How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The room was a bit stuffy but exactly what I expected for the price.
The location right by the promenade and the exceptional price are unbeatable. Combined with the corteous and pleasant staff this stay has been great!

The room is small but it still fit us.

Not recommended for people over 5'9, as the beds are quite short. Long queues for the elevators at night.

The noise insulation is poor so you can sleep without earplugs. The curtains were very stinky and because of how small the room is they often come right on your face.
The staff is friendly, the location is quite good and for Hongkong it's decent value for money even though the rooms are really small.

I like the location. It is very closed to Tsim Sha Tsui MTR station and lots of restaurants nearby.

Very friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are small but clean and sit well for a modest budget staying in a good location. Staff were very accommodating with special needs for my wife who was on crutches, including a late check-out.

It's a total scam. Classic bait and switch!! Do NOT listen to the other positive reviews. They are fake reviews. The description and pictures are completely fake and false. They will tell you that these lies are not their fault. They told me that Booking.com made the mistake of these false pictures and description. The rooms are absolutely disgusting. The shower pressure is non-existent. The toilet doesn't flush sometimes. The elevator isn't just slow. It doesn't work properly and is always crowded. You can see this problem from other reviewers. The whole building is just full of scammers and hustlers trying to sell you things. Solo females should definitely avoid this place. David Lounge doesn't actually exist. They try to fool you by using different names. They will make you pay extra tax fee when you check-in and make you pay a 100 hong kong dollars in cash. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!

I wouldn’t recommend this for a solo traveller especially as a female, the location itself is great but the location is dodgy, walking into a money laundering centre full of Indians trying to sell you drugs women food and rooms. Was really hard to find the hotel itself and you can be waiting 20 mins at times to get up into the lift. The rooms are cleaned daily and the beds are comfy, charging outlets hit or miss if they work and water pressure is pathetic as of the WiFi, you get what you pay for. The staff are okay, not very specific with there recommendations or advice and the lady took my phone to leave a 10/10 review of my behalf. A lot a lot of complaints were to be had by other travellers here in my stay, overall it was fine if your travelling and don’t mind abit of chaos. But a very low fine

Could have provided a better blanket to the rooms rather than just a sheet.
Small but mighty place, amazing price for Hong Kong and totally comfortable. Yes, there was a short wait for the elevators sometimes… but this is HK! It was no big deal and what we expected for such a busy city.

First of all, the David Lounge does not exist. There are several hotels under one ownership, and you'll be assigned a random room. When we arrived (after check-in time), they told us our room wasn't ready, and then sent us to a different hotel with no private bathroom and a smaller room. The building is old, has has 16 or 17 floors, and the elevator is small and very slow. You may spend hours in the elevator queue in the evening. If you take the stairs, be prepared for a dreadful experience - unsanitary conditions and a bad smell. And DON'T BOOK HOTELS WITH SAME ADDRESS AS DAVID LOUNGE. They are all the same, maybe - worse.
