The restaurant was overpriced and charged incorrect amounts compared to the menu. Despite a sign stating tips were not automatically added, I was charged without my consent. Activity prices were also unreasonably high.

The private rooms were spacious, comfortable, and very enjoyable. The upgraded room was a pleasant surprise. The dorm bathroom was large but lacked hand soap and towels. Location-wise, the town is charming but more suited for a short, one-night stay before moving on. Wi-Fi was excellent, and the front desk and cleaning crew were friendly and helpful.

The children's playground is not for small children : there is a biljart table, mini footbal, pingpong table and some games.

The service and the staff were very friendly. The location is very central. The food at the restaurant wss excellent: fresh and tasty! Room are big but no tv. We.will for sure come back to this place!

Maybe a few more lounge chairs around the pool would have been nice. Also there is only 1 toilet in the hostel which is a bit annoying when the bathroom in the dorm is occupied.

We were told by staff that the drainage system wasnt working properly in the city, so we had yellow / brown looking water coming out of the sink during our stay :(

We loved the location of the hotel. It was an easy walk to the malecon. The room was very very spacious , clean and nicely decorated. We had a mini fridge in the room. The hotel offers activities/ classes, which was a great opportunity to learn about Guatemalan culture and meet new people. They have so much to offer, and Balter the social coordinator is amazing!!

The only thing was that it felt a little like a resort - I think some travellers might feel that it's not "an authentic experience"- but honestly, I loved this place. Total convenience and relaxation.

Great location a short walk from the pier on the lake. It feels like a resort, but for the price of a hostel! I wanted to get out to see the lake and the town, but I had to drag myself away from the poolside - I'd been travelling for 9 months at this point, and was so happy to just chill out, and Socialtel was the perfect place to do it! Good breakfast and transfer service, and comfortable, private rooms - clean bathrooms and privacy curtains on the beds.

It was very noice due to the constructions outside of the hotel area. You couldn’t sleep without earbuds. The pool water is not clean, definitely Nobody can swim there.

Overall everything was great. Location was excellent. It’s more like a hostel. This is ok as long as you are aware of this.The restaurant was great , very tasty breakfast! The room was very big but there is not much natural light.

Sadly I was bitten by ants overnight (noticed a few in the morning on the bed) and the floor wasn't swept properly. I don't mind this but considering the price I wouldn't have expected this to be a problem (I paid almost Q1000 for one night in a cabin)

I was booked into the ground floor which had a view of construction and a wall which meant I couldn't open the curtains. The suites are nearest to the main road so it was loud. There was no prober AC, only an air cooler which was too small to cool the huge room. The food in the restaurant was expensive and not decorated very nicely. The tours from the hostel were very expensive so better to book at outside agencies.

The location was good as it was close to the boats that take you to the villages. I booked the suite plus which was huge and beautifully decorated and had a well stocked fridge. It cost US135 per night which I felt was expensive for a hostel. I was put on the bottom floor the first night which I was very disappointed in because of the the brick wall view when you open the curtains. I was able to move to the second floor suite the second night and it had a view of the volcano and lake from the distance. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
