Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesCommunication was a little tricky, since sometimes you’re communicate with someone managing the apartment remotely, and sometimes you need to call someone on-site to help. So that got confusing at times, and check-in itself was definitely trickier than other places we’ve stayed.
The location was amazing, and the apartment was very clean. You cannot beat the view! The hotel amenities were great, too.

United StatesThe apartment is spacious and perfectly located with an amazing view and great amenities. We spent time around the pool and the jacuzzi and called the water taxi to visit San Juan via boat and got picked up off their doc.

United StatesThe only thing we did not like was that it was a bit far from the town, you do need to call a Tuc Tuc to take you to town. The host will give you a list of people you can call though. They charge Q10.00 each way per person which is a little over $1.00 but....the traffic can be pretty noisy in Pana, so the Tuc Tuc ride was not a problem when you consider no noise pollution. The only thing that could be better in the hotel room itself is the beds, not comfortable at all. the most comfortable was the couch in the living room. I am not as particular when it comes to beds, but these beds were really hard so if you have back problems its something to consider.
We loved the hotel room, we had a 2 bedroom suite that was fully loaded with everything you would need if you wanted to cook. It also came with a bag of Ducal Beans and fresh eggs and french bread we could use for our breakfast. There was also coffee and sugar. The View is BREATHTAKING!! The property has a restaurant on site, there are also a lot of board game s that you can use downstairs like ping pong, foosball table, chess, connect four etc.. We loved coming down to the dock for sunrise and sunset, some people also would swim in the lake...we didn't because our understanding is not all areas of lake are clean for swimming. We also enjoyed relaxing in the pool and Jacuzzi. The weather in Panajachel is nice and cool not hot like some areas in Guatemala.

United StatesThe beds could've been more comfortable, but we made the best of a beautiful few days.
The location is beautiful, just as seen in the pictures! We loved the lake views, swimming in the pool, the lake and the jacuzzi. It was a really nice bonus that the host had left an inflatable kayak and life vests to use at the beach as well when the water was calm. The game room in the hotel was also a great spot to relax with the family and have fun.

United StatesThe bed linens were old, and so the fitted sheets did not stay on the mattresses at night. It would have been good to have more bath and kitchen towels. It would have been helpful to know that "Paradise of Atitlan" is just the name given by the owner of one privately owned apartment, located within an apartment/hotel complex. So, when it says that breakfast is included, that does not mean breakfast down at the restaurant; the owners provided foods that could be prepared for breakfast in the apartment.
The view is beautiful, and it was really nice to have the living area and kitchenette. It was great to sit out on the balcony to take in the view in the mornings and evenings, and besides the occasional barking of neighborhood dogs, it was a quiet and restful place. The restaurant in the hotel complex had excellent food. All in all, it was a wonderful stay! We would stay there again.

GuatemalaSmall detail: the pool had weekly maintenance on Thursdays which we weren't made aware of and it was unavailable that day. Didn't ruin our stay but was a little disappointing we didn't know sooner.
The apartment was very clean and well equipped, everything we needed was there. The facilites were fantastic. Host was very helpful and responded to our request well. Close enough to Panajachel to get to easily but not in the middle of everything. Perfect both for people who want to go and do tourist things or those who want to relax in a jacuzzi.

United StatesThe breakfast was a bad joke, 6 eggs, 1/2 pound of beans and some breads, was ridiculous for 8 persons (we were 12, but they said the breakfast was just for 8)
The view of the place was great and cleanliness was good too.

United StatesThe beds were hard and uncomfortable. The included breakfast was a bowl of raw eggs, a bag of bread, a jug of juice and a squeeze pouch of refried beans. The listing made this seem like a hotel, but this is a condo offered by a private party. It required payment by Zelle or other means outside of Booking.Com which didn't feel great. I was never provided with notification for the final payment OR how to access the room upon arrival, so when I arrived (late due to plane delays), it was a struggle to get into the room. Wi-Fi was good, but the password wasn't posted so I couldn't access it until the next day when someone came by to collect cash for the final payment (again, unexpected and uncomfortable).
This is a great location for a larger group that wants to stay someplace with a pool and other amenities on-site. There was plenty of space and the grounds were beautifully landscaped.
