How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewAre you looking for a return to your roots or a place where you can find yourself, where joy, friendliness and love of life are still taken seriously, where you can let your soul unwind, switch off and get a massage every day? Come here! If you are looking for ass kissers who will only serve you because they want their money? then you have come to the wrong place. Bosofet Beach and Creek Lodge, which is located on the beach of Sanyang, Gambia - far away from other people and settlements - is a small business that has only been in existence for 3 years. They are still working on it, but it’s here done like in Germany, where we needed 15 years for an airport. That’s makes it here very natural and sympathetic. I was there at a especially peaceful time during Ramadan month and I enjoyed the quietness and peace. From the very first day I sat around the fire at night with the young operators, having ifta, eating and drinking Ataya together with them. I have never felt so comfortable and accepted in the world. The true open friendship, honesty and kindness is hardly to find. Or like an other customer said: „From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed like family. The people here don't feel like staff; they are friends, sharing their warmth, kindness, and incredible hospitality in a way that makes you feel like you truly belong. They do everything for you-not out of duty, but out of pure generosity.“ And he is true! For me this is more worth, than anything else. I don’t need a golden toilet or someone powdering my sweet behind. I highly recommend this place to anybody who wants a time out for himself and enjoy pure humanity.

Verified reviewWonderful place with wonderful people for those who love being surrounded by nature and living a simple life in peaceful environment. I stayed 14 nights and I wished to stay much longer, as I felt really at home there. My stay in Bosofet gave me a great relief after living in the most touristic and overcrowded areas and it changed totally my impression from the whole monthly travel in Gambia for much better. I can say that thanks to Bosofet and the people there I have very good memories from visiting the country. It was especially peaceful time during Ramadan month and I enjoyed the quietness and my privacy, which was my priority. Despite the place is situated at a remote beach, it's very easy to travel from there to many places by public transportation or taxi. Although, I would recommend it especially to those who loves walking, too. I'm really appreciate the time I spent there and I'm looking forward to be back one day :)
thank you so much,Claudia,we are really excited to host you and we are looking forward to seeing you again

Verified reviewI originally planned to stay at Bosofet Creek Lodge for two nights, but it turned into six—and honestly, I could have stayed even longer. This place isn’t just a lodge; it’s an experience, a feeling, a home away from home. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed like family. The people here don’t feel like staff; they are friends, sharing their warmth, kindness, and incredible hospitality in a way that makes you feel like you truly belong. They do everything for you—not out of duty, but out of pure generosity. I had the privilege of visiting during Ramadan, and every evening, I was invited to break fast with them. Sharing food, stories, and laughter around the campfire each night was something truly special. One of my favorite moments was cooking together, learning new flavors, and experiencing firsthand the joy and community spirit that defines this place. And then there’s the beach—endless, untouched, and completely yours. No beach boys, no hassle, just pure peace. Whether you want to take a quiet walk, relax in the sun, or listen to the waves in complete serenity, this is the perfect place to do it. If you’re looking for the most relaxed, heartwarming, and genuine experience, this is it. Bosofet Creek Lodge isn’t just a place to stay—it’s a place to connect, unwind, and create memories that will stay with you forever. I can't wait to come back!
That I couldnt stay longer!

Verified reviewThere are no words to describe the hospitality of the staff in Bosofet. All our requests were met. We have booked a bungalow at the beach, 50 meters to the ocean. Bungalow is quite spacious and comfortable but you don't spend much time there :) you have all the beach to yourself and if you wish, you can take a boat-trip on the river nearby or go for a walk to the village. We have also had plenty of different trips, our guide was Max, who shared so many interesting local stories and took us to wonderful places. There is so much positive energy in Bosofet, that you could literally feed on that :) but you have also plenty of wonderful food, omelettes and toasts and vegetables for breakfast and jollof rice, fish, oysters, chicken or anything you wish for dinner. I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants relax and peace, being close to the nature and simply enjoy The Gambia experience and hospitality of this kind people.
Nie było nic takiego, wszystko było fantastyczne.

Verified reviewwhat a relaxing place to enjoy the ocean and local life. About 2km away from Sanyang Beach "Center" with small restaurants, little shops and colourful fishing boats. It takes about 30min to walk there on the beach. Bosofet has only 6 rooms, all with a veranda and in front a palm tree garden and the ocean and beach, which is very clean for Gambia concerns. Omar and his friends and staff organize everything you ask for and help whereever they can. And theres also LUCKY, the Bosofet dog if you like hugging - he´s so friendly too. Bosofet is also a good place if you what to explore the Southwest of The Gambia like Brikama or Kartong. Breakfast and other meals are provided if ordered in advance at very reasonable costs. WIFI ist working well. Bring moskito spray! Thank you Omar and all the others for your hospitality!
Sometimes very little water in the shower - but thats normal in The Gambia.
Thank you so much Thomas, for your beautiful time, you spent with us

Verified reviewThe location
Having to ask the staff 5 times for bedding and towels after we arrived. 8 times for a mosquito net which was finally fitted at 9pm. No water to the sink plus cold shower. Room and veranda never swept whilst we were there. Covered in ants which got into the bed. Breakfast a con. The pictures on booking.com stolen from a local bakery. All they offer is bread and eggs.
Hello there,Paul, I didn't think, this was fair review of our lodge, there was never a point we put up pictures, that are not ours, and to say the veranda was never clean, wasn't accurate, and the water supply ,which we took from the main borehole, when out of electricity, is out of our control

Verified reviewBosofet creek lodge is a wonderful place. The staff working here are the most charming, helpful, funny, welcoming… I have ever met. They all do their best to make your stay the most pleasant as possible. It was always possible to hang out with the guys, just chill on my own or with other guests. But not just the staff is wonderful. Also the little beach paradise Omar created is just magic. It’s the perfect spot to relax from the hectic areas in Senegambia. They put a lot of love and effort in creating a unique environment with palms, flowers, chill areas… Also the food is highly recommendable. Thanks, for that wonderful relaxing time!
thank you so much, Franziska, you are really an amazing person, we are so happy to host you, looking forward to seeing you again

Electricity was hit and miss but i understand this is a problem in Gambia.

Verified reviewbreakfast is very average, different from what is in the pictures
bathroom at a good level Unfortunately there was no water or electricity or a mirror I could not shave and bathe after a long journey. the only water was outside, which I show in the photo. The airport transfer was as free, and I had to pay for it.
Hello there,Brother, when you came in at Bosofet, there's a general problem a the borehole, where the entire beach got their supply from, which was beyond our control and it was fixed before you left and their was electricity,if not other guests couldn't stay, and seconly you only booked for one night, which is 20 euro, and if we make airport service for free for you, then we have nothing from your stay, and the breakfast was never average, sometimes lets be factual, kind regards

Verified reviewThe last lodge along the beach road, so very quiet and peaceful. Good clean rooms and friendly helpful staff. A few steps to the beach and only 20 minutes walk from Rainbow/Jungle beach if you wish for more company or a greater menu choice. Recommended - I will certainly be coming back.

Verified reviewThe staff make the place so welcoming, and it's at the end of the beach furthest from the horrible fish factory so there's less smell. This is a really peaceful place with a good vibe, we're just sad to only have one night there before flying!
The rooms need a bit more finishing off but I'm sure they'll get there!
