Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe WiFi was too weak, and I couldn’t use it. No common are to sit except the cellar dining area which is quite dark and cold.
My room on the ground floor was very tidy and nicely done up. My stay was very comfortable

BelgiumI would suggest installing USB ports for international travellers. It also felt rather pricey for a small town.
Very nicely decorated room, it was quiet despite facing onto the high street. Good to have a self-service style breakfast with fresh locally sourced milk and I appreciated the efforts also for environmentally friendly products.

United KingdomParking arrangements could have been a bit more specific. We weren’t at all sure which were Fairlawn’s designated areas next to those of the medical centre. We opted to park on the road, making sure to move the car by 8.30 am and that worked out fine.
Well equipped bathroom, comfortable bed and very tidy/ clean room.

United KingdomThe bathroom was mouldy and the shower door broken. The wifi was not easy to get on. There is a motion sensor light at the back which is bright enough to see from space and the curtain doesn't block all that light.
The hotel has a very good location, it was very easy to check in and out. The staff we met were friendly and the bed was comfortable. All in all it is not a bad place for the price.

CanadaBreakfast was in the old wine cellar and that was amazing. Great atmosphere except for the dining staff. We paid for breakfast and they directed us to the continental breakfast. After we picked up a few items( the bread items were stale and hard) they were not covered, we sat at our table very confused to a menu that we could order from. We placed an order of pancakes and received 2 pancakes each with a minimal amount of berries. We were given the last of the pot of coffee with grinds included. We asked for a second cup and was offered instant. The breakfast staff stayed in another room with the door closed talking and laughing. I believe there were 3 young girls. We paid an extra amount 42.47 Canadian that was extremely expensive for this breakfast and service. for this . I would definitely not get the breakfast again.
Clean, quaint and comfortable. Very English that we loved , reminded us of our Family’s Bed and Breakfast in Canada. Modern bath, shower and clean crisp white sheets on an extremely comfortable bed. Quiet little town with lots of history.

First impression was the Hotel is impersonal, however, the online check in and key code access works very well. In the morning, sorry I didn't get her name, met us with a smile, which is a great start to the day, you would be surprised at how many times you get greeted with a frown, as if everything I'd too much hassle, on the contrary, we felt that nothing was to much trouble, all queries were met with a smile and assistance. The breakfast was very nice, we are used to a full English, but found your small cooked egg and bacon on toast a very good alternative. I did hit my head on the way down to the "wine cellar" on the first ceiling while reading the mind your head sign 😉 All in all a very good stay, thank you.

United StatesMy spouse missed having reception available after 6:30pm to answer questions, etc. No AC on a warm night but open windows helped and there was a fan available if we'd needed it.
Very kind receptionist, old-fashioned hotel with stairs and no lift, cozy and great. (Also I think we got the last hotel room in the town for that night!)
