How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The entrance and stairs to the room was absolutely filthy and disgusting, scuffed floors and walls rubbish on the floors, we couldn’t get into our room to begin with as instructions weren’t clear, we called the land he answered after the 5th time and said he we would be 20 minutes, we figured it out thankfully it took us about half hour to get into the room. Once me and my 2 friends got in our room was not up to standard hair all over the beds, and what we think was blood on the floor, the lock is not secure either, the place has bed bugs me and my friend have only just started getting out bites about a week and half after staying after much research and seeing blood on the duvet and looking at many other reviews we know it is bed bugs, the place is just overall dirty, landlord is rude and lazy and will not come when you need help.

Verified reviewThe location was amazing! Only a 1 minute walk to the train station and 1 train stop away from the Tower of London and Tower Bridge! They allowed us to drop off our bags earlier than check in which made it easy for us to get around.
The lock on the door is quite difficult to lock and sometimes even to open. Communication was hard as both numbers given to me in booking.com weren’t on WhatsApp so if I wanted to text or call I would have been charged using my overseas number. When we arrived, our room temperature was set to 29.4 degrees Celsius and it was only our luck that there was a worker in the hallway that came in to help us out. He didn’t know how to turn it down though, he had to call someone else. The room was then set to 23 degrees which got us through the night but was still very hot. I tried to contact the property the next morning but no one answered my messages on booking.com and the phone number I was given for WhatsApp after I asked a member of staff about it wasn’t answering. Luckily I contacted my mum who could then contact booking.com from Australia who then contacted the property. The last 2 nights were a lot more comfortable because they turned the heating off all together but it shouldn’t be that difficult to turn it off in the first place.

People please refrain from booking this. The room is full of bed bugs, and the owner doesn’t reply until you call them 8-10 times. The balcony is dirty which was actually a store room for the owners. Booking.com emailed us saying the owners were not reachable when we insisted for a refund. We had to find a new place and paid double for it at the last minute.

The accommodation can't control this but the access to the floor that the flat is on I would definitely take the elevator as the stairs are dingy.

I reached out for help multiple times before my trip and the staff refused to help. Booking.com ignored my request for help. What I needed help with would have GAVE THEM MORE MONEY and they STILL didn’t answer. They responded to only 1 message and said “we’ll get back to you” and never did after a follow up. I reached out to both the hotel and booking customer service to cancel and request a refund due to the circumstances and still no answer. I cancelled because ALL of their ratings went down since I had booked so I was not going to get what quality I paid for and there were reports of bed bugs at this place online.

We booked this place well in advance for a short stay for 2 days in London before we head ahead on our vacation to Scotland. And they charged us nearly 2 months in advance with the complete amount. We reached this place, and the area surrounding has nothing to offer unless you walk for at least 1 km... the options are limited and not great. The place did not seem like the best of neighborhoods.. and has a constant noise of the trains passing by, and you can see them from your room. Even the windows do not close. The lock system for the room is a bit too complicated with no clear indications and you need to press the code always when you get in or out, even if you have to use the shared bathroom at night and hope you do not forget the combination. Even the toilet seat does not fit. But the actual problem started at night when there were bedbugs all over the place, and we were badly bitten all over... we called the owner for help, but there was no response, and he did not even respond after I sent him photos and videos of the bedbugs and bloood stains all over the bedsheets.. I requested them to either shift me to another room as the whole apartment was vacant with the other 3 spare rooms, but it seems it was the same situation there, too... so they did not bother to respond. I left early morning the next day and shifted to another hotel as my daughter had an allergic reaction to the bug bites. I asked him for a response if he could refund me the 2nd night, and they blocked me. There are bugs everywhere on the walls / curtains... it was a nightmare, securing our luggage that these bugs do not get into it. I would suggest this place has nothing to offer.. Absolutely pathetic approach by the host. You just spoilt our vacation... I would have rated it negative if there was an option just because the host does not have the courtesy to own up to his mistake and did hire the place when he knew the bedbug issue existed. Do not get fooled by the photos.

You and your belongings will be safe at all times. Staff was friendly and were always keeping the place tidy 10/10 cleanliness. Definitely recommend!
