Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BarbadosThe listing didnt misrepresent but i would have liked to have access to a coffee maker or hot water in the room for tea. The local hot chocolate from the on-site restaurant was top tier, but the burger and club sandwich were not to our liking.
This location was a great midway stop between Guata and Semuc Champey. The cabins are rustic and are set in a mystic and stunningly beautiful natural environment and the access to short hike and waterfall was the highlight of my stay. It was very cold in July (I'm from the Caribbean lol) but cozy n comfortable.

GuatemalaDetails in the rooms could use a little makeover, like new curtains for example. The staff at the restaurant was terrible. The service and communication skills were so bad I swear they had to be on drugs or have a serious disability.
Beautiful place. The hiking trails are 100%. Hiking to the waterfall and swimming there are a must. The cabin with a chimney also great. Food in the restaurant was very good.

United KingdomIt was really cold when we were there and the heater in the room wasn't very effective. If the weather had been better we would have enjoyed sitting outside by the pool.
It was a great location for visiting the Biotopo del Quetzales. The room was very clean and a good size. The staff were very nice and friendly. The food was good.

SwitzerlandRooms are HUMID, like very humid, it wasn’t so pleasant to have humid beddings and that our things could not dry (from sweaty hikes) and some even got humid. Didn’t seem to be a problem for the hosts. The rest was all good
Large property to walk around, trail to a waterfall, lots of birds in the morning, good restaurant with good price, close to the Biotopo del Quetzal, rooms well furnished with private bathroom

United KingdomWhen checking in, make sure they book you in to the correct accommodation. It was dealt with well, but initially, we were being booked into a room. The bungalow could do with hot water making facilities - coffee maker or kettle. The 3-piece in the living room needs comfy seat backs. They are NOT comfortable to lounge in. The candle bulbs in the living room are useless. You'd get more light from a match. The alternative is the glaring overhead bulb which is not nice. WiFi is only available in the restaurant. We knew this before, but what would be nice is a lounge area with comfy seats too enjoy the WiFi. The restaurant gets very busy, so not appropriate to 'block' a table. The pool hasn't been cleaned in a while but with the cooler temperatures, we didn't feel a need to swim.
The location is perfect. Nice for walks to the jungle and enjoy the natural world. The mountain location provided a great respite from the heat of the lower elevations. It almost felt normal to us. Who would've thought we would be having a fire, and whilst not entirely necessary, it was really comforting to enjoy the heat and ambience. Room was quiet, clean and comfortable. Restaurant serves great food throughout the day.

United StatesThe floors weren’t clean. The beds need new bedding and some painting and decor would really dress it up.
Beautiful location. Great walk to the water fall. Grounds are lovely. We enjoyed having a fire in the evening. Food was good.

CanadaThe bed was not very comfortable, and the room was a bit dingy.
Location, 5 minutes from the Biotopo de Quetzal, the facilities were beautiful, with a nice pool, places to sit outside, bonus waterfall trail! The restaurant was also great and reasonably priced, they had local coffee, chocolate, spices, candies, etc. You could buy there as well. Would highly recommend and go back.

GermanyUnfortunately, the bungalow complex is run-down, house interior is very musty the provided wood stored in the living room was still damp / moldy. Pool area not usable because it is not cleaned. The bungalow complex unfortunately has the best times behind it.
Very nice location in the forest, fresh air and in the middle of nature. Breakfast was ok.

New ZealandThey did not have much information about the park and did not know that you can see quetzals (even during this time of the year) at the hotel down the road (ranchitos del quetzal). Would be good if they are a bit more knowledgable about this. The bed was quite hard
Huge room with a little heater to keep the room a little warmer. Also nice hot shower with soap, shampoo and condicioner dispenser. New towels every day and cleaning which we didn't need though. Super nice and green surroundings. The restaurant is good, big portions for reasonable prices.

United KingdomThe room was freezing. There is no hot water and no wifi. There is no soundproofing - when the people next door talked or coughed or went to the bathroom, it was like they were in our room. We had to wait like an hour for food in the restaurant.
It looks better than it is. The location is fine but the room was freezing and uncomfortable

United KingdomThe first bungalow we were given was infested with biting ants, got both our feet. The staff moved us to another (2 bedroom) bungalow, thankfully bug free. The beds are hard and uncomfortable, same with the seating. Wifi only available in the restaurant or the games room - again nowhere comfortable to sit. The restaurant meals weren't to our taste, we had dinner (tough meat with rice and cold cauliflower) and breakfast. Neither meal was pleasant. It's a place that has taken a rustic vibe too far, the bungalows are more like outbuildings.
Beautiful grounds. We could park our vehicle next to the bungalow. The bathroom was clean.

GuatemalaI chose this hotel because of amazing memories I made with my family when I was a kid. I had to get up early and be on my way the next day, so I thought of if as the perfect spot, nice and quiet, to rest and be on my way at dawn. What ruined my stay were noisy guests arriving at midnight and making noise, pulling beds, talking loudly and hearing music. So I didn't find peace and quietness, but totally the opposite.
The property is fine. Amazing location in the middle of the rainforest. It feels safe and relaxing, and the staff is kind.
