How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe zipline experience is amazing and the walk to the beach is worth every step.
The towels had a humidity odor that was a little bit unconfortable.

Verified reviewI loved the rustic feel and bright colors. It was very eco-friendly, which I love. The ziplining was awesome. We really enjoyed the hiking, hanging bridges, butterfly dome, monkeys and waterfalls. Beautiful property all around.
A couple of crickets and a wasp wanted to join the party. But we got them out.

Verified reviewAll the natural plants around the property. Also the fun things to do and see with the family like the monkeys, swinging bridges, zip line, bike cables, oh and the children's playground was awesome!
Nothing!

Verified reviewThe location is on a mini 'nature reserve,' which was nice for walking around, there are some trails with lovely views. The room was clean, had a large and pretty balcony, the staff were very friendly and helpful, and the room came with breakfast, which was also good. Even though it is a bit away from the main town, it is easy to get to / from Panajachel via uber or tuctuc.

Verified reviewSurrounded by nature yet close to Panajachel
Focus was on day visitors . Restaurant closed at 5 pm . Alternatives were: tuk tuk to Panajachel town : walk ( 20 mins) : dinner at close by Hotel Atitlan or another restaurant maybe 10 minute walk . Service was slow , often no member of staff around . Not particularly engaging staff . Expensive stay

Verified reviewA handful of lodging rooms are available tucked away inside this natural reserve. You will feel like you are staying in the treetops. The rooms are clean and spacious. However, know that the walls are thin and we could hear full conversations next door. They seemed a little short staffed but the people were kind and helpful. Be sure to take advantage of all the offerings on the property including the trails, the wildlife, and the butterfly sanctuary!
If you have mobility challenges, this property is probably less than ideal. Everything is on the hill up and down with uneven ground.

Verified reviewBeautiful rooms, in a natural setting. Very peaceful we had the whole place to ourselves in the evening when the park was closed, just us and the animals. Lovely breakfast. We enjoyed the walks and being able to escape into nature from the hustle and bustle of the town. 20 minutes walk into the town or quick ride in a tut tut and a couple of nice restaurants in the hotels nearby too if you didn't want to venture too far. Its not a hotel so service is limited and you need a bit of Spanish or Google translate helps. Didn't bother us and we loved staying here.
Nothing

A shame the onsite restaurant isn't open in the evening.

Verified reviewVery friendly staff.
The booking description was misleading as it stated room would have one queen bed and one twin bed. It did not mention the twin bed was a wooden bed (that was actually smaller than a twin bed) which hung from the wall. The description of the room should have been more clear.

Verified reviewThe room was spacious and beautiful, We loved walking around the whole reserve at all hours. The staff tried hard to make sure our stay was comfortable.
Although there was usually a tuktuk around to take us into town, sometimes there was none available, and with the hotel being a bit far from main part of town, we had to get creative with trying to find a ride.

Verified reviewIt’s gorgeous! Like a little jungle getaway. You have access to the trails and waterfalls at night. Great breakfast with vegan options included in the morning, and the dining area is beneath blooming vines. Very tropical jungle glamping vibe. Butterfly dome is AMAZING!!!
Not a dislike, just an observation, but the park is less like a national park and more like a theme park. Pretty standard for Central America but it is geared towards tourism. Hikes aren’t strenuous, monkeys are behind electric barriers. The lake part is pretty manicured. The coatis come out at feeding time. But, it is quite beautiful and very fun to walk around and explore.

Verified reviewThe location was absolutely amazing. It really is in the middle of a natural reservation, you could take several little trails from your room through hanging bridges to see waterfalls and lake Atitlán... They also had a butterfly garden and raccoons and monkeys and there's a zipline option. The balcony was amazing and getting to hear the jungle sounds at night was incredible. The staff was really nice, the room was clean, the bed was huge, the size of the room was good too. The breakfast was delicious.
There was very little space to put our stuff, we could really use a wardrobe. The restaurant served good food, but the closing time at 5 p.m. was pretty inconvenient, especially as there aren't many other options nearby. And twice we came around 4:20-30 and they told us we can get beverages only... Also the isolation was quite poor and we were getting ants, mosquitoes and flies in our room. A mosquito net could have been useful, got bitten in our room plenty of times...
