Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomBreakfast was good but think they could do well to source local meats. We felt they needed another Staff member as they seemed to struggle trying to offer the best service they could.

United KingdomNow just some minor issue, a towel rail in the bathroom was broken and just left unusable. The bathroom door needed some force to keep shut. The main window in the bedroom had only one work latch. The issues need amending.
I liked the location. The history and the setting of the Manor house. The owner who greeted me was very welcoming and accommodating. The breakfast was very good. The room was clean, very good amenities.

United KingdomEverything about our stay was stress-free and exactly as we hoped. The location in the centre of Cheadle was perfect for our weekend at Alton Towers (approx 15min drive). The family room was very clean, spacious (even with 3 beds), and had all the basic amenities we needed for our stay. Breakfast was a cooked breakfast and a continental selection, to which both were very good. The host was very welcoming and provided an exceptional service throughout. The free on-site parking was another bonus which we made use of, along with a lovely garden area. I would highly recommend this hotel, and I would certainly book again when we are in the area. Thank you for a great stay!

United KingdomDirections to the car park were poor! We went around the one way system twice before we found the location. Room was not serviced during our stay. Would have liked the dining tables to be laid and saucers for the tea cups! Bathroom door didn't shut properly and towel rail was missing.
Lovely cool room (heat wave!) in annexe overlooking the garden. Garden was available for us to sit in and have a takeaway. Room had everything we needed for our short stay. Good selection of breakfast items including delicious fresh fruit salad.

United KingdomA little run down. A little bit of maintenance required for example window latch broken. Couldn't close the toilet door properly but these didn't detract from the overall experience.
Very attentive and friendly staff. Comfortable room with ensuite. Decent pillows for a change! Had a very good night's rest. Well cooked English breakfast. Also a good selection of continental selections if required. Lovely grounds. Although not extensive were reasonably well maintained with an impressive pond with large fish. Very clean.

United KingdomMy wife and I stayed here for two nights as part of a wee road trip to visit a few theme parks with Alton towers being one, we had stayed here in 2008 when we went to Alton and booked again as we remembered the lovely courtyard with the pond etc. from check in to check out it was a very Pleasant stay, the fella at reception (sorry I didn’t catch your name, we were the couple in room 12) was very friendly and attentive, he also served us breakfast which was great, the room was spotless and a great size. I wish the manor all the best for the future and look forward to visiting again.

United KingdomThis is just being picky. The shower head in our room needs replacing. The net curtain in the bedroom needs to be longer, so that we can have the curtains open without people seeing in.
We recently enjoyed a delightful stay at The Manor in their family room. Traveling with our two children, we found the accommodations comfortable and well-suited to our needs. The warmth and dedication that the owners and their family bring to running the manor hotel truly shines through. You can tell it's more than just a business to them; it's a passion and a way of life that they generously share with their guests. Their personal touch creates a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere, making you feel like a cherished guest in their own home. It's evident they take immense pride in the hotel and in ensuring every visitor has a memorable and enjoyable stay. Their commitment and care create a unique charm that makes the manor hotel a truly special place. One of the highlights of our visit was undoubtedly the fantastic breakfast. The selection was excellent, and the quality of the food truly stood out – a perfect start to our days. The amazing garden provided a wonderful space for relaxation and for the children to burn off some energy. It was a real oasis and a lovely feature of the property. The location of The Manor proved to be incredibly convenient for our planned visit to Alton Towers. The proximity made for a stress-free journey to and from the park, which was a huge bonus. Overall, our stay at The Manor was a very positive experience. The combination of comfortable family accommodation, a great breakfast, a stunning garden, and its close proximity to Alton Towers made it an ideal choice for our family getaway. We would certainly recommend The Manor to other families visiting the area.
