How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Hi, sorry that we may not have met your expectation. We understand that travel experience mostly related to past experience and expectation, and if you might not have visited to hk before and did not do enough research to have the right expectation, then you probably could not have maximize your trip. We are just an affordable hostel, locating in the centre of everything, yet situated in the old historical building where many famous movies are filmed here, rooms are in reasonable size and with friendly staffs. Feel free to ask us more questions so we can help with what to expect too :)) Nevertheless, we thoroughly clean every rooms and change bed sheets after previous guest left. If you are highly sensitive or have high standard of cleanliness, we suggest you either book hotel or bring disposable linen set or you can buy at the reception $20/set.

Verified reviewThe location is excellent. Steps away to the MTR and bus stops, as well as restaurants and malls located in TST. We got a room with a window and everything was well prepared. We were given clean towels and the room was overall clean. Very affordable price for the location, and if you spend most of your days outdoors.
The lift to the Hop Inn can take a while at peak hours, so suggest allocating enough time beforehand in between activities.

However, rooms are renovated in recent years, so you can feel a strong different when stepping in the rooms.

I guess it is not for everyone ...
thank you for your time to review. Indeed, not all travelers are familiar with hk situation so here i would like to give some tips/ reminder to you: Due to HK its high land and rental price, the hotels and hostels are more expensive than most of the South East Asian areas, because of this, relatively cheaper accommodation like us are situated in old building in centre location, it’s not like all are modern and commercial building, but this is what’s interesting of a place too, have its old and new faces, have its own story. Like our building, it was once the tallest and most expensive building in TST in the 1960s.

Verified reviewGreat location. Situated in Tsim Sha Tsui with easy access to Victoria Bay and other attractions. A bit far from Lantau Island but subway stations are accessible.
Incredibly difficult to find the location. No signs whatsoever to indicate. For anyone going there, go through the entrance of the Mirador Mansion, turn right, and ride the leftmost lift to the 13th floor. The room was also cramped, the lock to the bathroom was on the outside, for some reason. The toilet, sink and shower are also in the same cubicle, so you end up getting everything soaked. Furthermore, a stranger managed to open our door and enter without the room card somehow... Not unstayable, but don't expect anything great.
We sincerely apologize for the confusion and concern caused when a stranger entered your room. Upon reviewing the situation, it is possible that it was one of our room attendants who entered to clean the room. We understand how unsettling this must have been, and we deeply regret any distress it caused. To prevent such incidents in the future, we will reinforce our protocols to ensure that our staff clearly communicate their presence and intentions before entering any room. We also apologize for the challenges you faced in finding our location. For future reference, our reception is located on the 13th floor of Mirador Mansion, 58 Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui. Upon entering the building, guests should turn right and take the leftmost lift to the 13th floor. We are actively working on improving our signage and directions to make the arrival process smoother. Regarding the room layout and bathroom design, we understand that the setup was not ideal and caused inconvenience during your stay. Your feedback is invaluable, and we will take it into consideration as we continue to refine our accommodations.

The room we got is not like the pictures. The room is small, beds were okay, but the bathroom was very old. There is no separate space for showering.
As a budget accommodation in Hong Kong, we strive to provide comfortable and affordable stays, but we understand that the room size and bathroom setup may not meet everyone’s preferences. In Hong Kong, due to space constraints, many accommodations, including local residences, often have compact layouts and combined bathroom facilities without separate shower spaces. This is a common feature in the city, and we regret if this was not communicated clearly beforehand. Regarding the building’s appearance, we acknowledge that Mirador Mansion is an older building with a unique character, which may not appeal to everyone. However, its central location in Tsim Sha Tsui offers great convenience for exploring the city.

Another hotel on Nathan Rd. which is dirty and do not meet standards of a hotel.
Please understand that as a budget hostel *not a hotel*, it’s not fair to compare us to hotels, especially given our low prices. Our guests choose us for our affordability, and we have our own costs and budgets to manage as well. While our rooms may not be very large and are located on different floors, and we don’t have 24-hour front desk service, we offer a variety of room types to cater to different needs. Guests have the option to upgrade their rooms if they are not fully satisfied. Additionally, we have a professional receptionist and a lounge area to assist guests, which is often not available in hotels. We are committed to addressing our guests' needs and continually strive to improve our facilities. We are currently redecorating some rooms to better meet your expectations. Thank you for your understanding and support as we work to enhance your experience with us.

Verified reviewGreat location, right next to 2 different metro line stations, Kowloon park is nearby, Nice view. Good water pressure for the shower, staff were friendly. Let us store our luggage in a locked room (with others luggage) on the day we checked out.
Noisy because someone was doing renovations above us in the same building for a couple of days. Tiny tiny room but as expected in Hong Kong and for this price. Elevators could take a bit long and were a bit old. Shower was on top of the toilet so everything got wet.
"Dear Valued Guest, Thank you for your feedback. We sincerely apologize for not providing you with an ideal stay experience. The unique feature of guesthouses in Hong Kong is that rooms are partitioned within a unit. As a result, the soundproofing may be slightly less effective compared to hotels. Additionally, as we are located in the heart of Tsim Sha Tsui, the surrounding streets remain busy with both pedestrian and vehicle traffic even at night, which may cause some noise. If you prefer a quieter environment, we recommend choosing a windowless room, as these tend to be much quieter. Thank you for your understanding. We will continue to strive to improve our service quality and look forward to the opportunity to provide you with a more satisfactory stay in the future!"
