How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewMagnificent views. Very clean hotel. Everything you needed was available
There is quite a steep climb to the yurts but that of course comes with a beautiful view

Verified reviewWe really enjoyed our time at this hostel. The view from the tent is amazing, waking up to the lake and surrounding volcanoes was wonderful. The tent itself is beautifully set up and the bed was very comfortable. The manager was super friendly and always willing to help with anything we needed. One of the best parts was the breakfast, which gets delivered to your tent. It was delicious, and the honey in particular was fantastic. We also loved that the hostel is run in a sustainable way. Definitely a place we’d recommend to others visiting Lake Atitlán.

Verified reviewThe view from the rooms is absolutely beautiful. They look exactly like the pictures. The kitchen is clean and organised. The staff were kind and so caring. When I accidentally left my bag at the property, they personally came and brought it to me in the town! The rooms are private and secluded - perfect for a quiet getaway!
The property is a short tuktuk drive away from the main restaurants and has many stairs to climb - this was not a problem for us at all but just something to be aware of
Thank you Roux for your feedback! We're glad you enjoyed the peace and the fully equipped kitchen. Hope to welcome you anytime soon!

Verified reviewVery nice kitchen and super nice view. The cabin we stayed in was super spacious and felt cozy.
The cabin we stayed in could use some screens so you are able to leave the door or window open and not get bugs in. Also the mosquito net situation at the bed was not ideal, maybe hanging it up properly on all the hooks would create a more spacious feeling.
Good morning Tom, Thank you very much for your valuable feedback — we will address the matter promptly. It was an absolute pleasure having you with us. We wish you a safe journey and sincerely hope to welcome you back in the future. Warm regards, Sarah

Hi Rakhee, thanks for staying with us and your feedback. We are delighted you enjoyed the kitchen and cooked fantastic meals. Our yurts all have mosquitos nets on the windows to prevent insects coming in, but some of them still make their way inside. Hope to welcome you again soon!

Verified reviewThe most beautiful and relaxing spot at the Atitlan lake. You can easily spend hours contemplating the sunrise and the view on the lake and nearby volcanos. Super comfy beds, hot shower, well equipped kitchen. Very friendly host and the manager will advise you how to enjoy the time well.
Well you have to earn the view by walking up the stairs, which is a good warm up. A few more lamps might be useful on the paths leading to the tents and toilet.
Thank you very much Piotr. It was a pleasure having you and climbing San Pedro volcano. We are working on the lighting of the path, so visit us back soon!

Verified reviewA very nice property with lots of potential, gorgeous views, nicely designed layout and thoughtful use of natural materials. The kitchen is fully equipped and clean. The bathrooms and showers were clean and the yurt was very spacious with king-sized bed, sink, compostable toilet (only a few have a private toilet), table with sitting cushions, shelves, draws under bed, side tables and bed lamps. The balcony had a small table and chairs. The staff was pleasant and very helpful and responsive. We did enjoy the overall experience.
The property is new; however there are still areas that are not yet complete. A few sections of stairways are cut out earth, supported by wood and not the beautiful stone and cement stairs that are easier and safer to use. The motion detection lighting at night is not present thought out the grounds, which can be dangerous at night as the incline and decline is quite steep. We also noticed that a few small details in maintenance were neglected and need to be attended to to keep up the fit and finish this location deserves. We also had a hard time sleeping due to the noise from the Tuk Tuks on the road below and the dogs that barked loudly until 1 am or later. We understand that this is not the fault of the property, but it is a condition of the thin walls of the yurt.
HI Jay, thanks for staying with us and we love your feedback. Our building team is currently replacing the last wooden steps by beautiful stone for a nicer experience as well as installing additional lighting for the path. As we continue to dial in all the details, we hope to welcome you again so you enjoy our eco-hotel. Bests, Fuego :)

Verified reviewIt's all brand new! Such a cool stay! Giant clamping tents with amazing views. Nice kitchen with filtered water. I stayed here for some peace and quiet, which I got. All sides of the tent open if you so like. I got tent one, at the lowest level and even that had a great view of the lake. Loved my own little patio with table and chairs. Very friendly staff.
Not a fan of compost toilets. A little dark at night. Lots of stairs just to even get to hotel area, a little much after many outdoor days.
Hi Chantelle thank you so much for staying with us! We qppreciate the feedback and are actually looking in to buying more solar lights for the path! Happy to welcome you again soon!
