Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe only downside was there was no air-con. We had the ceiling fan and a stand alone fan - which were very much needed, but we were still uncomfortable in the heat, especially at night. We couldn't open the windows at night as it was too noisy outside - being in a great location had it's drawback with lots of people being around, so the window stayed closed. That is the only negative thing I can say about the apartment, everything else was lovely and I would definitely recommend it and would definitely stay again. 😊
We were sent a lovely message from Leanne with directions and the door code before we arrived. The apartment is in a great location and was very clean on arrival. The apartment itself was very cosy with lots of extra touches to make it homely, which was lovely and we were very comfortable there.

SpainAs others have mentioned, there is a bit of street noise, and on a warm night we did not want to close the windows. We still slept well. There was a very efficinet celiing fan which worked well for us even on an unusually warm June night, but if you are used to aircon, I would go at a different time of year.
Excellent location and a comfortable, nicely decorated room in a historic house. Everything about the booking was very efficient. We were in Gibraltar to get married and initally contacted 4 places to make sure they could provide the official letter required to confirm a hotel booking. We never heard back from 3 of them. I can only suspect these place might not have the appropriate letting licences, despite being on Booking.com. Engineer House however, knew exactly what was needed and provided it at the appropriate time with no prompting from us. All instructions and house rules were also very clearly explained. Messages were answered promptly The room was comfortable with a good bed and proper bed linen. Good shower and a tiny kitchen perfect for preparing simple hot snacks, salads etc

United KingdomWe were fine with the ceiling fan (it was 35 degrees when we were there) but some people might prefer air conditioning.
The location is great - right in the centre but off the main road so it wasn't noisy overnight, the room was really nicely decorated and comfy, and communication with the staff was excellent.

SpainThe location of the apartment was great, parking a few mins walk at ICC carpark, (23euro for 24hr), everything is on the doorstep, shops and restaurants, we were attending a show in St Michael Caves, the pickup at Main carpark was a few mins walk away for this. Check-in was simply with good communication from the host. Although not huge the room was set up perfectly with everything needed and was comfortable, we would certainly use Engineer Lane for any future stay.

Austriathe luggage storage was a closet in the public hallway without a lock; the host sends you the code for the main door via whatsapp - make sure you write it down separately if you put your luggage in the closet because the host deletes the messages after checkout

United KingdomLocation: Because it is on an alley style street, you can hear every sound within what feels like a 1-mile radius. Foam earplugs are provided with the room, but I wore my own custom fitted earplugs and I could still hear some of the noise through them. If you are the type of person who can’t sleep with even a whisper of noise, I feel you may struggle here
Amenities: The room was really clean and well presented with many amenities to improve your stay. There is WiFi which is a bonus, luggage storage after checking out if you need it, and the bed is extremely comfortable. Hosts: The hosts are lovely and very responsive to questions. They provide you with all the information in an easy to understand format before check-in and once you are checked in, there is a folder available with more information Location: It’s just off Casement’s Square which means it is convenient for food, shopping, the Ocean Village, and the taxi rank

SpainWe stayed on a Friday night and there was a bit of street noise in early hours as people made their way home from their night out. Double glazing would probably help. We noticed they provide ear plugs so I assume it’s been mentioned before. Please don’t let that put you off staying. There are some pretty manky places in Gib but this isn’t one of them. Apartment is perfectly good.
Great location just off main shopping street.

United StatesIt is small. Perfect for 1 person but very manageable for 2.
The location is fantastic. It is a small unit but everything that you could possibly need. Very clean, very modern. There is nothing that we didn't like. It was on a very busy street that was rather loud at night and I was worried about that, but it quieted down by about 9 PM.And even in the morning it was very quiet. We were coming from Morrocco. So after staying in some historic riads, it was heaven. If you are in town to visit the gibraltar rock could not be more convenient. In addition to that , it is right in the heart of town where there are many restaurants and shops , everything you could possibly need or want.

The apartment is very close to Main St. It’s clean and comfortable. There’s a microwave, fridge and kettle in the room with a small table to eat at if needed. The information folder had good information if you’ve not been in Gibraltar before
