Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaCouldn’t open our window as our room was on the building, sewerage area. Most likely could have paid to upgrade room to avoid that.
The views from communal areas where amazing. Quiet, beautiful gardens. Moved us when we told them about a smelly bathroom. However in hindsight we could have kept plugs in to decrease smell. Loved being able to walk up to restaurant.

The best views of the lake in San Pedro. Very good value for money. Cute cats all around the property.

Puerto RicoThe bathroom needs some " cariñito " as we said in Spanish. It wasn't 100% clean.

SpainThe only downside? Amid so much tranquility, some murals filled with blood and violence felt jarring, promoting a rather biased and questionable version of history. In Guatemala, 43% of the population remains purely indigenous, while in a very similar country (Belize), it’s just 17%. In the U.S., 2%. In Mexico, 45%. In Haiti, 0%. In the Dominican Republic, 4%. Not all colonizations were the same
I loved the hotel and its location: within walking distance of the center yet away from the noise and bustle of the tuk-tuks, nestled in lush, almost jungle-like vegetation right by the lake, surrounded by splendid, colorful, and welcoming restaurants. The affectionate cats and the warm, incredibly kind staff added to the charm. The shared kitchen and fridge were a fantastic idea for a light meal with a cold beer.

Great value for the price you pay. Wonderful staff. Located right on the lake, tranquil corner with beautiful views. Nice terrace with outdoor seating with absolutely unobstructed views of the lake. Comfortable room for a family of 4. Hot water. Easy to get to by foot, boat, or tuk tuk.

United StatesThe cats ! We felt a little weird about the walk to go there ( only because we were tired after Acatenango ) but we were pleasantly surprised once we got there. The location was great and I love how the reception is practically outside, surrounded by beautiful plants. Oh and I mention the cats ? Everything was great and the staff was exceptional.

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Mikaso for the serene and quiet neighborhood! It’s about a 15 minute walk from the main area of town. It has an amazing terrace with beautiful views of the lake! The hotel cats will greet and cuddle with you when you come and go. Staff is very approachable and helpful.

United KingdomI didn’t find the staff that welcoming and they didn’t explain where anything was, eg the kitchen or how to rent kayaks - I just remembered these things from the booking and asked about them. Though i slept fine I didn’t find the mattress that comfy, and the shower did not get warm at all.
I liked that I could rent kayaks there and that I could re fill my water. It was also nice to have a view of the lake from many places on site, and great to have a kitchen to use.

United KingdomWe loved this place as soon as we arrived. Although we didn’t have a lake view room, there was a rooftop common area for everyone to use. So we watched the sunrise every morning from here. The rooms we the perfect size, hot water in the shower and a fully equipped kitchen for cooking and storing anything in the fridge you need to. The staff are lovely and it’s just a really relaxing place to be. They hire kayaks out for Q20 and each day you can avail of a buy 1 get 1 free beer in the restaurant on the top floor. Their food is really good too! It’s a about a 10 minute walk from the Main Street but that means it’s lovely and quiet at night. We would 100% stay here again.

MexicoThe room was quite hot. I wanted to turn on the AC but there was none, and had to use a small fan they had there. I had to open the window to get some cooler air into the room, but of course that meant that in the morning the outside noise got into the room :(
Very good value in general. It’s a beautiful place with very friendly staff. The rooftop is great for chilling. The shower is hot, the bed comfy, the gardens are very well maintained. The staff is friendly (people in Guatemala generally are).

United StatesAs noted in the description- this is in the middle of the town and you will get quite a bit of noise all night (dogs barking, motorcycles, music playing). So be prepared that it's not the quietest since you are in the central location.
Great value, clean rooms and extremely friendly and helpful staff! This was a nice, clean, quiet hostel (not a "party hostel" vibe-- just chill, friendly guests cooking their breakfasts in the shared kitchen). This hostel is not beachfront, it is several blocks from restaurants and the beach but nice to walk through the cute little city. Some lovely common areas (2 rooftop patios).
