Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNoisy at night.
Good place. Breakfast is excellent, although they dont start till 8am which is a little late. Also they could have more than one coffee included for breakfast -but tight. Can be noisy around the pool if your room there.

New ZealandAs others have mentioned, some of the rooms are situated near the bar area, so it can be very loud. We had a room right outside the pool and even though the windows are mirrored, it doesn’t feel private with everyone staring/posing into the mirrored windows. Maybe we are just the wrong type of guests 😅
Nice beds, rooms are a great size, the pool and bar area is lovely to sit at, especially with the lake view. Really well kept premise, the gardens are lovely. The showers has warm water (once you figured out the shower system) Only a convenient 5 min walk to San Pedro centre. Theres no AC but the fan did its job.

United StatesA little noisy but that’s because we picked a poolside room and the music was very loud and the room isn’t very insulated so we could hear a lot of noise. Also, upon walking the grounds we took a stroll on the bridges and my husband hit his head on the bridge canopy which was a sharp piece of wood. Lastly on our last day, a large group came for a day pass and it was a little overwhelming to have such a large crowd with adults and kids in the pool and on the grounds. Kind of took away from our relaxation, getaway, and time at the pool.
The location, staff, room, and pool were beautiful. I greatly enjoyed my massage and would highly recommend. The front office staff was very helpful and attentive

United StatesAt night, it was surprisingly loud—not from guests enjoying themselves, but from workers outside, which made it hard to relax. The overall atmosphere leaned more toward a backpacker or younger party crowd.
Sababa Resort is in an amazing location—right on the lake and close to everything in San Pedro. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, and overall the place has a lot of potential. That said, it didn’t quite live up to how it looked online.

United StatesThe hotel is nice. There are some improvements that could be make to make it more enjoyable so we might consider staying again. We stayed in definitely what would be advertised as their best private room however it has some improvements it needs. The tub in the room has no drainage at the sides where the tile is so when you shower it spills over into the sides and just leaves still water around the edges of the tub. The room was very nice though and with a tv with Netflix, and direct access to the pool which was great. We were close to the bar and restaurant. The free breakfast included in the stay was underwhelming compared to other places we stayed at in Guatemala. The restaurant was good but if you want a more authentic experience go eat on the street somewhere. You’ll find plenty of options along the strip. The location of the hotel itself is perfect close proximity to the Main Street where everything is located in San Pedro. One block over there are many stores and street vendors and restaurants and bars. We felt safe walking around as two woman at night. We went out sometimes multiple times in the night for a shuco. Also a 10 minute walk from los thermales our second favorite spot in town. For the price of the room, what’s included, and location its a good hotel. We think we will likely stay somewhere else next time where in town though and if we want to use the pool we’ll get a day pass. We’ll see how they’re looking next time where back around Guatemala Sababa may see us again as overnight guests you never know!

United StatesIt is pretty easy to hear everything that's happening outside of your door. We got unlucky and had some girls celebrating a bachelorette party one night so it was fairly loud when we were trying to sleep, but we used sound machine apps on our phone to help drown them out. If you're super sensitive to sound, this might not be the best place for you, as there is pretty constant music playing!
The location was phenomenal and the staff was so friendly. The rooms were spacious and clean and the beds were comfy. The breakfast was also great.

United KingdomFor the price, the facilities need a lot of updating. Taps nearly coming out of the sinks, missing door handles, loose hooks, stained ground etc. All perfectly fixable and didn’t diminish the stay but it’s the little things.

CanadaThe room was only cleaned once during the entire 5 days we were there (and only because I asked 3 times for it to be done) which is unacceptable when paying this much for accommodation. Making up the room daily should be a given. I even had to go and ask for toilet paper twice. The music is very loud - they do turn off the music out by the pool at 10 pm in the evening but the place next door does not and sometimes went quite late. If you’re a reasonably early sleeper, you will absolutely need ear plugs (I wore them every night). The bathroom in our room was in need of some upkeep - the bathtub had a large crack down the middle and it felt like you were going to fall through it as it had no support underneath.
Beautiful grounds, friendly staff, excellent breakfast every day which is included in the price as well as a complementary bottle of champagne.
