How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

I didn't like the way the shower screen could not move to allow you to easily get in the bath i pity the infirm when i comes to that the easy chair had a big stain like some had wet them selves nota good look .
I liked the location the staff sobina & Navid were great.made me feel welcome food was great nice staff at the breakfast nice water front seats to which is great ill book again if carnival on next year

The walkway between the Excel was closed off and it would have been so much better to walk back to the hotel, had it been open. However, when we finished at the event we attended, there was no walk through the Excel and we had to get the DLR to travel 1 stop to then be able to walk to our hotel.
I liked that it was on the river and close to a DLR station and the Excel Arena.

I felt the rooms need upgrading. One the lifts near the reception was broken so we had to use one lift or wall up the stairs. I also think the dinner menu was a bit limited.
The location was brilliant and gave me easy access to central. The staff were very helpful. Our room had an ironing board which was a bonus . Loved the breakfast buffet.

The lifts are really small , when people cram in , it feels very claustrophobic. Apart from that all good .
The staff were really welcoming and kind to us. The room and food were excellent.

Windows didn’t open. Didn’t get slippers as we were supposed to.
Nice and clean, not central London but overground stop 6 mins walk away. Warn cookies on arrival. We eat at the bar restaurant and the food was lovely.

Breakfast wasn't that special for the price we paid. We could hear our neighbours and the people in the hall very well in the room.
Hotel staff was very friendly. Location is okay, a little far from the main tourist spots but the DLR station is close by. If you vist the Excel then it's perfect. Room was okay.

Unfortunately the Hotel is old and really need to be refurbished Not much restaurant.
When we arrived at the Hotel we were greeted very friendly. We were also given cookies, which we enjoyed very much. Added bonus on the day we were leaving we were given more of the cookies to enjoy at the airport. We just wanted to be close to London City airport. It wasn't too far and actually so close that you could see the airport and planes taking off. Although it was very close, you did not hear the plane noise at all from our room. Close to the train station so if you need to go into the city you could.

lighting in room was poor you could only have all the lights on or no lights the bedside reading lamp was on the same switch as the main light for a hotel of this standard it was very poor. the general location was geared to the airport less than 3 mins away so there was little choice (one pub)within walking distance if you didn't want to eat in the hotel.
Breakfast was excellent nothing was too much trouble check in was floorless and free cookie
