How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewBeautiful home with a wonderful family as hosts. My family had such a great time here. The rooms were clean, spacious, and very comfortable. The river flowing right in front of the house added a calming touch with its soothing sound. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Mestia . You’ll feel right at home!

Verified reviewHost Guja was super helpful. He helped with arranging day trip and marshrutka tix to Ushgulli and to Kutaisi, and gave me a lift from the guesthouse to the bus station as well! I also appreciated the hangout areas throughout the guesthouse, nice art, and with the back veranda having a nice view of the river and mountains. Washing machine was helpful too
Slightly further 15min away from the town centre across the river, but then again, great starting point for day hike to ushgulli and chruti ridge.

Verified reviewThe people were super friendly, really nice atmosphere and common areas. The owner invited us to drink wine with him and several others on our first night which was really kind of him and a great intro to the place! Lots of long-term guests which is nice. The room was comfy and had a working space and sofa. The shower was good and the WiFi fairly stable.
The rug was a little bit dirty when we arrived but it was hoovered immediately and everything was fine afterwards. The only other downside is that on my last night I leaned on a part of the bed that had a spike coming out of it and it cut me. There is usually a soft additional mattress thing on top of the actual mattress but it had slipped slightly and I caught something on the mattress underneath.
Matt, thanks for so much appreciation! We are glad that you liked us. Thank you for pointing out the flaws. We will definitely check and fix everything! We are waiting for you to visit again ❤ ️

Verified reviewA magnificent guest house where you feel at home, thanks to the hospitality of Guja and Zaira. It is always clean and warm in the rooms, a spacious hall where you can comfortably sit with a laptop. This winter, a mesh network appeared, so there is a stable network coverage not only in the house, but also on the terrace and even in the yard. It is planned to install a diesel generator, which will provide stable Internet despite power outages.
Annoying barking of dogs at night

Verified reviewThis was the second time we stayed in Mestia Residence and it was still the same pleasure : Big room with plenty equipments , even slippers. Wonderful view on the village of Mestia and all the towers , just across the river. The situation is more quiet than downtown and only 15 min walking. Superbe big terrasse , a yard with a place with BBQ. We left our car there during 5 days for free. The wifi works perfectly well. The hike going to Ushguli is just across the road. Wonderful buffet breakfast. The best we had in Géorgia All that for a most reasonable price

Verified reviewMestia is a great little town to visit, Beautiful, and clean. For 3 lari to explore the watchtowers was a highlight. A trip to Ushgali to see the glacier is also a definite if you visit Mestia
We asked about the tour trip to Ushguli. On the board it stated 250 lari, however, because we were a group of 9 we were told the evening prior to going that it would cost 300 lari as they needed to use a different vehicle. No problem. However, upon returning we were told it was 350 lari. We explained that we had been told it was 300 lari. However, they would not budge. So after a fantastic day out visiting Ushgali and the glacier, we were left with a very bitter taste of feeling ripped off. So disappointing! Will definitely not stay here again. Beware... pay up front so that the price cannot be changed.

Verified reviewComfortable bed and spacious room. Access to kitchen and watching machine. It is a good place to work from, if you need. Kind people managing the property. A good spot to start the Mestia to Ushguli.
They don’t have air conditioner in the rooms. Is a bit away from the center of Mestia.
Dear guest, I will answer you that air conditioning is not available in guesthouses, not hotels, in Mestia, secondly, I wrote on the booking that it is 1.5 km from Marzili, and if you want to be in the center, you should book an apartment there.
