Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyThe blanket was a little to small for us (I'm 2 m tall).
The communication was perfect, we got the chance to drop off our luggage and the host was very friendly and courteous. He brought us the breakfast to the room and always asked if everything is fine or if we need something else.

United StatesIf you're not a walker, you are a bit removed from downtown and other sites to see.
It is a cozy alternative to the bustle of a hotel. If you are OK with walking, you have reasonable access to Holyrood Park, Arthur's Seat, and the Royal Mile. If you like take out, there are a few options, but a sit-down meal is a bit of a walk. The Nepalese restaurant was worth the walk.

IrelandThe only thing I didn't like is that checkout was at 10 in the morning. I didn't ask to do it later but I would have liked it to be around 12.
The host is very kind and tries to have any questions answered. The property is cosy and room comfortable. It is not close to city centre but it works as a good accommodation to spend the night. Breakfast was on time and it was simple but nice; a bit scarce though.

AustriaThe room was clean and comfortable. The bus to the City was basically at the front door, and Arthur's seat was a 15 min walk away. But definitely the highlight was the lovley host Abe. He delivered the delicious breakfast right on time with a delightful attitude. We will definitely be back if the opportunity arises.

United StatesAbe was so kind and welcoming. He was the perfect host who gave us the most incredible first impression of Scotland. The smile on Abe’s face as he delivered the delicious breakfast provided the perfect start to the day. Waking up to that after such a comfortable and sound night of sleep made our stay absolutely exceptional.

FinlandThe water pressure in the shower was very low and the shower head itself was very small so showering was "difficult". For the few days I stayed it was fine but for a longer stay it would be a bit of an inconveniece.
I had a beautiful stay at Drumorne. It's very quaint and about ~ 10 minute bus trip from Edinburgh city centre. The bus stops are only a few steps from the B&B's doorstep. The location was great for the activities I had planned for my trip, such as visiting Holyrood Park and Portobello Beach. My room was nice and homey, the bed was comfortable and having a a little fridge in the room was great. There's an en-suite which was a good size. Upon arrival you fill out a little form of which breakfast options you'd like to be provided each morning. This included bread, egg, fruit, juice etc. Breakfast was simple but nice to have.

LatviaIt would be cool to have access to the kitchen, but on the other hand you can get some food in the center not far from the accommodation. The small shelf in the bathroom needs some small repairs. The kettle had a bit short cord to connect easily to the socket. It was a bit strange that we couldn't open all the windows in the room.
The room was big and we had enough space to put all our stuff and still to feel ourselves living in not overloaded room (btw the chairs in the room also were quite comfortable). We liked that Abe brought us our breakfast to the room. It felt as some personal touch. We liked that we had a fridge in the room and we used it. The location was also quite good. You still won't be able to use Skylink bus to get to the airport, but the 44th bus is just 30 seconds walk from the accommodation. We liked the big window which we could open and see a road crossing just next to the buiding. The bed was ok as well.
