Full equipped place, great views and super cozy place to enjoy the lake also from the house at every moment of the day

No bathroom doors even if it is part of the house style, do not be disappointed at all!

The Apartment was amazing, I felt home and relaxed the moment I entered. The view from the terrace over the lake is beautiful. Everything was clean, the bed was very comfortable and the flowers a beautiful detail!

The Apartment is right next to the road. It's not too busy though.

Beautiful home by the lake. JB was so responsive and helpful and let me check in early. The place was clean and bedsheets and towels smelt so fresh. Loved the access to the lake at the bottom of the stairs. Amazing views. Highly recommend.

Very small issue but I was a bit sensitive to an odour in the kitchen which might not bother everyone.

We arrived at the location and were immediately in love with the apartment. We had read on the reviews about the short walk from the centre of town to the apartment but this didn't bothered us at all we in fact liked it. It is a 10-15 min walk. I am from Berlin and that for us is like walking two U-stations so it was perfectly fine even if it rained. The view from the living room is majestic and perfect to just stay there the whole day watching the landscape, enjoying their tasty coffee! Admiring the volcanoes, seeing the landscape change, you will be awaken by the lots of birds and nature surrounding, there will be lots of colibris (humming birds) flying around. I even saw fireflies at night which I hadn't seen since childhood! The apartment overall was great, it was comfortable, there was always warm water, the fridge is big, we didn't use the stove but everything seemed fine with it. We lit up the candles at night to avoid mosquitoes and this gave the room a romantic touch. Internet worked most of the times alright, HOWEVER... (see below)

The ONE thing that bothered me (us) which is why im not giving Baraka a 10 is the privacy. The apartment was poorly soundproof and we could literally hear everything from either the upper or lower room (apartment). The first night someone (we don't know from were) yelled at us in spanish asking us to be quiet, it wasn't even 9pm and we weren't really loud, we were normal loud. Next morning I had a message from the host apologizing and he told us they were going to move the other guests to a different room or facility. There were however ongoing construction works during the day so that we basically didn't feel free the whole time. I was even sort of scared when trying to play my music. With a better sound proof this would have been the ideal place for a couple retreat.

Scenic, cosy, attention to detail and lovely view (if only the trees hadn’t grown so much :)

It was a bit more remote than we’d expected. About a 15min walk into town. We were in apartment 3, which was lovely, but I think number 1 and 2 had better elevated views and less stairs to climb.

Absolutely amazing views from the apartment. We loved the sofas right in front of the large windows and just relaxing and taking in the view of the lake and volcanoes ! The comfy robes were a nice touch. It was peaceful and quiet since it was just outside of the busier part of San Marcos. We are hoping to return !

We enjoyed our stay at Baraka Atitlan! The view cannot be beat. Mornings sipping coffee listening to the birds above the lake were truly a dream and afternoons swimming in the sun were ideal. It was a quick walk to San Marcos as well, where we could grab groceries, go to yoga or easily get a water taxi to other lakeside towns.

There was some construction as well as a party that occurred while we were there (which was not communicated to us prior), so not the total peace and quiet we were hoping for. However, the host was communicative and kind about the situation which was appreciated!

Even it is not the cheapest place you can get, you most definitely get more than you are expecting. The bathroom was the biggest surprise. It comes with a free standing tub from where you have a really nice view over the lake and the volcano on the opposite lake side!

You have to be aware that the toilet is included in the bathroom, which ist only separated from the bedroom through a glass wall.

No food provided. The add was not clear. It was confused between here and another place.

Was a bit of a walk from town on a gravel road.

Wonderful views across the water and water clean for swimming by the jetty. Comfortable, spacious apartment. Walking distance to town - nice to be a little bit out of the centre.

No staff on-site but very good communication throughout our stay. Some maintenance work taking place on-site but aesthetic rather than much disruption during the day.

Easy and fast communication with the host, easy check in. Just a short stroll from the town, which we liked for peace and privacy. Loved the free kayaks. Bed was very comfortable. Fully equipped kitchen, we enjoyed preparing meals there. Beautiful views and a private little hideaway, perfect for birdwatching and relaxing.

Minor things I think would make a big difference if they were added/changed: Another set of curtains between bedroom and bathroom, for morning light and toilet privacy. I would move the outside hanging (bird?) box to the other side, it's kind of obstructing the view of the volcano. People mentioned about the construction, it's still going, but can't really do much about it.

This place is absolutely BEAUTIFUL. It’s super clean, relaxing, with a boho vibe and the most lush greenery overlooking Lake Atitlan. The bathroom looks out over volcanoes and can open the doors wide to hear the birds and waves.

Toilet is in full view through the glass from the bed. We had to do some creative redecorating for a little privacy.

Very spacious, nice view and cozy. Large windows, outdoor space with seating, solid hot shower.

Windows had gaps, and overall sound insulation is poor. You can clearly hear neighbours walking as if they are in your room- property creaks. Music/fireworks outside will be loud - wear earplugs.

The view at this property is genuinely unparalleled with floor to ceiling windows looking out over the volcanoes. The balcony is framed in stunning honeysuckle and tropical flowers that bring hummingbirds right next to you and this is the closest thing to being in nature while still benefitting from the creature comforts of an indoor stay. We didn’t want to move from the chaise beds in front of the window- particularly because the hosts considered and provided so many thoughtful details to enhance the experience (like delicious fluffy bathrobes to enjoy as we drank our morning coffee looking out over Lake Atitlán). We appreciated the yoga mats and the open floor plan that allowed us to do some Barre3 in front of the view with the doors open to bring in the breeze. Even the lighting was extraordinarily thoughtful- with multicolored LEDs enhancing the foliage at night and sound activated lighting that really created some awesome ambiance. And, the host was truly wonderful too, allowing us a later check out so we could properly pack up before our afternoon tour plans in San Juan La Laguna. This was a tremendous value and such an awesome place- we were sad to leave and would stay there again in a hot second when we get to return to San Marcos.

This was a larger place and it’s likely more than one person will be booking the unit. There was coffee provided (it was delicious and so appreciated- it’s a critical aspect of a stay for us as we’re non functional humans without it) however the French press was a single serving and that was a bit tricky. As it’s likely more than one person will stay in the room, that’s a small tweak that would be an appreciated upgrade. A few things to flag that are important to know when booking for others. There are super steep stairs as this is on the side of a mountain- and it’s the reason the views are incredible. If someone in your party is not ambulatory or isn’t confident with heights or steep stairs, this may create an issue for you. Also, be mindful of how you pack. We had roller bags that convert to backpacks so we were easily able to get our bags up and into the room. I appreciated the heads up about the stairs in the posting and the reviews. If we had bulky baggage we would definitely have struggled so keep that in mind. Also, it’s an open place and in the trees- and there are cracks and crevices, as well as open air when you open the windows and the occasional insect makes its way in. We did not mind and expected this- it comes with the open natural beauty of the place- but if you’re squeamish be aware that you may find a spider here or there. It’s to be expected and shouldn’t be something that docks the property so I wanted to mention to set expectations for future travelers and avoid any negative reviews due to that. It didn’t detract from our stay AT ALL, but your mileage may vary based on your level of comfort with outdoor flora & fauna. 😊
