Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Hong KongUnfortunately, my car GPS sent me to the wrong location. Whilst it was nearby, the location that I was sent to was a caravan park. Once I realised I was in the wrong place I went back out onto the main road and as I was driving around I then saw the entrance to the Grove. I also used the hotel swimming pool which was a small indoor swimming pool in a stand-alone building. It may or may not have been a coincidence, but just before I flew back home to Asia 24 hours after my swim, I started to develop an earache which turned into a very severe ear infection which took a number of weeks to clear up. I cannot prove that I got the infection through swimming in the swimming pool, but according to my specialist it was the most likely source of the infection. Nothing to do with the hotel but this is my second attempt at writing this review because my first attempt was rejected by Booking.com as my photograph of this attractive property showed cars parked outside the property and it was just possible to read the registration plates of the 3 vehicles, one of which was my own. Booking.com decided that that information was information that breached its posting rules. Accordingly, I will never ever again provide any photographs of any property that I stay in on Booking.com.
I arrived at the hotel quite late and although the restaurant was closed they managed to prepare some excellent sandwiches for me which I thoroughly enjoyed. The bar in the hotel I found to be particularly friendly and warm place with some interesting guests who you could talk with And a very pleasant view out over the grounds.

United KingdomBreakfast wasn’t included in the room rate and was quite expensive, so we didn’t choose to eat at the hotel
The hotel was in a beautiful location surrounded by wooded areas. It was within walking distance of Cromer town centre, and the walk into town along the seafront was lovely. There were electric charge points on site which were free for residents, which was a very nice touch. Although we didn’t use them, there was a swimming pool and massage room available. The room was fairly small but included everything we needed for a one night stay.

United KingdomIf we were to be critical, which is hard as it is a fantastic place, maybe updating swimming pool changing areas.
Staff were lovely. Property was quirky with lots of places to sit and eat, drink and relax inside and out. Private swimming which was pre bookable. Food was fantastic and they used their own produce where possible. Very clean everywhere and a 10 minute walk to the beach/town.

United KingdomThe bed was to firm for us. I was disappointed that on checking out the staff member asked for the full amount again, I produced the receipt for paying for the room the day before so all that was left to pay was the meal, drink and breakfast we had. This soured an otherwise wonderful stay.
We were really pleased to have found the Grove, very nice and nice staff.

United KingdomYou have to book a timeslot to use the onsite swimming pool - this is great because your use is private, but lacks spontaneity and may need to book ahead as it gets booked up.
Lovely location a few minutes' walk outside Cromer. Easy to get to the cliff path and beach. Our Family Room (effectively a chalet in the grounds) was quiet, a short walk from the main building. We dined and had breakfast in the restaurant, which is excellent.

United KingdomWe normally don’t pay as much as we did for accommodation but the place looked really good. The one thing that annoyed us was the shower didn’t work at all. I rang reception and an answer machine said they were too busy to get the phone. We were both undressed ready for a shower so getting dressed again a going to reception and there being a possibility they were to busy we decided to leave it. Spoke to a man at the end of the night in the bar and he said “we do have problems with that shower “ with not much of an apology. We were both very unhappy.
It was lovely. Room was excellent. Location was great and there was a lovely walk to Cromer.

The grounds are gorgeous, set around a wide range of accommodation from glamping tents to historic rooms. The indoor pool was lovely, and the kitchen gardens absolutely delightful. The food and drinks were wonderful. The staff were all really helpful. We stayed in one of the chalets which was spacious, airy and had a fantastic bathroom with disability/accessibility features built in.
