How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewDonna was super nice. Our flight was severely delayed, and she was very kind enough to accommodate my late arrival. The apartment was very clean. The bathroom was pristine, and the room was exactly as shown in the pictures. Loved it! There's also a small fridge in the bedroom, so that was a nice surprise.
None. The location is quite multicultural and it's close to a lot of groceries, shops, and tube. Highly recommend.

Verified reviewAbsolutely wonderful place to stay. Received a warm and friendly welcome from host Donna. My room was spotless and had everything i needed for my 3 night stay. The property is ideally located for exploring Brixton and only a short walk from the train station. I highly recommend this place, it's superb.

I really enjoyed my short stay. And Donna(Host) was so lovely and accommodating. And there’s a mattress warmer!! I couldn’t recommend this place enough, and I’m not exaggerating.

Note that the bathroom may be shared with another tenant/renter/traveler/guest (who is different from the host), if the host is also renting out the other room at the same time that you are staying there. The host does clean the bathrooms regularly, but the cleanliness does depend on the other person.

The room was upstairs and the bathroom was downstairs also there were steps up to the property
The accommodation a Victorian house does have steps and would most likely be an issue for someone using a walking aid like the guest was. The bathroom being on the next level is factored into the price of £47.00 per night on a street where the same room and facilities are similar for £80 to £100.00 per night.

Verified reviewAll tourist attractions necessitate a travel time of one hour or more. Train and bus stop near the residence.
The dimensions of the room (2nd floor) are quite limited, measuring approximately 6x8 feet, and the shared bathroom is located on the first floor. The flat consists of rooms that differ significantly from the images presented.
We are sorry that Anan’s experience and expectations did not meet what he had hoped for. The room has a double bed, double wardrobe and chest of drawers and a widescreen TV. The measurements for the room is 11ft x 8. We were surprised to note that he also felt that the pictures did not represent the photos. Everything is as advertised. We are pleased that he gave us the maximum score for cleanliness and a good score for comfort. It is baffling to note the score for the facilities. A fridge freezer, clothes, iron, hair dryer and an additional heater is provided. There is access to a kettle, washing machine and dryer. We were always available to respond and wanted Adnan to have a good experience overall. If googled it clearly states that from Brixton to Westminster where there are many tourist attractions takes 21 minutes by car or train and is 3.6 minutes from the accommodation. Brixton itself has several tourist attractions. The room costs £47.00 per night which takes into consideration the bathroom being on the first floor. Else where in Brixton is at least twice the price for a similar room. The bathroom is very modern and furnished to a high standard as is the bedroom and the rest of the property. Adnan was asked to let us know if he had any concerns or needed anything. Nothing at all was raised. Adnan asked a lot of questions before his arrival. All were answered and he was advised to check that the room and facilities met his expectations well before his arrival.
