The rooftop overlooking the lake was amazing, it is located and quiet zone, but nevertheless close to everything.

Location by the water was nice

I didn’t realise how far away from the city this place was. I wish I booked somewhere closer

    Property response:

We are located 10 minutes walk from the touristic center or the town center. Most of our guest really enjoy that we are not in the busy and noisy part of town.

The views from communal areas where amazing. Quiet, beautiful gardens. Moved us when we told them about a smelly bathroom. However in hindsight we could have kept plugs in to decrease smell. Loved being able to walk up to restaurant.

Couldn’t open our window as our room was on the building, sewerage area. Most likely could have paid to upgrade room to avoid that.

Too many cats around the hotel

    Property response:

Ha ha. We love our cats. We love guests that love cats. Some guests come to our hotel because of the reviews that say we have cats. For some strange reason, some people don't like cats. They might pick another hotel, it's ok with us.

The best views of the lake in San Pedro. Very good value for money. Cute cats all around the property.

Rooms were a little tired but given the cost of the hotel it’s not a moan.

Love the incredible view, the colonial structure, the quietness.

The bathroom needs some " cariñito " as we said in Spanish. It wasn't 100% clean.

Amazing views. Friendly and helpful owner.

The room was hot even with the fan, but I slept fine anyway.

I loved the hotel and its location: within walking distance of the center yet away from the noise and bustle of the tuk-tuks, nestled in lush, almost jungle-like vegetation right by the lake, surrounded by splendid, colorful, and welcoming restaurants. The affectionate cats and the warm, incredibly kind staff added to the charm. The shared kitchen and fridge were a fantastic idea for a light meal with a cold beer.

The only downside? Amid so much tranquility, some murals filled with blood and violence felt jarring, promoting a rather biased and questionable version of history. In Guatemala, 43% of the population remains purely indigenous, while in a very similar country (Belize), it’s just 17%. In the U.S., 2%. In Mexico, 45%. In Haiti, 0%. In the Dominican Republic, 4%. Not all colonizations were the same

Great value for the price you pay. Wonderful staff. Located right on the lake, tranquil corner with beautiful views. Nice terrace with outdoor seating with absolutely unobstructed views of the lake. Comfortable room for a family of 4. Hot water. Easy to get to by foot, boat, or tuk tuk.

    Nice views of the lake

The bed was very uncomfortable and the room was covered in bugs. Spiders, moths, beetles, and all kinds of bugs all over the walls. The bathroom would not dry at all after a shower.

The cats ! We felt a little weird about the walk to go there ( only because we were tired after Acatenango ) but we were pleasantly surprised once we got there. The location was great and I love how the reception is practically outside, surrounded by beautiful plants. Oh and I mention the cats ? Everything was great and the staff was exceptional.

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Mikaso for the serene and quiet neighborhood! It’s about a 15 minute walk from the main area of town. It has an amazing terrace with beautiful views of the lake! The hotel cats will greet and cuddle with you when you come and go. Staff is very approachable and helpful.

The rooms are a bit simple

I liked that I could rent kayaks there and that I could re fill my water. It was also nice to have a view of the lake from many places on site, and great to have a kitchen to use.

I didn’t find the staff that welcoming and they didn’t explain where anything was, eg the kitchen or how to rent kayaks - I just remembered these things from the booking and asked about them. Though i slept fine I didn’t find the mattress that comfy, and the shower did not get warm at all.
