Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe menu was very limited, especially at breakfast. More options needed Lots of items on the menu were unavailable and should not have been on the menu. We suggest that they post a daily seasonal menu (maybe on a board visible to all guests) The eco huts were very attractive but very dark which made it hard to read a book or see what you were doing
The location was beautiful Calm and relaxing The staff were very kind and helpful Lots of birds and monkeys to enjoy Great to be by the sea Simple but imaginative Other guests were very nice - community feeling

United KingdomThere are down-sides to all these lovely features. There are no electric sockets in the room so phones, tablets etc must be charged in the restaurant only between 9am - 5pm. The electricity cannot be used for anything else such as hair-dryers etc. There is no WiFi!! The "WiFi" is actually the hotspot of one of the staff's phone. I had a local SIM but the signal was poor and intermittent. Suggest you do any vital internet stuff before you get there, and then switch off and don't even try to get a signal!! There are no shops nor ATM nearby. You would need to get a taxi to get to a bank.
Beautiful location right on a lovely beach. Nemasu is excellent for a relaxing off-grid break. There is a good restaurant on-site, overlooking the beach. There is a lovely garden, and the gardener gave me a guided tour, explaining what all the plants and trees are. There were monkeys playing in the garden, and outside my cabin. The staff are all very conscious of ecology and environment. Electricity is only from solar power, rubbish is recycled. There is a really calm and relaxing vibe. The staff lit a fire every evening and it was great to meet fellow-travellers around the fire. It's lovely to walk to the nearby mosque which is located right on the beach, and further to the fishing village of Gunjur.

SwedenI would have wish for a little bit fuller breakfast, for example a full bread could be offered to every guest and maybe some more fruits. Otherwise no complaints.
Wonderful place located in a quiet location on the beach. Cosy and traditionally decorated rooms, with all basic amenities. Very clean and lovely with duvets during the cold nights of the winter season. On site restaurant with a limited but good selection of food, made to order so fresh but a bit of a waiting time. Staff from the local community that are friendly and trying their best in catering for everybody.

We had an amazing stay at Nemasu. The best of it are people working there. Always kind, smiling, helpful. The views are amazing! Ocean is great and the beach is long and wide. The food is also delicious especially pizza from the oven and local dishes.

United StatesJust north along the beach is a Chinese canning factory. Depending on the wind direction there was occasionally the strong smell of fish. Sheets were ill fitting on the bed, but the mattress was comfortable. Depending on the time of year the water can be quite cold. Late February the water was cold and there was a cold wind, which was nice for walking during the day. Do not expect a hot shower.
They accepted credit card through Paypal. Most places only take cash. Breakfast was good, eggs any style, fresh bread w/ peanut butter and homemade jam, fruit and coffee. Beach was quite empty and if you're up to it, you can walk about 2 leisurely hours along the beach to the Senegal border. After crossing a river mouth (by way of going knee-deep through the surf,) you can follow a road up, turn right and find a great seafood restaurant called Dodous (sp?) You can take a taxi back if you're tired. You can also find smaller eco-lodges that offer beer and food along the beach. it's one way to spread the wealth. While the beaches are mostly empty, if you want to interact with people, they can be found and are friendly and approachable. There's a beautiful mosque close by and a fish market just beyond it along the beach, all within easy walking distance.

United KingdomThe wifi isn’t great, although it wasn’t a problem for me as the staff helped me purchase a local SIM card. It’s a minor inconvenience which didn’t affect my stay at all.
The lodge was beautiful, clean, relaxing, safe, and the staff were super professional and welcoming. The food was great and the prices were good. As a solo traveller, all of the staff went out of their way to make sure I felt at home and were so friendly. Thanks to all 😊

BelgiumWe liked everything!
Kindness of the staff, the location, it's safe to leave your stuff on the beach when you go for a walk or swim, people don't try to sell things all the time, great local food, best place to relax and meet people. It's an eco lodge, so they ask you to respect that and to think twice before you use water or electricity. Not the place to go if you want a luxery hotel, with European food and facilities, You will find those hotels in the tourist area where they treat you like a tourist. At Nemasu you're a guest. Best place to stay!
