiaWater heater should be maintained or changed. Can burn your skin. Hot and cold water were opposite side. Basin next to toilet bowl very close distance cannot stand at basin to wash up but understandable because Hong Kong houses are limited space.
Price were reasonable. Locker facilities, socket and balcony to dry clothes was a plus point. Quite clean. Safe.

ItalyThe entrance to the hostel is kind of scary, however inside is all nice. The bed is not particularly comfortable, it is an asian style bed with a very thin mattress, so it feels like sleeping on the floor. Unfortunately there is only 1 bathroom, and it can get very messy. However, this is the costumer’s fault, and some of my roommates were pretty dirty. Again, not the hostel’s fault but 1 bathroom for 10 bed can be problematic. Also, it is not a proper hostel. It is a guesthouse, so no reception and no direct contact with the owner. The room however looks like a hostel room. Lastly, since there is no reception you need to pay either cash or with paypal. If you choose it, as I did, be ready to pay +10€ fees on paypal, which I wasn’t particularly happy about.
The price is very competitive for Hong Kong and to be honest it has everything you need: private bed with curtains, hair dryer, shampoo and body wash. It also has a mini kitchen. It is a female only place so it is cool, and the location is great. Literally 2 minutes walk from the metro station.
