Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesNothing to dislike about this property and service!
Perfect place for a wonderful retreat as a couple, with great rooms, the lake site and amenities are awesome, a fantastic sauna, excellent-delicious food and drinks (breakfast, lunch and dinner). It is a great place with an amazing location away from everything o interrupt your beautiful calm moments. The service was perfect, everyone was friendly and very helpful.

SpainThe only slightly negative thing was that the round trip to Flores by boat was a bit overpriced in our view (USD 180).
We absolutely loved La Lancha! The grounds are beautiful, the casitas are very comfortable and nicely decorated and the food was good. The pool and the lakeside jetty are very nice. We also tried the temazcal, the traditional sauna, which was a wonderful experience. The thing that stood out most to us was the staff. Every single person was extremely friendly and they were all super helpful. We had a very early tour one day and had to leave for the airport early another day, and both times they prepared a nice breakfast to go for us. Can’t recommend this please enough!

FranceThe hotel location is remote, which, unless you have planned in advance, makes you reliant on transport and tours organised by hotel which are quite expensive: - taxi to/from El Remate $40 - taxi or boat to/from Flores $70-80 - Tikal tour €175 pp
Beautiful hotel located on a stunning lake. Pool and lakeside dock are great, as is the lakeside sauna. Casitas are small but well equipped. Saw spider monkeys from our room. Food options are tasty, and staff are super helpful and friendly. Only a few bugs around at dusk, but by wearing long sleeves at dinner, this isn't an issue. We took their Tikal tour and had the best guide ever.

IrelandThis place is so beautiful and relaxing that it's hard to even put the experience into words. The attention to detail is truly remarkable. Inside the room, you'll find everything you need and even more. A funicular takes you down to the private marina, where you can enjoy paddle boarding or simply jump into the lake for a refreshing swim. The temazcal sauna was an unforgettable experience; deeply relaxing and unique. I’d especially like to thank the staff for making my birthday so special with thoughtful room decorations and a surprise cake. Every moment here was filled with care and magic.

United KingdomThe beautiful scenery nested in nature. The staff are SO LOVELY, kind and attentive and helpful- they all made the stay extra special. The breakfast view of the lake and the wonderful array of birds and animals (spider monkeys!) that can be seen from the property. The relaxing pool area and mirador too! 🩷 great location for tours to Tikal, Yahxa etc. Wish we had more time to explore more of the area and do a bird watching tour too.

FranceA bit more double checking and confirmation is needed by staff when making arrangements for their guests. To guarantee everything goes according to plan. But very reactive to fix things and good reliable solutions.
Great location, beautiful decoration, superbe views from the restaurant, very nice swim in the lake and to have the stand up paddles and canoes. Rooms are very comfortable and well equipped. Fun little cable car to go up and down to the lake. Restaurant offer is great and the staff is very dedicated and attentive.

United StatesI honestly can't think of anything that I didn't like.
La Lancha was a truly wonderful destination. Comfort and convenience are central to their services which are provided in a distinct luxury-in-the-jungle style. The Mayan Biosphere offers tons of activities that can be very taxing on the body. La Lancha is a great place to come back to after hiking in Tikal or partaking in other outdoor activity. This is were you want to be to slightly spoil yourself. Another plus on my book: staff had been working there for a long time, mostly locals, who spoke with pride of La Lancha. Well done!

GuatemalaCan be expensive, especially if you’re a local. The food is expensive.
This is likely one of the most beautiful places to stay in Peten, the hotel has incredible views of lake Peten Itza at pretty much every corner. A cool funicular that will take you to the a small dock on the lower part, where you will be able to jump in the lake and continue to admire the scenery. To that you can add really nice food at the restaurant that has enough variety to not taste the same food on a week long trip. But, the best thing about this place is it’s amazing staff, they are so welcoming and friendly, they will treat you like family. They gave us a lot of tips about where to go and how to get there, they always welcomed us back with a smile, a cold towel and a clean room.

NetherlandsTours are unreasonably pricy. The stay would be even better if it provided cheaper tours and/or transport, because this was one of our reasons to visit this part of Guatemala.
Amazing hotel! The setting is stunning, at the lakeside and completely surrounded by nature. Just wow! Great kitchen and super friendly staff! The sweatlodge was a great experience too!

United KingdomThe room could do with updating. Manager introduced himself but then we never saw him again. Tours very pricy. Not enough sunbeds around the pool and the other guests who reserved the few that were there at breakfast time and then did not occupy them until after 4.00pm.
Lovely location. No view from our room but great views from the pool and restaurant. We could easily hear our neighbours in the adjoined next room. So, did not feel very private. Room small and could do with some TLC ie. curtain had a hole, bathroom lights kept flashing on and off. Staff very friendly. Food tasty and portions very large. The proximity to Tikal is a bonus.

United KingdomAfter traveling for a few weeks in Guatemala, we found the prices for the transport and tours pretty extortionate. Obviously it’s a high end hotel but US$80 pp (each way!) just for a 20min boat ride to Flores doesn’t make sense. There were plenty of things in the area that we wanted to do but the price of the tours really put us off, which is a shame. We still really enjoyed feeling very chilled out at the hotel but had we known/had more time, we would probably have split our time between a hotel on Flores island and a couple of days in La Lancha.
The staff were so attentive right from the beginning and they knew us by name from arrival. We were upgraded to a suite as we were on our honeymoon which was extra special. It was a huge and very comfortable room, a bit more hidden from the rest of the complex. Unfortunately my husband was sick during our stay - Noé and Ana Lucia were so helpful in suggesting medications and had a special local tea remedy sent to our suite which was a nice touch. There is a lovely vibe to the hotel and it feels very relaxed.

CanadaI have no constructive criticism whatsoever.
Literally everything. The staff were so helpful and friendly, the service impeccable. Drifting up to the property via boat and taking the funicular up to the hotel is a must - so unique and felt like I had entered the video game Riven/Myst! Such a special experience that my kids and I will never forget. The lake set up is beautiful and so quiet/private, and the pool option is also lovely with great views of the lake. Everything was beautiful, the attention to detail was so appreciated, and their tours are fantastic!
