Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Zimbabwe-The wifi is terrible -No phones in the rooms, so you have always have to walk a distance outside to the reception if you needed help with something. -No television
The location is great, just by the beach. Loved the beach, not too crowded. The place felt safe too.

United KingdomMy original room was opposite a noisy nightclub, had to pay more to move to a (very nice) room closer to the beach. Service was appaulingly slow - took over 40 minutes to bring two teas.
Very pleasant environment, room was good, pools and beach were lovely. Some healthier choices on the restaurant menu.

United KingdomThe location of the Stones building block Too noisy . We upgraded to the Springs apartments and these were far better. Didn't like the fact that there were no changing facilities at the pool. Had to use the toilet to change out of wet swimwear, which was not ideal. The pool and pathways around the site could use some much need maintenance. Bar staff in the salt restaurant very slow.
The grounds were fantastic, good location to the beach. Guys around pool getting sunbeds and towels for you were great. Location of the hotel brilliant. The size of the apartments in the Springs block were a good size. Clean but tired.

LuxembourgThe room was full of cockroaches, coming from the bedsheets and everywhere....we had such a bad experience at night. We returned to the apartment after the reception had closed, and we had to contact the security where they called the boss/ manager to give us another room. They were super helpful, and I understand that in such an area it's normal to have insects, but the amount of cockroaches that we had in the room, and how they were coming out of bed, gave us a nightmare.
It was near the beach with a lot of restaurants around.

United StatesMusic can be very loud at night. I believe it comes from night clubs across the street. Some nights I couldn’t sleep until 3 or 4 am. This is the only reason I didn’t give the place a 10/10. There was also a time the water shut off in the building for an hour. They fixed it though but it was unexpected and an inconvenience.
Nice staff. Convenient location. A lot of shops and restaurants were close by. Police checkpoints also keep the place secure.

NorwayA bit of an ant invasion in the apartment. Bit pricey for food and drinks.
Beautiful quiet and nice location. We slept in the stone apartments which were close to the Senegambia strip, so a little noise from the clubs and bars. But the resort itself has a wonderful garden, lots of animal life and friendly staff. Would definitely book again, but I would go for the garden houses since we travel with children and like it quiet at night.

BelgiumThe hotel has changed somewhat compared to our previous visit in 2022. Back then, the 'Sands' section wasn't finished. Part of expansion sure, but whether it's a good thing.... It detracts from the charm of Kololi Beach Resort and is already more reminiscent of your standard 'all inclusive hotel' in European destinations. The Sands Restaurant has become terribly crowded in the evenings because of this expansion. So in the evening, we invariably fled to the Strip for something to eat. The beach area, which in 2022 was still for Kololi Beach guests (by the way, anno 2024, still so stated in their 'welcome brochure'), was now apparently 'only accessible for Sands guests', we were told by a staff member when we wanted to spend an afternoon there. We 'had' to lie on the lawn, this was for Kololi Beach guests though.... Nonsense. This while Sands guests could use Kololi Beach's pools? If one wants to differentiate between kololi Beach and 'sands', this should be extended throughout.
Beautiful hotel with excellent location. Already 2nd time we have come here on holiday, and we invariably come back here next time! Very friendly staff who also approach you personally, they know their clientele. First time staying in the 'stones' studio, was a lesser experience because of the nearby GTS bar (playing very loud music until the early hours, ideal for going out but less so for people who want their peace and quiet). Now stayed in the "Kololi Villas", slightly more expensive but still very excellent value for money, also peace and quiet guaranteed! Highly recommended

SpainNothing at all
The resort is located in a prime area, covering a vast, perfectly maintained grassy field that leads to a private beach. It has several pools spread across the entire property, which are rarely crowded. The tranquility is complete, and the sense of peace is absolute. Great care has been taken with all the facilities.

SwedenThe room was at most mid range, not more. The adjacent beach was nice, but the problem was that locals also could be there and they were. As soon as you get to the beach people come and talk to you in order to sell things.
Nice area around the hotel buildings and the layout of the area. Nice pool and also nice restaurant. Nice people in the reception. Probably a great place for being in the Gambia.
