How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThis stay was perfection! Even though you hardly see the hosts who also live at the property, they are so helpful and friendly. The apartment is immaculate! Everything you would need and more. Good quality bed . Bang in the middle of it all with tower bridge a few mins walk and the same for the station. I will definatly be returning. Amazing value for money. Thank you Monica and Victor ! X
There was nothing to not like . Some may find the noise of london a bit of a shock, but it is an urban area. But we had no problem as we kept windows shut and used the hi tech dyson fan to keep us cool .
Dear Clare, It was an absolute pleasure having you and your daughter stay with us. We're so glad you enjoyed your time and felt at home. Your kind words truly made our day. We're thrilled you found the apartment to be a perfect retreat and that the location, just a stone’s throw from the world-famous Tower Bridge was convenient for you. It means a lot to us that you noticed the little details we try to get right. You are both welcome back anytime you're in London. All the best, M&V

Verified reviewVery spacious and comfortable apartment with all the things you would like to see in you own apartment such as fridge, coffee machine, kettle, etc. All the quipement is very modern and clean. The place is also very conveniently located with 10 minutes by foot to London Bridge tube and train station and another 10 minutes across the Thames to the Tower of London.
Sound insulation at peak evening could be better, but the noise died down pretty quickly at night.
Dear Lucas, Thanks so much for your fantastic review! We're thrilled you enjoyed the apartment and found it spacious, comfortable, and well-equipped. It's great to hear you appreciated the modern amenities and the convenient location near London Bridge Station, Tower Bridge and the Tower of London. We also appreciate your feedback regarding the sound insulation during peak evening hours. ( Due to a very central location some levels of urban noise are inevitable) We're always looking for ways to improve our guests' experience, and your comments are very helpful. You were an exceptional guest, and we'd love to welcome you back anytime you're in London!

Verified reviewThe room is very clean and very spacious. Monica and Victor was very helpful during our stay. The location is perfect if you want to visit some of the sights in London, for e.g. Tower Bridge which is about 100meters away from the apartment and The Shard is onsite. Note: You will be residing in the apartment and sharing both the bathroom and kitchen with the owner. We had no complaints throughout our stay and found the accommodation to be comfortable and satisfactory. Restaurants, Supermarkets, Shops are all within a walking distance. London Bridge Station is a closest train station and its a 9mins walk from the apartment. I will definitely recommended this accommodation to my family and friends.
Dear Ulaiasi, Thank you so much for your incredibly kind review! We're thrilled to hear you enjoyed your stay and found the room clean and spacious. It was a pleasure having you, and Monica and I are so glad we could be helpful. We're also delighted you appreciated the perfect location, especially being so close to Tower Bridge and The Shard. It's fantastic to know that you found the shared accommodation comfortable and satisfactory and that the nearby restaurants, supermarkets, and London Bridge Station were convenient. Unfortunately rather noisy when windows are open (busy road outside); closed windows kept out most of the noise so no problems during the night
Dear Annemarie, Thank you for your lovely review! We’re so pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay and that our location, amenities, and hospitality contributed to a great London trip. It was an absolute pleasure hosting you, and you’re always welcome back anytime. As you noted, being in such a fantastic central location means there is some urban noise, especially when the windows are open. Verified reviewThe hosts were very friendly and helpful, sending pictures to help me find the location. The room was clean and well-maintained in a neutral, hotel-like way. Having both a washer AND dryer was especially appreciated after traveling through Europe where dryers are uncommon. The hosts kindly cleared space in the fridge and pantry for my items and provided extra amenities like towels, soaps, and lotions.
The location, while conveniently close to major attractions like Tower Bridge and the Tower of London, had drawbacks. The unit was partially below ground level (about three feet down), with windows at street level of a busy intersection, resulting in significant traffic noise. The windows could benefit from better soundproofing, as traffic, car horns, and pedestrian sounds were noticeable 24/7. The bedroom vanity table was too small for comfortable remote working. While the hosts were lovely and respectful of privacy, I hadn't realized this was a shared accommodation, which wasn't ideal for the final leg of my month-long European journey when I was seeking more personal space. For first-time Booking.com users like myself, note that 'Homestay' means you'll be sharing the accommodation with the hosts.
Dear Jeremiah, Thank you for your detailed and thoughtful review. It was truly a pleasure hosting you, and we would be delighted to welcome you back anytime. You were an exceptional guest, and we greatly appreciate your kindness and respect during your stay. We are glad you found the location convenient and the amenities helpful. As you rightly pointed out, being in such a central and well-connected area (all potential guests can see the exact location of the property before they proceed with the booking)does come with some urban noise. While we do provide earplugs for light sleepers, as well as our windows are soundproof and double glazed,we also strongly advise that those particularly sensitive to noise may prefer accommodations in quieter, more distant parts of London. Regarding the shared nature of the accommodation, we make it very clear in our listing that guests are booking a private room within a home rather than an entire apartment.( which will cost you at least 3 times more) Naturally, this means that the owners will be present, as is standard in homestay arrangements. For remote working, we completely understand the need for a more spacious setup. In the future, please feel free to ask—we would be happy to offer alternative workspace solutions within the apartment for greater comfort. Yes, it is quite common for London apartment blocks and period buildings to have lower ground or partially below-ground levels. There are several reasons for this: 1. Historical Design: Many Victorian and Georgian townhouses, which were later converted into apartments, originally had lower-ground floors for kitchens, staff quarters, or storage. These spaces were partly below street level but had windows to allow some natural light and ventilation. 2. Space Optimization: London is a densely populated city with high property prices, so maximizing usable space is essential. Lower-ground floors allow for additional living areas without extending the building’s footprint. 3. Building Regulations & Planning: In many cases, planning rules restrict upward extensions, making basement or lower-ground conversions a practical alternative to increase living space. 4. Flood & Drainage Considerations: While fully underground basements are less common due to London’s water table and drainage issues, lower-ground floors that are only partially below street level can avoid major flooding risks while still adding extra space. 5. Sound & Temperature Insulation: These levels tend to be quieter (except for street-facing ones) and naturally cooler in summer and warmer in winter, making them energy-efficient living spaces. Many modern developments and refurbished buildings now ensure that lower-ground apartments have sufficient light wells, ventilation, and soundproofing to make them comfortable living spaces. Thank you again for your stay and for sharing your experience. Wishing you all the best in your future travels! Best regards,

Verified reviewOur stay at the apartment was spot on! The best part of this property is definitely its location. Location: The apartment is centrally located—just a 2-minute walk to the iconic Tower Bridge! Many major tourist attractions are close by, so you can easily cover multiple spots in a day. We made it a routine to stroll to the Tower Bridge each night after dinner, which was delightful. There's also a Sainsbury’s right next door, making it convenient for breakfast, snacks, and affordable meal deals from Sainsbury’s or Tesco (sandwich/shawarma + drink + snack for as low as £6-8). About the Room: The room was hygienic, with clean beds and towels, plus essentials like hand towels and toiletries. There was ample storage, and the decor was both stylish and thoughtfully arranged. The room has a heater, and Monica even provided an extra portable heater for added comfort. The bathroom was clean and well-maintained. The kitchen had everything we needed—a coffee machine, refrigerator, oven, and space to cook if needed. The only minor addition that could enhance privacy is an internal lock for the bedroom. Hospitality: Monica and Victor were wonderful hosts, warm and welcoming. Their friendly conversations over coffee left us with cherished memories. On our last day, Monica gifted my wife a beautifully hand-painted fan—a lovely keepsake! Thank you, Monica and Victor, for a fantastic stay. 11/10 for the experience, the conversations, and your exceptional hospitality!
Everything was Perfect ! The only minor addition that could enhance privacy is an internal lock for the bedroom.

Went the extra mile to recommend various places and restaurants around the vicinity. The room and facilities were very well kept. Finally, the location is very good for us with proximity to the train station and the Underground.
Only drawback is the street traffic noise during the night although we got used to it after the first night.

Verified reviewMonica and Victor were great hosts and always ready to help. Room was spacious with comfortable bed and was very clean, bathroom as well. Location was great, about 8 mins walk to the London Bridge station and 2 mins to Tower Bridge. There are many delightful pubs and restaurants in the vicinity. Items such as hair dryer, shower toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, nice thick towels etc), and a dyson fan were provided. We asked to borrow a vacuum and hosts were more than happy to lend it to us. Free coffee and tea were also offered to us during our stay! Even though check out was at 10AM, hosts were accommodating by allowing us to store our luggage there until we actually needed to leave for the airport at 12PM, which was a plus point.
As it is a homestay you should be comfortable with sharing a bathroom and kitchen, it can be a little awkward for introverts 😅 but again the hosts are very accomodating. There may be times you need to wait for the bathroom if it’s occupied by the hosts. It can get a little noisy in the room (e.g police sirens and people walking by) due to the location but all is good when windows are closed! Suggest to also have tissues and a bin in the room please! Otherwise we had a very pleasant 8 days and will definitely come back when visiting London again :)
Dear Josh, Hope this message finds you well. We sincerely appreciate you choosing to stay with us, and we are very much looking forward to the opportunity to host you again in the near future. Thank you for being such a considerate guest during your stay. When booking a spare room with shared facilities, such as a bathroom, it's typical to share some common areas like the kitchen and bathroom. We hope this aligns with your expectations. Given our central location, just a few hundred yards from the iconic Tower Bridge, it's natural to experience some of the city's vibrant atmosphere. As London is a bustling metropolis, the presence of people passing, cycling or driving by, and the occasional sound of emergency services is to be expected. We are pleased that you found our windows to be effective in soundproofing, and keeping them closed should indeed minimize any external noise. Although we, as hosts, are rarely physically present on the property, please know that we are always just a click away. Whether you need assistance before, during, or after your stay, we are easily reachable by phone call or message. Once again, thank you for treating our property with such care, as if it were your own. Best regards,

Verified reviewHosts / cohabitants were very nice. Many lovely, updated features. The kitchen and bathroom were very nice. Sharing the kitchen isn't so bad, especially a lovely kitchen. Sharing a bathroom was more than we bargained for. Good location near the Tower Bridge. The pub nearby was nice and wasn't expensive. There were 2 grocery stores nearby.
Read the fine print. This is a bedroom with a shared bathroom and kitchen. While you can use the living room, kitchen and bathroom there are the hosts there also. There was barely any room in the refrigerator or pantry for our food and no room in the freezer at all. There is a club across the street that is VERY noisy, especially on the weekends. The noise was an issue for us. It would be nice to have a comfortable chair to sit on when the living room is occupied leaving nowhere but the bed to sit on. I don't think we ever were able to use the living room. One afternoon we came in to find the host asleep on the couch. You feel like you have to tip toe around.
Dear Melinda, It was a pleasure to host you once again. The room is clearly advertised as a KING BEDROOM ( large print ) with a shared bathroom, and this was noted at the time of your booking for your second stay with us. The host was available throughout your three-night weekend stay to address any special requirements you may have had. Our newly refurbished kitchen offers ample space in the fridge and elsewhere for guests' use. There are numerous delightful pubs and restaurants, including two Michelin-starred establishments, within a few minutes' walk from the property. Due to our very central location, just a short walk from the famous Tower Bridge, guests might experience some urban noise. If you are a light sleeper, a less central part of London may be a more suitable option. A modern stool is provided in the bedroom in place of a chair. While the living room is not advertised in the listing, guests are welcome to use it when available. I recall we had several pleasant conversations there during your stay, where you were comfortably seated on the armchairs or sofa. If someone briefly falls asleep on the sofa, it is quite natural as that is one of the purposes of having a comfortable sofa. We always welcome return guests warmly, and should you choose to stay with us again (third time's a charm!), we will ensure you are well taken care of, as always. Kind regards and best wishes.
