Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe internet can be a bit slow in the evening, but it also rained so maybe that affected it. San Pedro is generally noisy, but after a few nights you get used to it.
It was such a pleasure to meet and stay with the B'atz family. Julio & Vilma are such lovely people who genuinely care about all of their guests. The breakfasts were delicious, and I'm especially grateful for their consideration of my food allergies. It's a modest accommodation, but worth it to feel like you're home. Their home is also conveniently located far enough away from the bars so that you don't hear all that racket.

United KingdomThere is some building work going on which makes noise in the morning, but not an issue if you want to get up and on with the day
Comfy dorms, clean rooms, delicious breakfast and very kind hosts. I was ill when I stayed there and they couldn't have been nicer.

United StatesThere was construction noise early in the morning around 6:30 am; however, with my white noise blackout eye mask it was ok.
It felt like a family visit! I loved how friendly the hosts were! Delicious breakfast - each day was different!

United StatesI loved the location of the accommodation, it’s a 5min walk from the main area with the bars, restaurants, etc but there are so many restaurants close by as well! And it was really quiet at night and in the evenings which was great to chill and relax! Julio and his family are so so friendly! We got a nice breakfast every morning and sat with him and talked about a lot of things and he was very helpful with giving advice and tips on what to do. Ask him about booking trips and activities since it was cheaper than online! The dorm room was simple but you had everything you needed and there is a plug at every bed which was amazing. It really was more like a homestead than a hostel/hotel which was really really nice and comforting and made everyone feel like at home!

GermanyThere was not really any space to hang handwash laundry as there are currently construction works ongoing on the rooftop.
Nothing to complain. It's a budget friendly combination of hostel & homestay run by a nice & welcomming family. The location is pretty quite outside the main tourist-mile and the towncenter, but as san pedro is quite small, everything is only a short walk

Brunei DarussalamA very nice family-run casa. Mr Julio is a good host. He answered my enquiries and he gave good suggestions. He also arranges for tours and shuttle van services at a good price. His wife cooked the best breakfast. Everyday we had a new menu for breakfast. The bed and pillow were comfy to sleep on. Good wifi. Overall I am very satisfied with my stay.

GuatemalaCasa Llemo has a lovely homely feel and the family that run it are super welcoming and friendly. The beds are comfortable and the included breakfast is delicious. You’d struggle to find something better value. Julio also helped us with a shuttle onwards to El Salvador, and offered the cheapest price I could find. Huge thanks to Julio and the family!

Taiwan- Sometimes it could be a bit noisy, but I still had good sleep. - It's a little bit far away from the main pier.
- The breakfast is very delicious! - The checkout time is quite flexible. - There were not a lot of guests when I stayed, so I never have to wait for the toilet (I think there's just 1 toilet/shower). The shower has hot water.

Casa Llemo is all about Julio, his wife Vilma and kids. Stayed with them for 2 weeks and Julio wS constantly checking in with you to see how you were doing and forever helping you learn spanish. He arranged for all your adventures and continued to arrange transportation at discounted prices long after leaving San Pedro. Vilma made every breakfast special, different and always delicious. And if you have the chance join them for the 3 meal plan. Casa Llemo is all rhe best parts of experiencing a homestay like experience. On top of it all Julio took care of a very sick guest as if they were his own daughter!!

South AfricaThe property is up a steep road at the other side of town from the ferry. Access to shower and toilet involved stepping over a concrete staircase which was a bit awkward.
A lovely breakfast of pancakes was included, and possibly other meals but no cooking facilities for guests.

Julio and his family took really good care of me and made me feel more than welcome! Julio also helped me with transit to Guatemala City and made sure everything worked out great. The breakfast served there is also some of the best food I had in Guatemala and it was a joy to wake up to :)
