Alice’s guesthouse is a literal oasis in the jungle! There are great vibes from the staff and the common areas, and we had spider monkeys right over one of our bungalows one evening! They were thoughtful checking in with us during our stay, they helped arrange a taxi, and were just incredibly welcoming and lovely!

There wasn’t anything that they could control that we didn’t like!

Excellent good choice and really good quality food. Lovely restaurant area to sit and relax in. Fantastic grounds, felt very welcome. Lots of good advice given. Woke up to the. Sound of howler monkeys in the tree behind our dorm. What an experience. Saw hummingbirds, toucans, and monkeys from the bar area.

    Nothing

Beautiful place, you feel like you are in a jungle. Definitely worth visiting to have a different perspective of the lake. Room was beautiful, hot shower and lovely hammocks to just chill.

Eh.. you are in the jungle :) you will be joined on your journey with bugs and take your shower with coaching toads 😊

Where to begin... We had the most wonderful stay at Alice's Guesthouse. All the staff are absolutely amazing and really attentive. Everyone wanted to know how we were doing and how our days had been, it felt very homely. It's a real oasis and a perfect place to relax and listen to all the wildlife. It was really handy having the restaurant and bar on site, and as it closes by 10 you could get an early night without any noise. We were travelling to Belize City after our stay here and Alice got us booked onto a shuttle the day before with no issue, super helpful. So many cute cats and dogs (an added bonus!) We didn't book an organised tour to Tikal through the guesthouse just as we wanted to be a little more flexible on our timings but it was really easy to get a local bus at the end of the road up to Tikal for around £3 pp. All in all, an amazing stay, thank you!

As it's very indoor/outdoor living, we did have a fair few ants in our room when we came back one evening. Not a huge problem as we expected some bugs but may be helpful for future guests to know.

Nice and quiet place. We stayed in a dorm with double beds. The atmosphere was very pleasant. The bed sheets were a bit used and there is no place to put your clothes but it was clean and well prepared. They serve amazing smoothies

We loved our stay at Alice’s guesthouse. The on site restaurant cooked great food (for breakfast, lunch and dinner) at a very reasonable price, the staff were lovely and the relaxed vibe was very enjoyable. Loved the proximity to the lake and how at one with nature we felt during our stay. There’s not many places you can stay and wake up to the sounds of howler monkeys.

    Nothing at all!

El Remate is a beautiful town by a picturesque lake. The Guest house is very clean and well maintained and the buildings built in good taste. The restaurant had very nice food and was well decorated amidst trees. Alice was very responsive to my queries. Good value

I stayed in a 4 bed dormitory. The two beds were on a platform and had lots of space. The other two were under the platform which was very low so had to crawl into the bed under the mosquito net. There was only one shower for quite a few people and had to wait a while. As a solo woman I found the location a bit isolated with many stray dogs around

Nice location in the jungle. Beautiful design and friendly staff!

The dorm was located in a tower which moved every time someone moved around.

The staff is nice and helpful. All area is clean, tidy and impress. Have booked the bed for 2 people. Normal is single bed for dorm room. Luckily We felt comfortable and no problem at all. The temperature is very high 37 degrees, doesn't felt hot, I guess the top of the room, made of leave. Good place for staying. 😁

El Remate to tikal the shuttle is 70Q (one way). 100Q(2way) Flores to Tikal, the shuttle is 100Q. However the distance is half way between El Remate and tikal. That's doesn't make sense for me. Alice told that is not her price. Finally we took public shuttle, from el remate to tikal, 30Q each way/person. We enjoyed the free time from 730am until 3pm. We had more free time than the tour.

The setting was so lovely, out in the jungle with beautiful views of the surrounding areas. The restaurant/lounging area was very nice in an outdoor setting. The food was very good. The beds were comfortable and the room was very clean. The whole vibe of the setting was chill and magical.

There were lots of people smoking cigarettes in the restaurant/lounging area which is hard for me because the smoke gives me headaches.

The place is idillic, in the middle of jungle, have activities around to do and walks, the owners are lovely and there is always a fire lit😊

Bed slightly uncomfortable and you can hear the outside as you are in a palapa and it is shaky when people come un and down but the room is very spacious, you get a mosquito net. There is no kitchen to your disposal so bear in mind, ut you can use a fridge and they provide you with cutlery if needed:)
