How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewNice little guesthouse with all the amenities you could want. Right next to a supermarket with food trucks using the car park in the evenings.
Just bear in mind the manager of the property doesn’t speak English. A lot of Google translate was required but she was extremely pleasant regardless.

Verified reviewIt was very nice to stay here. The appartement is very clean, the bed is very comfortable, the location is unbeatable, next to a big supermarket and cloae to the bus stand. They offer airport shuttle and transport to the harbour in case you want to take the ferry to another island in the morning. Micheline took care of me and helped me to make all everything easy and comfortable. Thank you very much, Micheline!

Verified reviewThe apartment itself was nice, the kitchen had most of the necessary things to cook a nice meal. The bed was okay, spacious room.
I stayed with my friend for 4 nights and some other people came and went from the other rooms. My friend and I were there most nights, cooking simple meals for ourselves, spending most of the time in the bedroom when we were there. After we checked out, I received a message from the owner Melanie, telling me that the other guests had reported us eating and throwing out their food, leaving the common areas in a despicable mess and something about pretending not to speak French with the lady that showed us the apartment (I speak French, my friend doesn’t). I was absolutely shocked to hear such a statement and my friend and I discussed the whole afternoon about exactly what we ate, whether we could have possibly mistaken someone else’s food for ours, but it just wasn’t possible. I explained to Melanie exactly what we ate to try to ensure that we weren’t being wrongly accused and that this is a total misunderstanding. As for the common areas, we are both in our 12th month of travel into this trip, we are entirely respectful of all common areas and would never leave them messy. It was so disheartening to be accused of this and more so, being reported to Booking.com about it. I have no idea what else to say, I’m in total shock. I also don’t understand what the language thing, I speak French any chance I get. Whoever said these things must have hated us from the start because absolutely none of their accusations line up.
Hello, Thank you for sharing your feedback and having recognized the quality of the apartment, which you had also wished to extend, making your final evaluation and your note difficult to understand. Several reports about you have been brought to my attention. I have been informed of serious violations of the house rules: the other roommates claim that you ate their food without permission, and even threw out some of their food, you used the common areas inappropriately and without respect for others (uncleaned toilets, personal laundry and smelly panties exposed on the dryer in the work area, kitchen left dirty, dishes often left behind and soil soiled etc...). In addition, you have not paid the deposit on arrival. I contacted you in advance, for the sake of fairness, before any action to clarify the situation and find out what really happened. Your answer clearly surprised me, you indicated to me that all these reports are false, (even though I have received evidence) and that the others "hated" you surely despite the fact that you did not exchange much with them. This is the first time that I have faced such a difficult situation, and that I have been reported to have experienced such serious behaviour in my home. Cohabitation in co-location is based on mutual respect: when several people express the same problem, I must examine it seriously in order to preserve a pleasant environment for all. To date, you have not provided any response or proposal for regularization, despite the official reporting from Booking.com. As a result, a proceeding remains pending and will be forwarded to our legal protection. Respect for the living environment and other occupants is a non-negotiable priority, we remain uncompromising on the respect of the premises and other occupants. Sincerely, Melanie
