How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewStaff and residents were friendly. Able to use the fridge and kitchen for simple cooking. Basic and clean room. Hot shower and ok wifi. Shared toilets by the kitchen was smelly, so I walked all the way to the other end of the building (near room 1) to use a much better western toilet. Stayed 3 nights and had good sleep. I needed to catch a train to Tbilisi at 5:50am and the lady staff got up to open the hostel door for me, much appreciated!

Verified reviewLoved this old building! Definitely a place for a traveler, not someone on holiday or looking for something fancy. Mostly locals staying, did not meet other backpackers. The ladies running it do not speak English but they're nice nonetheless. Basic kitchen, big rooms, good wifi, no AC nor fans but even in July it didn't feel too hot as it's a giant building with millions of windows. Top location
Bathrooms are not nice or comfortable but to be expected for the price.

Verified reviewOne of the best hostels I ever stayed at. Since the building is so large, I got a private room when I booked a shared dorm. The location is near to the major sights in Borjomi. The staff is super friendly and generous. The building itself is very historic and interesting to wander around.

Verified reviewExcellent location - close to Borjomi park, train station, taxis, easy to reach attractions. Shops are around. Very nice and sweet staff members. It was a very peaceful place. Soviet-era building and furniture add extra flavor to the place. Feels like time travel. If you are looking for an affordable stay it's a perfect place.

Verified reviewPerfect for budget traveller. Central location, friendly staff despite no English, big spooky mansion but room and shower are kept warm, warm comfortable bed. Old and tired building but everything I needed for a reasonable price- thanks.

Verified reviewYou will either love or hate this draughty old mansion and its faded glory. I am glad there are still some places like this for backpackers to stay inexpensively.

Verified reviewIt's a good hostel for the price, with a comfortable bathroom and a balcony overlooking a beautiful street. The staff is friendly and helpful.
I came in the winter, although there was a heating system in the room, the room was getting cold from outside, the doors were very old and there were feathers on the blanket.

Verified reviewFirst thing, the hostel is very easy to find and is in a prime location of Borjomi. It is located right on or next to the Borjomula River. If you walk a little bit upstream, you can reach the Borjomi Central Park where one can find the fountain where the Borjomi water bubbles out of the earth. There is also the aerial tram, and then the walk up to the thermal hot springs. I thought the location was great for the proximity to these sights as well as to restaurants, bakeries, shops, etc. There is ample, and safe, parking on the street in front. The building itself is older.. but maybe for that reason is full of character! Wide stairwell, massive porches, worn carpets. I loved my room with a comfortable bed and adjacent bathroom and I slept very soundly. The staff is also very helpful despite any linguistic barriers. They helped me park and showed me all around the facilities. Thank you! For me, I thought that the location was very representative of the Borjomi of today and yesteryear... so I enjoyed my stay so very much! It is one of the reasons I like traveling. I like to learn about the history, see how things are today, and get to try new experiences!
I didn't have enough time in Borjomi :( In addition to the mineral water/hot springs, there is the nearby national park as well as the ski resort of Bakuriani just up the road. I didn't allocate myself enough time to visit all the offerings in the area. Maybe next time.

Property is very very old. Toilet... is the worst one I've ever seen in hotels. I used public one down the river on park entry.
