Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

TaiwanWish breakfast was available
There is free tea & coffee provided, however no breakfast on site. It’s at a fantastic location near Victoria harbor, it’s right next to the train station & had a lot of restaurants, bakeries, bars, major malls etc.

TaiwanThe bed is made of metal, so it creaks and makes noise whenever someone moves, even just a bit.
The public area has a cozy vibe with an indie and vintage design, easy and natural to chat with people. The room’s simple, but it’s got all the basics. In a city like Hong Kong, can't ask for more at this price.

The Hop Inn lives up to its name as a hospitable stop for travelers to Hong Kong. The facilities are excellent, and the Vibe is always nice, the 2 bunk bedroom a treat if available.

United KingdomThe beds were private, but they were so squeaky! Even worse were the noisy doors, which will wake you up every time, guaranteed. The working space isn't very comfortable, and the plugs don't reach the tables. There was only one cup available! Everyone had to wait for the one cup to be made so they could have their coffee! How difficult is it to buy more cups?? It was surprisingly expensive for what you get.
The location is perfect, right in a vibey part of town. I loved walking around here. Unlike most hostels, the rooms were not crammed with as many beds as possible. The showers were glorious, another rarity in hostel life. The lockers under the bed had ample space. Free coffee! Most of all, you can see they are trying to put together a decent hostel here. The effort was noticed and appreciated.

SwedenIn the photo of the kitchen there was a small oven, but when I was there there was only a microwave. I have a lot of food allergies so I rely on being able to cook some lighter meals so I specifically chose this hostel because they had an oven in the pictures, so I was disappointed that there was only a microwave upon arrival.
Clean and well taken care of facilities. The location was great, close to the metro and the staff was friendly. The other guests were also friendly and polite and created a quiet room to sleep well.

SpainI think they need to explain in the hostel description/by direct message when you book how to get to the hostel better. The building has two entrances and 4 elevators, so it takes a while until you get it right. It is elevator 1 L5 for anyone who is a lost as I was. The sheets are clean, but the room has very dusty areas (like the metal cages underneath the beds to put your suitcase) and the bathroom, specifically the shower, was clearly not cleaned very often, as the shower hose had suspicious things hanging of it for several days that I was there. The common room is equally dusty, specially the tablecloths. They have a late fee check in after 11pm, which is fine since they warned me from the moment I booked, but something to take into consideration if your flight in is arriving late.
Location is great, it is next to the Victoria Pier and well communicated to go to either Disneyland or Lantau Island. The female dormitory has its own shower and bathroom within the room and the common area is nice. Also lights can be completely turned off within the room, which is not something you see in every dorm-like hostel. Staff was nice and helpful whenever I had a question or an issue.

NetherlandsIn order to shower you need to switch on the hot water. Takes a few minutes before you can use it. The downside of this; really hot water came dripping from a pipe in the bathroom, which stopped after you switched on the shower. Found that a little dangerous.
Close to Nathan road and the avenue of stars. Star ferry is also a short walk away. Metro station is across the road, bus to the airport stops close by too. For the location the price is great. Staff is friendly. Room is spacious and functional. There is a communal space you can use too.

FinlandVery uncomfy dark showers. The female dorm room was so tiny I wish there was less unnecessary furniture (huge armchair with a separate footstool, big table and chairs) to have some space to move around between all lockers and extra luggage!
